While annotating VB code is doing my head in, I had a play with the draw distance with a map. Heres a layout I am developing for personal reasons. As can be seen, it needs a lot of detailing and the section nearest to the nearby station, took half an afternoon to do!
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/8559/highleighstnon4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
This is what that section loks like.
http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/7267/highleighstn2rb6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Eventually, it will be electrifed thoughout, using a majority of the lines with 3rd rail. I also intend to add trams too, whether they will be low floor trams or high floor trams, is a different question... and where the line is going to be.
(P.s. Don't bother asking for a copy!)

Why is it taking much longer then expected the shot of the locomotive above looks fine.:(
It's taking much longer because I'm sourcing images for the texturing, lining up all the texturing, doing script work, testing, altering bits of the mesh every now and then, researching which unit had which livery, learning how to use texture replacement, aswell as a host of other things. not to mention the fact that I'm at college, so I have work to do for that too, and also that I do have a social life, so I do not spend every other hour of the day working on the unit.
Sorry about that...heres a screenshot for everyone.

Harcourt - I'm not sure what moves me most about your reconstruction of York Road, the skill and authentic feel of your work, or the sheer nostalgia of it. My most recent memory of the old York Road station was at the end of a trip in the cab of a MPD from Derry in 1957.
I am (very slowly) creating a route around the Ards Peninsula, in a bid to attract more tourism and reduce traffic congestion.:) It is powered by electricity generated by submerged turbines driven by the exceptional tidal currents in the Strangford Narrows. When there is something really worth showing, I'll post some screenshots. One day it may get through Newtownards and try to find its way into Belfast. It may be difficult to link up with NIR - a few things in the way! Perhaps I ought instead have been creating the route the businessmen in Portaferry were campaigning for in the late 1800s and build it with the open land then available.
Please keep up the good work. It is wonderful.

Hi Peter,
Ah the MPDs,unfortunately before my time! But great units,a fact that no two MPDs were ever identical, been made from converted coaching stock!:D
Really 1957,that even before the time I've tried to set the era of the route. Must have been plenty of geeps and no doubt the NCC moguls too! Not even the diesel units had taken over the steam sheds back then!:p
I'm glad you're liking it,as there's very few people who really know what York Road was,I do hope you find it accurate enough. I've studied many photographs of it going back to the 40s,and have recreated the accurate trackwork of the early/mid 1960s.:D
I am actually only showing a tiny tiny section of the route, sure I have completed the line all the way as far as Portush and Coleraine, aswell as Downhill beach stratch, not to mention the Larne line! All of it I will show shortly,as I'm sure these York Rd shots are getting a bit gloomy!:D
That's an interesting railway your building, sure couldn't you use part of the old Belfast & County Down line through east Belfast, even Newtownards had a BCDR station, probably long gone...before they turn it into some bus route!:hehe: Then join it with NIR on the cross harbour link:D
Anyway, yup more screens of the NCC route to follow.:)
@kimmy,ah it's good that you're keeping the GE route though, even on hold,I often foolishly deleted routes I had no time for and then regreted it soon after! Anyway, looking forward to that new layout of yours. :)

Nice shot, Harcourt. That MN is certainly impressive. However, have you ever tried driving it in cab mode? The thing doesn't like going in reverse! In fact, it won't go backwards at all for me. At first I thought it was my RailDriver that was the problem, so I tried the keyboard controls. Same problem. I then used the reverser lever in the cab with the mouse and still the loco wouldn't budge.
Nice loco though.
Best wishes,

It does now, it was IIS on 2k3 server playing up (again)! I had to specify what a CDP is, nothing I needed to do for 2k server though, I wonder why?
Anyway, you may want to look at the directory listing (since I have enabled directory listing, since I am that lazy!), I shall be adding new stuff as time goes by too!

I may need to organise the folder a bit, so don't expect the same link either.

Yep the Pendolino works with TRS2004. There's a thread on the forum somewhere with the download link, just do a quick search for "pendolino" and you should find it.

The only way that could happen would be if it was being dragged by a Class 57. I thought all the lines through Nuneaton were electrified?

Shall we bring back my moaning about QUOTED PICTURES ?.
Thinking of alsing Alan yelmans if the quote button can be takeing out of the screenshots completly then no pics can be quoted but then it may not be possoble.
But know poeple can see why im moaning or was as the last page is nearly full up with quoted pics well but 1.

I'm getting bored of this. You post in this thread every couple of days to have your little moan at someone quoting a picture, yet you haven't actually contributed any screenshots to the thread in two months. Have you ever considered that your complaining might annoy people in the same way that quoted pics annoy you? Just scroll past them, it's not like it costs you money.

Very true indeed that is but if you read back i havnt moaned about any quoted pics or anything lol for the past 5 pages due to the upset it was causeing.
I know that it dont cost money but some people take pride in posting pics for only it to spoiled by the very few people who actaualy quote pics so if by me moaning about quoted pics gets the quoted pics stoped then thats it everybody is happy.
I do have a really good reason why i havnt posted any pics in the last 2 months wich you will all fined out sooner or later.

The Nuns Rugby ground is Class 170 stomping ground, so I don't think that you'd see either unless you are looking at the viaduct by the industrial area, and thats pretty long ranged!
The Old Eds Rudby ground is electrified and that is for pendolinos, and the flyover is for 170s and Class 66s.

The photo is the advertising, it contains a link to imageshack. I'm not sure where people are getting their links from because the links on my "my images" page contain only the image data and no hyperlink. The only thing I can think of is that these links are what you are given if you upload your images to a generic server rather than your own imageshack account. I use photobucket now mainly because there's no dodgy adverts on their site but also because I got fed up with the imageshack servers always being down.

I'm not absolutely certain about this, but I think the URL has been added to the 'Linking Code' you Copy from Imageshack ('Hotlink for forums') and paste into this forum.
If you look, you'll see that after the usual to for the screenshot code, there is also a [URL to [/URL] code now. This didn't used to be there.
All I do is 'copy & paste' the to part of the code to the forum. That stops it.....I think that is right.

and the doors a way too far out
That's helpful... :o
For now I'm focusing on getting the basic mesh back to Cameron for reskinning. On all the photos I've seen the hopper vents and frames in the cab side window are painted white, so they're on the to-do list along with the underframe / bogie combo as parts that aren't essential to reskinning.
JB
Edit: Here's a reference pic (http://www.railwayscene.co.uk/image.php?imgref=1662), the only thing I can see that needs changing with the doors is that the white handrail needs lowering / shortening a bit. But then again I don't really know what I'm looking for as "way too far out" could mean they're too close to the outside of the bodyshell, they're too close to the front, they're too far apart, or of course that they're "far out" in that they're completely wrong.

Sorry, I was trying to phrase it, too far out is a little too....variable. You'll see when you look at the bottom of the doors, what I mean, then again, my big fat red pen, which needed some excercise, so it has marked your work into seeing where you have gone wrong. :)
Hopefully this explains things better.

Thanks for the clarification WEN you had me confused! I think I also need to darken the edges of the door frames a bit so they contrast more against the sides.
nexus you don't waste any time to do you?! Shame Arriva have got the franchise as I can't say I remember a single good experience on any of their trains... Still if it means they're bringing HSTs back to cross-country routes then I'm not going to complain :D the power car looks fine but they'll need to change the livery on the Mk3s, their concept work is awful! It's not exactly shouting "high speed" is it?

I don't think they're removable. I certainly haven't linked to Imageshack on purpose
If somebody could please explain how to get rid of the hyperlinks, then I'll happily remove them :)It's really simple, simpler in fact not to include code since oyu copy paste it in!
Example:
Bad: http://www.imagehosting.com/out.php/i886698_Untitled1.jpg (http://www.imagehosting.com)
(Thanks Auran for the php code box wrap)
Good:http://www.imagehosting.com/out.php/i886698_Untitled1.jpg
By using the BBCode HTML syntax IMG only you'll make the world enjoy your images without dirty side effects, n'est-ce-pas?
PS: FAO Jivebunny, I got your PM, thanks. Talk about it in a couple of weeks then.

No probs Greg :)
What I don't understand is where people are getting their code from as none of the tags have any hyperlink / url code in them (not even hidden code that copies itself to your clipboard so you paste it without realising)

Sorry guys, but maybe someone should redirect someone.
Greg, if you truely have a problem with certain tags becomming inbedded into an image, do not talk to the users about it, I suggest you talk to a moderator about it. Or drop a line to Alan and Lance about it at Helpdesk. (www.auran.com/helpdesk).
The fact is, people are going to keep posting images with tags in them, because quite simply, they cannot be bothered to spend the time, taking out the little URL tag, to be even worth the bother.

@ harcourt
I'm really taken with your interpretation of the Northern Counties line. One question continually nags at me - if it really had been treated as an integral part of BR, with the possible advantage of BR motive power etc, would it have survived at all? Many routes on this side of the water that carried a lot more passengers were simply wiped out.
I liked the dock area street scenes. One thing was missing though, apart from the complete absence of people, which is normal on any trainz route. That was horses and carts. Judging by the lorries in the scene (trucks to our transatlantic friends), it would appear to be set in the mid to late 1950s. At that time this was an extremely busy area and horse-drawn carts were at least as common in this part of Belfast as motorised vehicles.
I was amused by the green London RT bus parked in Antrim:)
Please keep up the good work, and keep showing it.

Surprisingly enough there's a reason I was asking where people are getting their links from. I take it you didn't bother to read my previous post showing that the links provided on the main imageshack page don't actually contain any url tags....
There's no need to edit the links before posting since they don't contain a link to imageshack. People are just copying the wrong links from somewhere, and won't say where. I've tried helping but since neither "side" is actually interested in resolving their little disagreement I'll let you sort it out amongst yourselves by PM.

Right the imagecrack problem. After a little researching it would appear the links that the imagecrack website gives you changes depending on the image uploaded. If you check the thumbnail bellow you can see that the first image uploaded has 2 boxes "hotlinks for forums". This is where the url tag is coming from and the annoying imagecrack links. The solution is simple though. DO NOT USE THOSE LINKS! Instead copy the "Direct link to image" link and then click the little insert image button when making a post and past in the website link. All will then be good.
http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/1249/imagecrap1pd5.th.jpg (http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/1249/imagecrap1pd5.jpg)
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8411/imagecrap2xf4.th.jpg (http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8411/imagecrap2xf4.jpg)
If you compare the two images you can see the different links that are used. Also you will note I have edited the code in those thumbnails to stop it loading up the imagecrack website, instead it just direct links to the full size image, nothing more.

If you are missing anything, check that folder first, or in the future, check "KUIDs".
Do post screenshots if you do find anything of use. :)
