I've been comparing some models of mine, they are of the Class 141 railbus and it answers to why some things I make, takes eturnity to release:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/wessexelectricnut/141frontcomp.jpg
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/wessexelectricnut/141sidecomp.jpg
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/wessexelectricnut/141oldinterior.jpg
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g217/wessexelectricnut/141midinterior.jpg
Note that V3 doesn't have an interior yet (the shinest one) and V1 lost its textures (the crappiest one).
Edit: While I am at it, I had a go with the V2 model in producing a fictional refurbishment, to see what SWT would look like on these units. It turns out that SWT on a Pacer is just insulting the Pacer really! (Yes! Thats how much I hate SWT for the PIG withdrawal ATM!)

Oops didn't realise sorry, apparently his web host has cut his bandwidth down to 50Mb so the downloads have been removed for now. I'm sure he'll put them back up at some point though as they've always been very popular.
Other than those I'm not sure. I think there are a couple of old 150s on the DLS but they're based on the Auran Mk3 carriages. They were good for their time though, and it's better than nothing :D

I'll be updating my Railtrack class 121 reskin ("Pandora") with a photo texture version in the near future.

I started working on the English end of the Channel Tunnel at one point, the plan was for the route to stretch from the Tunnel to Ashford International, with portals at each end. It's prototypical so far, made using google earth and planningportal maps, although I can't remember if I've used the real heights. I don't know whether I'll bother modelling the tunnel itself though as it would be pretty boring to drive, however Sam if your route is going to be prototypical (or at least with the tunnel entrance facing the right way) then I could easily be convinced to create the tunnel and set it up so the two routes can be merged. It would of course include the huge crossover chambers for added interest :)
There's a long way to go before it's even close to being a route though, and I can't see myself wanting to work on it again until my Eurostar is close to completion, although Eldavo's 92 might motivate me a bit as the route includes Dollands Moor :)
Here's how far I got anyway, this is the Folkestone / Cheriton terminal viewed in Trainzmap..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g268/jivebunnystudios/091b77d3.jpg
And a view of the actual route... this was an early shot so I've done a bit more work on it since then (namely hills and texturing). The grey area on the left is the where the reception centre is, with the road on the right being the M20. The bridges and ramps at the terminal were an absolute pain to build! (using DLS assets)

Hello FSP, if you mean the ones behind Linda they are created by Decapod and have the passenger industry function and animated doors and I belive (typical me forgetting:o ) they also have animated couplings. They can be found by typing this kuid into the DLS 130855 first page there are 3 in two liverys South Eastern & Chatham Railway or Southern Railway. They are well worth a look, hope this helps.:)

JB, that looks fantastic, well done. If and when you complete your Eurostar, it may be worth doing the Shuttle as well. Now, looks like i better work out how to DEM's:(

I'm not bothering with DEM, I've just placed the tunnel entrance at 0m (not prototypical..) and will probably use a sample height every mile or so along the route so as to give the right feel without being painstakingly accurate. Funny you should mention the shuttle, I'd started a Class 9 in gmax a while back. I've just transferred it to 3DS and might do a bit of work on it :) It'll be a guesstimated model though as I have no drawings, just dimensions, photos and my memory!

If you mean the ground planes built into the Gresleys, virtually nothing (6 polys per carriage).
If you mean the Auran 'Enable Shadows' option then you might need a new PC.:)

Overmars, I wish I was that useless at weathering!
Two questions.
1. How do you weather locos like that?
2. Is that the Railwaves '47. If so, what is it like? (I am thinking of buying it)
Incidentally, if you want locomotives that you can switch off, check out Eldavos Railway Emporium. He has a class 58 and a class 08 for sale. You can turn the engines off in both Surveyor AND Driver, and they have other features too.
Best wishes,

1. You can use Paint Shop pro or Photo Shop to edit textures...
2. If you look on the railwaves website you can see reviews of the loco's...

Hi Andi,
I'd be very interested in seeing how these are done as I've seen them on your recent releases as well as some from FMA and they look very convincing, far better than anything the Auran shadows can do!
I'm assuming they need to be made a certain way going on the fact that they use six polygons rather than just one?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks. My PC is mid-range, which is good for route design because If my machine can manage then most people's can. I think the polys are being eaten by the loco in charge.

I'm new around here, and I have to say from what I've seen in this thread I'm both intimidated and inspired.
Anyway, here's my humble contribution. Two pictures from a very short route, a fictional line still under construction named Bishop's Deverill. It's my first "serious" layout, since every one I've made so far has been a throwaway single-baseboard thing, but I've been inspired from what I've seen here to actually put some effort into a route for once.:)

Glad you recognised the locations, they are indeed Downhill and Limavady Junction. Thanks for that info on Ballykelly. Thing was I only had short archive clip taken from a train window so I just had to guess what structures were there. I'll remove the control tower then, I didn't know the airfield buildings are derelict now.:) I have completed the Waterside terminus in Derry, I just sort of need the Craigavon bridge now.:hehe:

You probably saw that BenDorsey produced the Bann Lift Bridge for me. Maybe if you asked him nicely he'd do the Craigavon Bridge with the wagon turntables and dual guage, capstan worked, track on the lower deck, etc.
Then you could add Londonderry Victoria Road Station with the Donegal and the GNR Foyle Road Station on the other bank of the lough. Come to think of it, a Derry/Londonderry layout would have great variety, especially if the Lough Swilly Terminus was included as well.

I now theres some from somewhere I had a set with TRS2004.
The standered guage trucks are called BR freight MCO.
I don't know if there just for TRS2006 but if they are Pikkabird does a good set avaible from his web site these load and unload.
There is set by pikkabird that are almost the same they just don't unload or load.

Couple of shots taken at super viewing distance from around the Cheriton
Eurotunnel terminus.... Sorry for the lack of textures :p
A passenger Shuttle makes its way around the enormous loop, which will be put underground as soon as the catenary is done ;) To the right are the holding sidings and the maintenance centre. The bit of track branching off from the CTRL (or HS1 as they now call it) is the start of Dollands Moor, which should provide plenty of loco-swapping opportunities and will hopefully be industry active with container pick-up and drop-off...

JB The 1825 shed is used for the Pockerly Tramway which uses the replica locos (Steam Elephant, Locomotion etc), very interesting. I can not find my pictures at the moment, but Google gives more info. The "original" station and railway did not have working trains for a long time, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that this situation was due to improve, I think they had a visiting loco work recently.

Make Diesel 10 out of that! He's based on the 42. (MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!) Sorry, just couldn't resist! He's my favorite diesel loco. Or will I have to make him myself?
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e4/Diesel10.jpg (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e4/Diesel10.jpg)
Or will Mstnoodle make him first? Pinchy could be a panto, first resting, then go up and open, to the side, then the other side. If we had him, we could remake the entire Thomas and the Magic Railroad! (Though they should have named it Thomas and the Magic Railway, Thomas is British isn't it?)
Sorry about the off-topic. Just couldn't resist!

Yes, Thomas is British or, at least, his creator was. But the idea that the word "railway" is British and "railroad" American has come about by a peculiar accident of history.
The first "inter-city" line in the world was between Manchester and Liverpool. In 1825 a Bill was presented to Parliament to authorise the construction of the Liverpool and Manchester Railroad. There were serious inaccuracies in the details of this Bill and it was rejected. The following year, a revised Bill was presented to Parliament. Parliamentary rules, I believe, would not allow a "second chance" to a Bill that had already been rejected in that session. So the new Bill, which became an Act of Parliament, was for construction of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway.
This may be an over-simplified version of history, but at the time the terms railway and railroad were interchangeable. BTW I notice that there are many "railways" in the US.

There is a 9F available at Pauls Trainz http://www.paulztrainz.myenet.info/inside/inside.htm, yes its payware but is top class:cool:
The 9F in the pictures by Lielesto has been in production since time began.... I myself have lost intreast in it as we have all been taunted a lot with pictures but no reply to a lot of questions asked by people such as "how are you getting on?", I realise loco construction takes time but this is starting to get a bit silly. Plus I find your loco's un-usable the smoke is too much for the computer to take and frankley looks like gel or sauce from a squirt bottle, if anyone can help me change the smoke effects that would be great, don't get me wrong the loco's themselves look fabulous. (personal opinion)
The Black 5 is either from the download station or from LMS Man (payware but again very much worth it) http://www.trainz-britannia.com/index.html hope this helps.
thanks lner

 I think you're confusing Rob's 9F with something else. He only showed it to us in October 2006 and had been working on it for two months at that point. He has a dedicated thread tracking the model's progress, this is where you should look if you want to see how the model is getting on. If you don't see any updates in the thread it's because there are no updates to give, most creators will simply ignore people who are unable to figure this out for themselves.

(personal opinion)The "twinkles" smoke effects look far better and take a lot more work to implement than the standard Auran ones, this is why people use them. If your computer displays them in the way you describe I would suggest you have a problem with your graphics card or simply need to upgrade.

I was talking about Robs 9F we have seen Images of it in game in routes that are "fully operational", maybe its just a pet hate but it really does annoy me when content that looks finished is being used in multiple on a route. The twinkle effects are fine on the 4F, 3F, J50 and others, it is just the new A4's and Robs content where the smoke comes out in the manor described previously, I do like Robs content and was previously excited about the 9F but its popped up now and again in situ on a route and it feels taunting. There is no way that I can upgrade only really got this computer, but thankyou for your advice.

Hi lner,
There are a few things you must remember.
Rob is building this engine, the 9f, for free in a number of versions. I think there are 3.
This is Rob's hobby, not his occupation. As such, I'd bet "London to a brick", he has times when he get's tired of it, and needs to take a break and do other things to refresh.
There is absolutely nothing more complex too create for trainz than a steam locomotive.
This engine will have its own animated interior. This is almost as complex in steam form as the loco itself.
All of this takes time. And considering it is done by a community member in his spare time hammering away at the computer, the wonder is, that so much progress is being made so quickly.
It's great too watch such projects develope, and the anticipation for them being released is great.:)
Regarding the steam effects. These engines and the A4's you mentioned, Are "Drivers engines". They need too be driven in "Cab mode", not dcc, to get the best effect.
DCC/AI will give the effect you describe, because the the effects are governed by power settings Which are controlled in the game engine physics.
Finally, Rob was affected by the recent flooding in his home town. I do not know too what degree. But that is an example of the "Life" issues that can affect things like this.
So, take it easy, sit back, relax, and see the engine materialise here on the forum.:)

Well by the sounds of things I think maybe Rob deserves a long break away for creating if he wants.
I my opinion he defently deserves it.
I can understand what LNER is saying about the steam effects after seeing this at first hand myself.
I think its more the effect on the computer it is nightmare for me to get the RB Merchant navy started because of the steam effects. But most of the time I don't mind that much. But on LNERs Computer it really goes very slow.
I think theres is only two version a Clean version and a weathered version.
There where requests for the crosti boilered 9f but this mad clear by Rob that he wasn't doing it.
I would like to see if i could do the a conversion Job on the one for MSTS if I would be allowed by it creator and if i know how to do it.

A bit of information for anyone asking about a specific picture: When you quote a post, look at the top right of the reply box thingy, above the smilies, for a button that has an A, a diagonal line, and a bigger A (it is labelled "switch editor mode" when you hover over it). Click on that, and it will change the contents of the text window to show the html code, rather than the embedded pictures. Then delete the and tags from each picture (and in fact you can delete any non-relevant pics from your post completely). Then the remaining pics will just come up as links, which can be clicked upon to bring up the pics if required. This will save quoting reels of pictures in their entirety.
Edit: Just to make absolutely clear, the above is NOT a dig at anyone, it is merely information for anyone, as some people may not be aware of how to unquote the images. I myself did not know until quite recently.
And now, to keep on topic, a screenie:
