It was the virgin XC sets that were reduced to 5 cars so they could match (just about!) the acceleration of a vogager :)
Rio's were usually 8 car sets though I've seen pics of 7,6 and even 5 car sets running about !

Great shots all.
Regarding the 3rd rail, sometimes the AJS station insists on placing the track that way around at the station section, so the choice is either have the rail on the wrong side, or have a small piece jutting out of place in the middle. Maybe a way to stop it happening. Meanwhile I want to release this route as it only uses a little custom content.

Thanks Micheal, yes there is a lot of grass. I plan to have only DMU's on the route, so I made the loco release area more grassy looking since I don't intend to run many on this section of the route.
It's more though that I've sort of based it off this location on my website.:D

Now before all the accusations start flying about that I'm out to steal Isaac's thunder with his class 175 , I'm not ; this has been knocked up from the old auran Mk3 shell after some constant pestering from the nipper and it is his going home present . It may see the light of day if Isaac doesnt get permission to release his but it's way down the list of stuff that needs completing and releasing (142 , dvt , HST ,442 , 86 etc)
so please don't ask about it's release until I know what Isaac is doing with his version...

You can find these excavators on this site. DOWNLOADS - TRS-1017rus (http://trs-1017rus.ucoz.ru/load)
page 6 3rd item down.
Fantastic as always Nexus and harcourt, Nexus i know this is kind of a request for a release/build, but i have noticed in many of your shot's you have some very nice modern OHLE equipment, i don't know if these are from another site or one of your creation's, I am getting rather bored of the built in Auran ones, I did also buy the set off railwaves but can't seem to get on with them (a lot of faffing around ) i like spline's, I love your scenery object's. Maybe sway your attention to scenery for a bit.

Now I've finished with my Kelly Island Route which won't be uploaded (it was an experimental route - i'm still amateur) I'm working on a bigger and better route. It's a semi-real route based in Hampshire on the South Western Mainline.
The route starts at Southampton Airport Parkway, and i'm aiming to end it at Redbridge. If i get the chance, I might take it through The New Forest.
Heres a few screenshots to show you the progress so far:

So what can you do then? His reskins were made around 2003 and 2004 when we didn't have anything so you can't critise his work just because there are now higher quality skins to download. Have you even tried doing reskins. I do a lot for my routes that I never release and they are a lot harder than making the route. it's like your critism of Nexus 158773, unless you can do better, don't post things against people than telling them they are rubbish.

York station still needs the ticket office and WH smiths buildings completing (hence the low camera angle to hide the gap) plus I need to build some ECML style 25kv single gantries as I'm using Snowsignals payware pack at the moment. :)

Really nice shots everyone. Couldn't sleep last night so I got up early and knocked this together. It's loosely based on Dewsbury Midland, a station of the past. The bridges are AJS Portal Wing Wall splines and FMA girders. I did a thing about it in the Tip and Tricks-Surveyor thread.
The spline that's holding up the track in the first and second shot is damm, by Niffi.

Great looking shots Escafeld but surely you mean Dewsbury Central? The Midland station was a very short lived terminus.I visited the remains of Dewsbury Central in 1978, and saw a magnificent P4 scale model of ot at an exhibition a couple of years ago.
escafeld
August 19th, 2008, 05:05 AM
I was looking through my back editions of Railway Modeller and an article about Dewsbury Midland is in the December 1973 edition and written by Arthur Whitehead. A line drawing shows the tail-end of a platform with canopies and the road and river bridges. What precedes either end, I have no idea. I looked at the area in maps.live.com, which shows the area quite clearly in 3D. The article goes on to say that there never was a Dewsbury Midland passenger station, just goods throughout its length, but I wasn't interested in reading the article until now, just doing the railway from the drawing, which obviously has some artistic licence.
Thanks anyway.
BTW, I'm hoping that FMA will produce some very tall weathered brick walls so that I can replace the AJS ones, which are very good, but look out of place here. Did anyone at FMA 'hear' that?

Hi vendel / Gábor
Firstly, let me, on behalf of all that use your products, thank you for all your time and trouble in producing such excellent content, it really is quite stunning.
I left Trainz for quite some time and didn't regret it and I took up photography again and got out into the fresh air. I guess everyone needs a break from Trainz, now and then, as it can become quite an obsession. I just use it for relaxation now, rather than a chore.
* * * * * * *
In answer to your question, I think the AJS wall is 25m, but I would need to check on that - I could be way out, but it needs to be very tall.
If you should decide to make any walls, I would be grateful if you would make three versions - with and without the capping stones and those with and without piers. I really is a pain making the piers :hehe:
If you are only wanting to make one wall, then without capping stones, or piers. You can always add piers and use cable box for the capping stones, but you can't take them away if they're there and you don't want them. :D
Kind regards
Dave

Hi Ex,
Thanks for putting my WCL1 route up again, brought a tear to my eye and many fond memories.
I must have another run on that myself, it's been a while now....
Angela
Hello Angela, how's your eyesight these days ??
Yeah, I managed to get some more RAM installed on my PC, so I can download some of the bigger routes on the DLS now. Since I took the screenies of your WCL part two layout, I've always wanted to try your Part 1 section, and a real beauty it is as well, so now I can, and I even got all 71 DEM HOG texture kuids into my world download folder.......:hehe:
So, just for you, here's a few more pics, now that I've managed to get the underground tracks and trains set up, and put a few more trees on, it's a fabulous route, I used to work near Paddington station over 20 years ago, so it brings back memories for me also. You've done a magnificent job on this layout, so much detail, it's absolutely stunning, a true Trainz gem.....
Take care of yourself.
Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

Nice looking route there ben, Did you have a nice touring around.
Yes thanks :)
The line is formed like this:
Depot + Yard + Station > Junction > Short (ish) 2-track branch line > Station + Junction 2 > Portal.
Junction 2 diverges off as a single track (and fairly overgrown) freight line to a power station, which ends at the power station where there's a run-round loop/headshunt.
It's about 25-30 boards in size. It's got a lot of detail in the bits that are nearest to the track, but then less and less detail as the boards move away from the track. The unique thing about the route is that you can treat it as a modern day preserved railway (like the Great Central, for example) which has a "mainline" connection (like the Nene Valley Railway, Swanage Railway etc), you can treat it as a modern day passenger/freight branch line with retro signalling (there are routes remaining in the UK which still use semaphore signals, or a mixture of semaphores and colour lights) or finally you can treat it as a 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's route by removing a couple of the more modern items (there's not many). In fact, the route probably represents the transition between old and new signalling very well.
The power station branch is entirely colour light signals, but the rest is semaphores. Personally, I treat the route as a 2-track freight only branchline, and treat the depot as a mini preserved railway / heritage centre. One station acts as a closed one, whilst the other is part of what I call the "heritage centre". There's also a siding round the back of the "heritage centre" which is part of a small scrap yard.
The route features:
*Modern and retro signalling
*Modern speedboards throughout (remove/replace as necessary, if you wish to use the route outside of it's intended era)
*A railway heritage centre (retro station, loco/rolling stock repair depot, sidings, car park)
*Nice amount of track to explore, with lots of pointwork
*Power station with it's own branch line, diverging off the main network
*Portal with minimal amount of "clutter" around it, to allow for easy merging with other routes. Portal also acts as tunnel leading to the "national network".
*Large amount of detail nearest to the track
*Three signalboxes to support signalling system (two open, one closed)
*Realistic track, trees, scenery, vegetation etc
I may add a bit more to it, but essentially the route is finished. An extension to it could be built in the future though. Am hoping to release it on Friday, subject to the usual disclaimers. Will try and post some more screenies later or tomorrow, anyway :)

Dave, yes you're correct, I recreated the Connolly Station area, with those junctions. The scenery isn't very accurate though, as is the route, its a shorterned version of what it is in real life.:)

Hi Ciaran,
Don't worry about the canopy, I am sure we were only pulling your leg. It was a very minor point on an excellent route. A big well done for that.
It's 'Murphy's Law' that any mistake made will be picked up by all and sundry, and I have made plenty of mistakes myself, so am in no position to shout about other people's.

The 90 looks to me like it's the payware version available from railwaves but as they are quite a bit (a lot ) behind the times that particular skin is not available, I would most probably say it's one of his own excellent Re-skins.

The FSR reskin I did won't be released just yet due to me accidently trashing the file, but I retained all the bits and bobs and will rebuild it (better!) in the near future. Hi Josh
Are you sure you aren’t thinking of Staintondale Station?
As best as I can ascertain the original SWR station at Hayburn Wyke was on the Up line, opposite that shown in this and the previous screenshot
This was a all wooden structure on very tall stilts built onto the steep banking between the track and the Hayburn Wyke Hotel this closed around 1887 as being totally unsafe, the shot here depicts my interpretation of the new station from the Station masters house garden
I can find no sign of the original structure on photographs taken around 1903 and later shots all show trees growing right up to the line edge
Please don’t get me wrong here as all constructive comments are very much appreciated

I more then tend to agree, as I said in my last post the platform and station building on the opposite side of the was deemed unsuitable and replaced as shown around 1887
I’m pleased you mentioned the signal box, for some reason it reminded me that the station never had electricity so back to covering those power box’s up with something suitable

You'll be pleased to know I have several completed "scrap reskins" in BR liveries featuring classes 37, 87 (another one), 86 and a "scrap" mk.1 coach. I should be releasing loads of stuff very soon, so keep your eyes peeled on UK Trainz and in the freeware section of this forum, plus this screenshot section too. For you Commie, and anybody else who would like to know how to set your Train reporting Number, this is the TC3 method, I haven't tried it in TRS2004 or 06.
In screenshot mode then. In Surveyor go into edit session rules and then Driver Command, then tick the box accordingly.
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr135/ex-railwayman1/trainz2008-08-3016-41-16-90.jpg
Then in Driver mode. Click on the appropriate area tabbing across accordingly. Then when you've finished the number will automatically appear on your locomotive No. 1 end. You will have to do the same I think for the No. 2 end, unsure, I've never done it.......:hehe:
