Signal Passed At Danger!

In Driver, when running a layout with only AI drivers, I sometimes get a radio message that a driver has passed a signal at danger. He subsequently restarts and continues his schedule.

I am curious as to why this is happening. Does it have any bearing on the distance that a signal is from a junction, or perhaps the speed on this portion of track is too high.

Problem solved! it was the gradient at that point which was causing the problem!
