electra I was refering to the fact that atleast one end has got a buckeye and the other stock has drawgear ;0
Yeah, I noticed that half way through the session, I thought both ends had buffers, at least it had the correct number! (310332)

I dare say!
It definitely has been common practice on more plates than not since September 2001 (51 reg), although obviously, some new cars do not have tags, mine doesn't for example (02)

Both of our cars have eurobands. One was made in 2004 and one was 2002, so they date back quite far..
In most European countries it's required to have them, like The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal ect. But we're independant..we don't :D

Great feedback tmz and ex-railwayman thanks!
Very nice, looks like it will be an atmospheric route.
A couple of notes regarding the class 08 shunters; the blue livery started appearing in the 1970s, there are, however two green versions on the DLS appropriate to the 1960s. These locos can be numbered in surveyor, a range from 08001-08958 would be suitable for the blue version or TOPS green, the green one with the D on the side accepts a 4 figure number, pick anything from 3000-4192.
Very interesting and I shall do that so the trains don't look out of place, just one thing though and excuse this probably very newbie question, but how do I number the trains? Also I notice that some of trains have a place for numbers to go on the front , like the train here:
http://www.freefoto.com/images/26/17/26_17_51---Class-37-BR-Co-Co-D6700--37350-_web.jpg
But how do put my own numbers on my trains? All I see is 0000.
Thanks

On Surveyor, go in the Locos menu and click the "?" button, then click the loco in surveyor. A window will pop up. Click the underlined number next to "running number" and change the value. The nameplate will change!

Not all of them do Gnasher, in fact, to be honest, very few of the old stuff does. It's only this new batch of Class 47's that has been recently released really. May I ask which Trainz version you have at the moment ???

January 14th, 2009, 08:23 AM
You already have TC3, well, that's marvellous....It was made for us Brits....:p
Nothing wrong with getting any other versions of Trainz either (depends how much pocket money you have left after Christmas) and having them installed on different drives is a bit of a hoot. I now have TRS2004, TC3 and TRS2007 all installed on my PC and it's wicked.....:hehe:
Now, if you have TC3, then things are slightly different from Liam's advice, he was advising you of how to change the headcodes for the recent Class 47's that are on the DLS, now, in TC3 all the built-in locomotives were purpose made for this version, Rob Hill created some fabulous Class 40's and to change the headcodes on the diesels that have headcodes currently deployed at OOOO, Class 24 / 37 / 40, etc, you need to go into surveyor and place the loco on the track and go onto the top of the screen where it says Surveyor menu and there is a little button on the left hand side that says Edit Session Rules, click on that and a box appears called edit session. Go into the section called Startup Options there are 3 grey buttons click on the one that says edit, go into Driver Command and scroll down until you see Train Reporting Numbers and click on the little box you'll see a green tick appear, then click on the big green tick ( accept ) at the bottom and also on the other box as well and come out of surveyor. When you go into Driver, click your cursor on the tiny little green arrow on the space bar at the bottom and go into Train Reporting and a long list will appear giving you the types of freight class speeds and the years they were introduced, just click on whatever applies really, these were done primarily for the die hard fanatics that had to have everything exact when running their passenger and freight trains. Whatever you click on, the headcode box numbers will then automatically appear, for the steam locomotives you have lamps in various configurations, click on what type of train it is and away you go.......Blimey, that was a bit long winded, but, at least everyone now knows how it's done.....

Ah but the joy of TC3 headcode commands is you can stick them in a list of driver orders. As such your train can head of depot under a light engine code, couple up to an express passenger change code again to an express code, driver somewhere uncouple, light engine code, couple upto a class 7, then class 7 code and so on ;).

Yes, thanks Rob, I forgot to mention that you can change your headcodes each time for all your AI movements for the same loco.
@ Gnasher, if you are a bit of a Trainz nut, you might like to have a look at this website that explains a bit about headcodes and reporting numbers, it's very informative - http://www.2d53.co.uk/Headcode/headcode.htm

But on my Class 37s the number plate doesn't change?!
Some of them are just fixed textures so they don't change. A good thing to look out for is the NumberIt Library in its dependancies. If it has this the train's headcode/5-digit code most likely can be changed e.g. on Eldavos Class 67.

Hmmmm, it's very kind of you to say so, but, I don't think you'll see me on Mastermind just yet......:p
Good to see you have mastered that little function successfully, and the loco's headcode is fine, running as a light engine it's first number is 0, which is correct.
So, we'll expect to see lots more screenshots now with your locos duly kitted out with their correct Train Reporting Numbers, I'll be keeping a close watch.......:hehe:

Wow!! Great to see the Ol' Girl still getting a work out. Thank you for posting them ex-railwayman.
That whole route has been relayed, and is now joined to the complete network that was north of Cambridge. Just track though, no scenary.
R3's Stratford 47's bring back some wonderful memories. It was a real treat to see them in Cambridge back in the day (more of a treat now I would imagin!). We used to 'Cab' them as they ran round the train for the return to Liverpool Street.

Hello Chris, yes, R3's Class 47's and tmz06003's Class 37's are absolutely brilliant for this layout and I got a toffee-apple Class 31 on there as well, it does bring back great memories of how things were years ago, and if you've extended this route then that sounds excellent, cannot wait for it to hit the DLS.

Hi folks, here's some pics from my Lavenham winter layout in TC3. It was meant to be done by Christmas, but, as usual, I got sidetracked into doing lots of intricate detail at the expense getting the thing 'done'. Will I finish this one?
Anyway, this is a short DEM route based on Lavenham in Suffolk with the usual artistic license taken (such as: I've turned it into a double track route when in fact it was a single track branch outside the station.)
(1) View of station and yard from the north (Cockfield) end:
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/paulsw2/Lavenham06.jpg
(2) Station and yard from the south (Long Melford/Sudbury) end:
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/paulsw2/Lavenham05.jpg
(3) View of the north end of station from the east:
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/paulsw2/Lavenham04.jpg
(4) A J39 hauled coal train leaves in the direction of Cockfield while Lavenham's J50 tank shunts the yard:
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/paulsw2/Lavenham03.jpg
(5) The coal train slowly passes the 'up' line Home signal as it pulls away in the Cockfield direction:
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/paulsw2/Lavenham02.jpg
(6) This is the one I entered for 'screenshot of the week'. Well, I like it!
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/paulsw2/Lavenham01.jpg
With all the snow and stuff, I think this layout looks "pretty". :hehe:
BTW. I've used FMA winter tracks for this layout and I think they look great. But for the first time looking at these pics I'm wondering if this is concrete sleepered track underneath the snow? Oops!

I've been using blank alphas to remove the logos and so on, but it added a significant amount of extra work though. So that would be perfect Tony if you can have a word in his ear. I've not heard from him since I requested a copy of the beta around 6 months ago.
Regarding the fence, it's called Woodhead communications wire, it's on the DLS. I'm not sure abut the fence though unfortunately, it's a separate item.

It's from vias3d.net - you need to sign up to download it though! The site is also in spanish so if you don't speak it you might want to use google translator.

Yep, this is my High Speed 1 and Kent Suburban route I've been working on since October. I better get a shift on doing some work on it though, I've been procrastinating a lot :D
I've found that a lot of European content looks the same in all European countries - I've got some German, Dutch, Spanish and Czech content included in the route at the moment. Work on my Dollands Moor route is progressing well. Any feedback will be greatly recieved, and if you'd like to try what I've done so far for yourself, I can emaiol you the CDP =)
Here is a route map I created. I will only be building the Great Western tracks:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/DollandsRouteMap.gif
The esit to the tunnel at the beginning of the route is now completed, and the freight siding has been turned into a reversal siding so trains can return to the other end of the route.I will be adding a freight siding somewhere else in the route instead now:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/A1080x675.jpg
The approach to Dollands Moor railway station, where pointwork has been updated:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/B1080x675.jpg
Dollands Moor station has now been completed. You can see in the distance a Stagecoach bus arriving into the stop by the station. This is now running on invisible track and comes and goes as you drive past:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/C1080x675.jpg
The area between Dollands Moor and Dollands City has had the land created, but needs fields added and animals, vegetation etc:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/D1080x675.jpg
This leads you under a new road bridge towards City Tunnel. You start to see the large city buildings now in the distance:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/E1080x675.jpg
Looking through the tunnel, we can see Dollands City station at the end:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/F1080x675.jpg
We are now at Dollands City, the only interchange station on my route. Here you can change onto Southern and SouthEastern services to London and Hastings. This station is build below ground:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/G1080x675.jpg
Outside the station, the lines split. The Southern and SouthEastern services run up the incline to Hastings, and Great Western services continue to the right towards another tunnel, leading back out into the country:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/Chris_Jeffery/screenshots/H1080x675.jpg
Trains finish here, as the line is closed for engineering works beyond this point. Epect to see some engineering trains as the route progresses! Thanks for reading!

If you think so Tony, the loco was caught in the headlight beam from the Class 47 to the right of the picture, I thought that maybe the spotlight had highlighted the logos more than normal as it wasn't a night-time run of the mill screenshot as such, I don't do those.......:hehe:

TS09 WBE isn't available in shops, you can only buy it from the Auran shop, via either the digital download or you can have the disc shipped to you.
The Digital download is what I went for, although, beware that it is big download (I used my friend's internet cos it's faster, I'm not sure what speed, but it took 2 1/2 hours)
But I would say it's well worth it :D

Buying over the internet is completely safe, almost everyone does it. All you pay for is the game itself and postage and packaging. Auran Store, eBay, Amazon ect are all authorised shopping sites so there is no way they can take all your money. It might come out in the shops later on, GAME sells TRS2006.

There aren't any single track lines in Britain that run for 200 miles..you're talking the distance between Southampton and Leeds!
:p
Realistically, single track lines run from about 3 to 15 miles maximum, otherwise there wouldn't be any point in having the line.
The West Coast Mainline has 2-4 tracks and is over 200 miles

I wasn't in Uni and the trains start from Littlehampton anyway. My dad told me about it when he got back from London (As he is a subcontractor for LUL.). Besides, he does the Chichester <-> London commute (he goes via Havant before you ask), I do the Chi <-> Portsmouth commute. Thank god I don't need to go to either Portland or Lion Gate (2 of the UoP buildings), as they are nearer to Gunwhalf Quays than Southsea station.
I wonder if they should make that a requirement for all courses?

I like your route work Communist. Please do not take the following personally. This is not a criticism of you or your route, just something I've been meaning to comment on for a while. It just so happens that your screenshot illustrates my point perfectly.
That new TS2009 grass texture looks pretty odd in certain circumstances. Giant upside-down blades of grass!
Simply upping allowable texture resolution and then taking a few badly considered random ground shots and calling them the new standard ground textures doesn't automatically make them better. Auran's whole approach to improving the graphics in '09 seems to have been along the lines of "bigger textures and more polys". I personally am not convinced.

Well Stuart, it's my fault if it doesn't look better. You can rotate the textures to make them face the right direction, in that shot I only adjusted their scale. It's just the route is near on 250 base boards, my mouse can only point and click so fast within my windows of spare time. I only used the hi-res textures here and there as a test. I think they are a useful addition for route building.
I agree some of the new hi-res grass textures are crazy proportions. But it's just an example and a template for people to create their own textures. I think they look really good myself and show the potential. My only fault I have found with them is they have added some type of sun reflecting specular lighting to all of the hi-res textures. Including gravel that should have a non-reflective finish.
Without taking things too off topic, you forgot to mention why you don't want to see more hi-res textures. the previous small sized textures where awfully restrictive.

Auran's whole approach to improving the graphics in '09 seems to have been along the lines of "bigger textures and more polys". I personally am not convinced.
But on this point you are incorrect, their policy has been to take advantage of new hardware features to optimize and improve the graphics engine. The only gripe I have with their choice was the decision to lower the quality of trees.

Well Stuart, it's my fault if it doesn't look better. You can rotate the textures to make them face the right direction, in that shot I only adjusted their scale. . .
I respectfully disagree that it is your fault. There are many many existing textures that look good independent of their rotation or viewing angle. That to my mind is the very essence of a good ground texture. I realy don't feel that you can justifiably accept "fault" here. If, as you suggest, you rotate the texture to appear more realistic from this angle, it will still look wrong from the opposite side of the track. This is the basis of my argument. Photo textures don't seem to work particularly well for terrain unless taken from almost directly overhead. Auran seem to have simply assumed that more resolution is better. You say that is not the case. Fair enough we have a difference of opinion and I for one can certainly leave it at that.
It's not that I don't want to see higher resolution textures or for that matter items with more polys, but these things are not an adequate substitution for modelling intelligence. I was looking at the new TS2009 SD40-2 model the other day. It is missing paint all over the bodywork with rusty patches and streaks the size of broadsheet newspapers and yet, the body curves reflect light as though the whole thing has a quarter inch thick layer of gloss varnish on it. I guess my point is that more pixels, more polys and more gloss effect do not by themselves make an object more visually convincing.
But on this point you are incorrect . ..
Fair enough. It still seems to me though that the "advantage" they have taken of modern hardware is simply to throw more pixels and polys at it.
Apologies for wandering from topic.

Your thoughts are not much different from my own at the beginning, for example when I first read about bump mapping (ancient feature) being included and so on. But really creativity wins at the end of the day and what the talented host of creators will come up with is the most important. Most features are not forced down our throats currently, except the tree problem...
OK I promise no more off topic posts!

Hiya all :)
The First Route To Be Completed Will Be The Maplstead Route:D But Network West May Take Some time To Complete:(
Claradonian Is In in the First Stage Of WIP And It Will Be Released After Maplstead Route Is Complete:)
So I Will Keep Info On My Latest UK Routes:D
And Keep An Eye Out For Ascot Third Rail (Very Early WIP:( )
So Keep In touch

So Here Is My Very Early WIP Route Ascot 3rd Rail It Runs from London Victora+London Waterloo To Lewes Via Ascot And Uckfield:)
The Sad News is It Will Take A Long Time To Make The Route Is At Least 50 Miles Long And Only Started At Ascot The Current Bit Im Working On Is Ascot To Lewes Via Oxted And Uckfield And THen The Bit To London Via Clapham Junction It May take a While:(
Don't Forget That The Third Rail Bit Runs Between London And Oxted And The rest Of The Line is Diesel Beyond Oxted To Lewes Via Uckfield :) But The Third Rail Goes To Lewes Aswell The Two Lines Split At Oxted And Meet At Lewes:)

We can all still read your posts even if it's in the standard Forum text.

And adding to what Emo said, it's better to post a screen shot with your info, people will be much more excited and look forward to your large route if they get a little taster ;)
Let us know if you need any help with posting a screen shot. I suggest to also check out the sticky that explains this also. However use www.photobucket.com, as imageshack.us is very slow.

I've never really appreciated my own handy work when it came to the 305s, until I saw that shot! I think the textures could do with a big update, like better photoshopping, the lines between the doors for example, could be a lot better. Oh and bump mapping.
(Note, I never made the 304s, yet, they are sort of Pseudo 304s, when I get my rear out to do a DBTSO, I'll upload it.)

Its nice to think this forum contains some very polite people. :-)
Yes, you both are allowed, I understand some have reskins of specific work and as long as you don't copy mine and pass it off as yours, then I don't have a problem really. Its those that don't do any work and pass it off as their own, is the ones that get me. EDIT: I may restrict reskinning on some objects, but thats because I've worked soo sodding hard, I don't want to wreck it. It doesn't affect current objects though.

An Announcement from me.
Anyone who was waiting for me to release a reskin of a class 117 into NSE livery, I apologise, but I shall no longer be releasing it, due to some texture issues on the DMS. They are small, but they bug me, so I shall not release it for this reason.
It's a shame really, as the DMBS was complete, and I had permission from WEN to release too.
Although, if anyone thinks can they can offer me a hand with the DMS do let me know
Thanks.

LOL, I am not bothered really, we can have a temp object uploaded, when I've deemed it complete, just reference it with a new version. I've started considering installing TRS2004 on my Toshiba laptop now, since it is old enough and a good test machine. I have something like 8 of the damm things (don't ask, they make good render farms.), so I might as well have bespoke uses for them.
Still, I need to complete some work as well, I'm a C++ programmer now, so it should be theatrically far easier to complete some stuff. Probably at an expense of a Microsoft mouse.
EDIT: RitcheRails, you're not the first 04 user, there's another one that asked me about my railbus via email, except I forgot to email him back with the fixes. I had a 3 hour exam yesterday and I was trying to concentrate on that.... OOOPS!

Good point, as long as my 6 year old(!) Toshiba doesn't cook itself. Its a P4 1.8ghz with a gig of ram (crashed when 2GBs was added, like my Aspire 9810 I tried 4GBs and it absolutely hated it.), Geforce 4 Go MX440 with 32mb of RAM, it ain't no speed demon. :-)
But it does as a test machine, if the display doesn't die first (like the sound)

Pellet I hate to tell you this but you can't have that combination as the 508's can only work in multiple with the class 507 and 508's only sorry ;)

They can, of course, couple mechanically and pneumatically. Had Silverlink not given the repairs and maintenance contract to Willesden depot, seeing a 313 hauling a 508 might've been a common place sight, as it was proposed originally that Bletchley should carry out that work.

Do they have the haulage capacity to haul a Class 508 on the WCML? And their being no electrical connection between the 2? I thought 313s only had 880 horses anyway.

Silverlink seemed to think they could, but there were some doubts about whether the 313s were powerful enough to haul a 508, dead, over that distance. We'll never know now, though.
I'm glad I caught you... Have a look at this image (http://images1.fotopic.net/?iid=yw4mq7&outx=600&noresize=1&original=1&nostamp=1) and tell me what's unusual about the MBS...

Its a Class 308/4(?) MBS, contains no passengers (when built), but intended for luggage. All rebuilt later as passenger cars. They're intended for the LTS lines for services in and out of Tilbury...
... hang on, thats got the conversion, right?
EDIT: Found one with an MLV in the formation: http://davidford663.fotopic.net/p56148782.html

There's no fooling you, is there :hehe:
It has indeed got the conversion - and images of those cars are actually quite rare, apparently.

I know theres no fooling me, its called research! I thought they were rebuilt to the same style as all the rest of them, doors at every bays, rather than including MKI windows.
As for rarity, what, the pre modification? Or post modification or both? CJM had a good one, but its not on his page anymore.

Post modification images are, I believe, quite rare. The interiors also differed from the standard class 308 MBS', in so far as they were similar to that given to the class 310 MBS'.
