Hello, I am currently trying to build a route through cheshire, uk, near where i live. I've been trying to use basemaps (using the tutorial (http://www.g0akh.f2s.com/Trainz/Basemap_tutorial.html)) but there is a section i am having trouble with:

Save the new image to your hard disk over the Basemap file '1km square X.jpg' where 'X' is the letter A-I appropriate to the section of map being used - See picture below. (1km Basemap files are normally stored in directories "C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Custom\Scenery\1km Basemap A" to "..\1km Basemap I")

I am using Trainz Classics 3, so i imangine the file location is different, i got as far as custom but there was not a scenery file, could someone also clarify what i do with the base pack once i have downloaded it.

Thank you

I think this does not work with TRS2006, so may not work with TC3 either.

You can try using a program called TranzDem. This will take real-world height data, and a scanned or downloaded map and create your route for you, with terrain elevations and basemaps for tracing over with tracks, roads etc.
Do a search for TransDem or see these pages http://forum.uktrainz.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=131 over on the UKTrainz forum.
It is payware, but an excellent package, almost essential if you're intending to re-create a real location. (Usual disclaimer - No connection, just an extremely satisfied customer:) )
