It's all about money I'm afraid Louise.

Fortunately, I may have found a way around that, buy asking someone to get me it for Christmas or Birthday!

Now I need to keep tabs on all of the TC3 content being released in that time!

I like those pics..... and they're really good for a beginner(I didnt see the join date to see when you joined). Here's a 'lil tip though: Press Ctrl+H to rid of the junction arrows, and try to make the layout fully texturized(no "grid" texture), and also add in one of those nice backgrounds that give it atmosphere, like those skyscrapers and the hills. Your gonna fit in very well around here. I know it. You can also, if you havent already, register for the UKTrainz forums, and you can get the latest info on trains thru-out the UK.

Thanks for the kind words!! I think the problem is that I went in way too deep too quickly and now I am trying to build a massive route and never seem to get anywhere, but don't want to start a new one because i've been working on that route for a long time. I have been using TRS for a while now, definitely took over from MSTS and KRS but I only recently started using these forums.

I'll try and get those released in the next week, or the ones i've done anyway. Try and get them on the DLS as well, although I think the sizes are a little out i still like the look of them, even if that does sound big-headed :hehe:

With all the interest in screenshots of class 40s appearing recently, I thought I'd post a few also:

You need these settings and a white sky like himmel. The second pic shows that a blue sky doesn't work.

Himmel is by niffi - Kuid:147131:251092 Niffi_w@gmx.de

It was downloaded with a demo layout, but you could easily make one yourself. Swap the sky image for an image same size, but white graduated to grey at the bottom.

Thanks for the comments mate (that's a compliment indeed coming from you)! A huge thanks to UK901Y for the phototextures also.

The big problem is going to be getting permission to circulate these, sdark has not been on the scene for some years now. I sent two e-mails, both of which bounced, but I've since sent another e-mail through this forum.

Glad you like them, I've toned all of the reskins in with the 24s and 25s so they can all be used together.

Communist

@tmz I checked your 24's and 25's next to the 31 I've been working on and they look similar enough to be useable together. Varying degrees of dust and sun fading can cause a large selection of colourings and tones to exist on locos that originally were painted with nearly the same mix of paint each time :). My main gripe with content recently is with the levels of specular being added to some custom and built in content.

Reskinning aside I'm now at the stage where my route has become ripe, where it's hard to get anything done on it, as most of the time is spent driving on it and 'testing' it :D. My only regret is making it modern image, as the TC3 steam effects are so good and driving so fun it's generally been steam specials running on it so far.

Don't worry about that Commie, I've made all of my TC3 layouts into modern and steam era, so I have 2 routes now for each sector, haven't finished enhancing all of them yet though, it's a big job with signalling, tree-planting, etc, but it keeps me out of mischief......:hehe: I could make your layout into 2 models, one for steam and one for diesel. If your route is as good as your reskinned locos, then it'll go down a treat with us all, I'm sure.

Thanks for that. I realise that now looking at the other screenshots, but I think when I started the route (I sort of started it, then went off using MSTS and KRS a lot and then came back again) I thought I'd get the track done and then do the terrain after. Now I realise that was a mistake :D.

I might work on another route and see what results I can get. Glenn

If I were you, I would get a map of a route out and follow it fairly closely. Or, lay a length of track along several boards and add spline points and pull it into some nice gentle curves. Lift the land off the zero level to say 5m Adjust the radius of the tool to maximum and add some height to the land raising it above and keeping some below the track and then reduce the radius of the tool and cut some grooves in the land to feature weathering. Then use the smoothing tool to pull the ground to the track. You will then end up with cuttings and embankments. Run house splines or blocks of terrace housing on level ground. Make some level ground if you wish and put single houses on sloping ground.

Pick yourself some nice trees out of this thread I did - http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?p=4541#post4541 - and make sure you randomly rotate them. Get some road bridges across the line, railway crossings and underbridges.

Adding stations on curves makes them more interesting. Lay a length of 14/16 carriages to lay the platform against, for clearance. When you build your station make sure there is a good road network to get to it.

Add some fields and apply the field textures, but put irregular shaped fields in. Factories were mainly built near rivers and the railways usually followed them, so get them in together and put the houses overlooking them.

Yeah, I'd been using 25229 as the benchmark for everything I do, especially as Peter Hicks's Mk2s seem to agree! Like you, I've intentionally changed the colours slightly so that corporate blue does not become corporate bland. I also notice, in the screenshots recently posted by ex-railwayman with my reskin of 55015 on the Mk2s, that these match nicely too. The 40s are a similar hue so we now have a lot of stock that matches nicely.

It would be good to adopt the Mk2s as a rough standard, stick your BR blue locos against Peter's Mk2s, if they look similar, then they are OK!

Hay escafeld the Black 5 has a thread in freeware so you should look there.
As for the layout I haven't got very fare yet into it. It is Nuneaton Before Electrification. If you look back through the thread there are some screen shots of my first attempt at My Local railways. Which got a little out of hand. I also have alot more information. So I can make it more accurate.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I could work from a map as it sounds to organised for me but the rest sounds more interesting. I usually like to start from a town centre and work outwards from there as well.

With regards to this is is possible to lay your own platforms that are passenger enabled?

Ben what about 20031? not mainline cert but she is in those colours at the KWVR ;)

Unfortunately that one has disc headcodes, we don't have a disc headcode fitted 20. I'm advised that the mesh was corrupted so a new one would have to be built from scratch. The only mesh copy that may still exist might be in the possession of Sulzerkid who created the DRS 20s, I've tried to contact him about it a couple of times but have had no answer.

Best to just reskin it and leave the auto numbering in place, then choose whichever loco you like above 20128.

Ben what about 20031? not mainline cert but she is in those colours at the KWVR ;)

Suppose I could do that one too, easy enough to alter the numbers and make a variation on the "weathering". However, it'll have headcode panels, which 20031/096 don't have, so it'll be a tad unrealistic I'm afraid.....Unlesss someone is willing to alter pacificseven's 20 in order to remove the headcode panels? (as someone did in order to do the DRS 20/3's, but unfortunately they never made a copy before attaching the WIPAC's to that particular mesh!)

No, one BR blue 20 and a couple of HNRC BR two-tone grey 20's (anything from 20031, 20096, 20901 and 20905). Will probably do 20031 and 20905 (the latter does have headcode panels, so will be perfectly realistic anyway). The BR blue 20 will just use the changeable number system.

But still, there's nothing quite as carefree as having CMP do everything for you. Leave it unattended with a FCT and it rocks :). I think the sims perfect now, it only needs stability and bugs removed. Oh wait a sec what direction are they going now....

Perfect? And it only needs stability and bugs removed!
Somehow I don't think so..... ha, ha...

...add some height to the land raising it above and keeping some below the track...

Adding stations on curves makes them more interesting. Lay a length of 14/16 carriages to lay the platform against, for clearance. When you build your station make sure there is a good road network to get to it.

I know this isnt exactly to the guidlines but any first impressions on my new approach?

Haha! Well, that's more like it, well done.

It's difficult to match bridge track with the track you use, on the whole. I mentioned in 'Tips and Tricks', that I now lay all the track and then sink the bridges just beneath it. See here - http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=6105&page=5

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I could work from a map as it sounds to organised for me but the rest sounds more interesting. I usually like to start from a town centre and work outwards from there as well. With regards to this is is possible to lay your own platforms that are passenger enabled? Glenn

I've just spotted this. I've downloaded straight platform lengths with track, that are enabled, but not so sure about curved. Having said that, one of these has a curved bay/through. If I get time to wade through 21GB of downloads, I'll let you know. I also have curved sections of track which are enabled. I would just have to add the platform to suit. Never used them yet and probably never will. I think they came from a European site.

Don't I know it!! I had to first find a bridge that suited my needs (i.e one without supports) and then I had to lift it up so it got over the edge of the retaining walls for the lower platforms.

Nice pics escafeld, yes, as Kimmy says, they most certainly are for TRS2004, that's the version I used to create the reskins. They work in an old copy I installed of Trainz1.3 also. These are reskins of sdark's excellent class 40 mesh, not the new TC3 only version.

If you are looking for them on the DLS, kuid is 283805, remember to tick the Trainz box or they will not show up as they are trainz build 1.3.

Due out soon is the VDA masterfully created by Greenie, with the texture templates created by TMZ06003 to ensure technical accuracy and precision and the textures made by me. In the pics are the following items not yet released: TEA reskin, original model by Eldavo, permission not yet requested.
A remix of the blue TC3 37. and a few other items. At this moment I'm working on an 08 shunter in a heavily weathered BR Blue coating.

@Tony, Thanks mate, I can't take too much credit/claim on these wagon's of JohnWhelan that also use parts from PaulHobbs. The textures I've just reworked. but I'm happy with how the rust has turned out. I'll try that technique on some other stock, let me know if you want anything rusted to similar effect.

@Zec Rail

Ahh great, so maybe I've written the smoke part fine but the DLS is just rejecting it for the reason of 'guys on holiday in the UK and no one thought to let anyone know why their content is being rejected..' Lucky I mentioned it, thanks alot for the info, has saved me time ;)

I reskinned your RF VDA template and inserted a new texture and then I weathered the new texture to prodyce the 5 different skins. I haven't weathered your templates. Just so you know the process they are going through at the moment. I think your template textures are good enough that we should release two different versions maybe. Phot-skinned and your skins. Then everyone is happy, as some people prefer non-phot while others prefer phot-skinned

It is a very nice looking and detailed loco but blimey £9.95?! I understand alot of work has gone into it but still think it is way too highly priced. Trainz 2006 can be had for near enough that amount. If it was more like £4.99 i'd part with my money. Nudge nudge @ the creators at railwaves.com :p

I got it from trainzmotion.cz
I actually did a little reskin, changing the logo to "Balfour Beatty" since there aren't any Tamper models I've found that belong in the UK - although this model looks similar to a tamper that sits in Woking yard..

Click "Download" on the menu and download "Plasser & Theurer 08-275 ZW"

Have a look under my kuid, 283805. They are named BR yard lamp eastern region. Meshes kindly prepared by Greeni, textures and nightmode by myself. You can also use misc ladder 10m vertical black, just place it against the lamp and sink it into the ground to suit.

These are basically the yard lamps at the former Finsbury Park depot.

48077 awaits departure on the Sundays only Anhydrite train to the docks. Unfortunately, on this occasion the loco later failed, so the train was cancelled, and still lies dumped in the yard, having lost its path inbetween the engineering trains. It is not currently known when the train will be fit to move, or indeed when an extra path can be gained.

D6791 has arrived at its destination, Scarva, 5 minutes late. It was due to leave the depot at 08:30 exactly, but did not leave until 08:35, due to a minor fault with the loco, which, obviously, was rectified.
