Good morning Paul.
The "V6e" will be compatible with this line ??

.... so I can send you a beta if you're interested.........
Paul, thanks for the feedback. I would certainly be interested in a beta of the tram wire items you mention please for me to experiment with.
In addition to the items you have already mentioned, I'm also looking at using the trackside object tram poles on http://tramtrainz.net/trat.htm in conjunction with Rolf's combined track and wire.
I want to know where did you get the Hauptbahnhof?
For the Hauptbahnhof in my fictional tram route I have used "Budapest Terminal East". You can download it here: http://trainz.luvr.net/projects-view.php?pid=735&tab=f :)

I thought I would post a few screenshots of my latest work in progress; a city tram layout for the Hamburg V6E trams. The layout is purely fictious and is an extension of the V6E demo layout provided with the excellent payware V6E trams (http://www.v6e.de).

Thanks for the kind comments.
What will be its status "All On DLS", "some items not on DLS"
Most of the items are available on the DLS, although many items are from other sources such as www.trsbingen.de (http://www.trsbingen.de/), www.trsberlin.de (http://www.trsberlin.de/), and http://www.trainzdepot.net (http://www.trainzdepot.net/). If you have got "Altstadtlinie" by Connyxy, you will have most of the content required.
Now for a few more screenies:

A shortage of serviceable trams lead to previously withdrawn V6E 3601 (with adverts removed) being brought back into service. It is seen operating line 2 at Brandenburger Tor.

The tram name station sign displaying "Rödingsmarkt" is called "tramschild1" by Connyxy (kuid:69953:442119) and is included as part of a pack called "Haltestellenset2.cdp". It is available from www.trsbingen.de (http://www.trsbingen.de) (you will need to register).
The tram line number sign is called "Zastávkový sloupek AN" by Josh and is available from http://tramtrainz.net.
:) Hope that helps.

I'm leaving the wires to the last job as they take ages and you have to make sure you're totally happy with the track layout before you start. It can get very messy with all the splines!!!
Unfortunately, as my route includes the original payware "V6E Demo" route by Rolf Westphalen in it's entirity, I cannot upload my route to the DLS. :o Sorry guys, I think I confused people with my first post. My route is not an add-on to the "V6E Demo" route; what I meant to say is that I used the "V6E Demo" route as a starting point and began extending the lines.

Hi,
since all scenery objects of the route should be on the DLS, so you should be able to upload the route. I will talk with Rolf about it... .
But I must confess, I have no idea, if the "special triggers" for the tram stop and the signs can be found on the DLS. I will have a look... .

OK, I will await further instructions from Rolf and yourself.

The "special triggers" are not on the DLS. However, this shouldn't be a problem as if you don't have the V6E payware, they will just be missing assets and won't appear.
Just thought I would post a few more screenies showing how my route extends from the original "V6E Demonstration" route:
http://www.mark.hodgkinson2.btinternet.co.uk/images/V6E-14.jpg
The original "V6E Demonstration" route terminus square is shown to the left, with my line extensions to the right.

Here is the main junction on my tram route where the lines split in three different dirrections.
The main route to Veddel, Stadtpartk and Hauptbahnhof goes off to the left. The straight on route goes a short distance to Rödingsmarkt.

Hi,
Rolf will put the missing scenery objects and triggers to the DLS. So it should be possible to use the layout without the paywarepack with other trams and without missing objects. We see no problem to upload the modified demolayout to the DLS... .

The traffic lights don't work, but there is traffic on most of the roads.
I've spent a couple of hours this evening tidying up the Veddel area of my route near the City Hall.
As you can see, I've added an intermediate tram terminus and cafe:

Hi mark, looks like you are putting to-gether a fine layout,..I too am just starting to produce a layout along similar lines for the v6e tram,... unlike your layout , I will be building a totally all new layout and not incorporating the demo layout. What I am interested to know is whether you cloned the demo layout and then used the clone to add your new areas , or just added to the demo download ? I believe that cloning anything copies the item and adds your kuid to the new config. file but have not found anybody who has cloned anything...... anyway congrats. on your layout so far, looking great, am not far away from S.Yorks. I am in Warrington close to the wcl.....regards

I have now created a route map for my Hamburg V6E Tram Route which you can download here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/67756456/31a1acc4/Tram_Map.html
You will note form the map that I have used the place names available on the V6E blinds for my routes. Before I get any comments, please note that my map doesn't represent Hamburg in any way and is purely fictious.
Work is still progressing on the route, but I hope to have it on the DLS by Christmas.

Glad you liked the map Tom - incidentally, in case you hadn't already guessed, the hashed out terminus areas for tram routes 2, 3, 5 and 6 are all off-map areas with no scenery purely for autopilot trams.
The biggest job left to do on the route is all the wires! I keep putting it off for some reason. When you've got lots of wire splines on top of one another it can become a nightmare.

My self I use a simplified version, one its easyer for me and less problems for the computer to draw. one exmaple is on corners is one at right angles to each track as normal then only one on a angle to hold up the curved wire to a pole or building on the other corner.

I'm about half way through doing the overhead wires on my tram route using the method used by Rolf in his original V6E demo route. For those of you who haven't seen this route, the wire and support wires are all seperate splines not associated with the track. I have continued with this method for my route extension, but it is proving very tricky because of the large number of splines I'm having to put on the top of each other.
Today I have noticed that Rolf has uploaded to the DLS some new tram tracks (some which include the wire):
http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_packcontents.php?AssetPackID=16400
Now my question is, what method is best? On the one hand, with seperate overhead wire splines, the wires look more realistic as they are in straight lines but it takes an age to do, especially fixing up the supporting catenary wires. On the other hand, combined wire and track is less time consuming, but doesn't look as realsitic on curves because the wire forms a perfect curve.
Also, does combined track and wire use more system resources than seperate track and wire?
I thought I would gauge your thoughts and ask for your feedback before I do anything drastic with my route like relaying all the track with Rolf's new track.
NormP
November 15th, 2008, 03:48 PM
Mark.
I would go for the track with overhead wire attached every time.despite your aversion to the curves not looking realistic (too perfect) nothing beats the sight of the trolly pole following the O/Head ALL the time.
Yes I know just how much time will be consumed changing the track (been there done that), but you have allready found out the trouble involved placing OH seperately.
Norm.

I've done both - built in overhead wire is certainly easiest, but it's probably only worthwhile with a proper tracking overhead pole (I don't think that Rolf's do this). The issue with the built-in wire is that it can be difficult to make it look convincingly supported on corners. These are a few examples using built-in wire from my Westhaven Route (WIP):

They use Motorman1066's pull-offs and line hangers for 6.4m overhead, which are trackside objects (also with a scenery version). He has given me permission to upload a version lowered to suit European trams (which should match the V6Es), so I can send you a beta if you're interested.
I've also been playing with another method of doing overhead, using waygauges for both track and wire, and maximum use of trackside objects for supports. Corners are still a bit of a labour, but trackside modern style pull-offs help with this. The following thumbs illlustrate what can be done (note that the line hangers are by Motorman1066, and the poles by Andi06, used as attachments to save on manual placing):
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b124/paulzmay/th_Screen_144.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b124/paulzmay/?action=view¤t=Screen_144.jpg)http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b124/paulzmay/th_Screen_149.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b124/paulzmay/?action=view¤t=Screen_149.jpg)http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b124/paulzmay/th_Screen_151-1.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b124/paulzmay/?action=view¤t=Screen_151-1.jpg)

The route in the first 5 pictures is on the DLS in an earlier form as 'Westhaven Trams 1-1'. Neither the update, nor the other route are ready to Beta yet. I will be looking for someone to beta test the overhead in the second set of pictures soon.

I don't know what happended last night, but I appear to have gone back in time to 1970 when the V6E's were still operating (see the first page of this thread)
Anyhow, to avoid confusion, here's my post again, hopefully appearing in date order this time:
.... so I can send you a beta if you're interested.........

Was looking back through the posts, don't remember the Orange V6E in post 36 in the collection?, also looks like there could be a couple of other cars with new adds, now you fixed the postal van are you going to fix the add on thr Tram to match?

I am once again assuming that you're layout, and thusly the repainted bits to go with it, are in some capacity meant to replicate Hamburg before the Berlin wall was pushed over. If that indeed is the case, the license plates on all the vehicles you're using need to have pre-1994 German license plates, like this one:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/93/Plate-KA-RR232.JPG
You might want to change the registration seal to that which is used for Hamburg
There are a few exceptions to this rule. Vehicles owned by British soldiers in the British occupation zone were, as far as I'm aware, no different than normal British license plates. The only other thing you might want to make note of is that the postal vehicles need to have "BP" at the beginning, German military vehicles need to have "Y" and all German railroad vehicles (Bundesbahn ones) need to have "DB" at the beginning. And yes, if it hasn't yet occured to you, I am a rivet counter:p

Thanks for the information WileeCoyote. If I get chance I may do revised versions of the re-skins with pre-1994 plates, but to be honest I haven't being paying that much attention to detail.

Wonderful work! Is there any payware in this? Or is it just the stuff by Rolf(RW1HH) on the DLS?
The only thing that is payware are the actual V6E trams - www.v6e.de (http://www.v6e.de)
All the scenery items in my route are freeware.
Most of the scenery used is on the DLS so CMP will pick these up automatically. However, I have also used content which is not on the DLS from such sites as www.TRSBingen.de (http://www.TRSBingen.de), www.TRSberlin.de (http://www.TRSberlin.de), www.trainzdepot.de (http://www.trainzdepot.de) and www.tramtrainz.net (http://www.tramtrainz.net).
Is it worth posting a full list of required content now so that people are able to acquire it before I release the route?

Hi Mark,
I have just been reading this thread and your posts regarding your concerns about curved overhead in attched track/overhead assets not looking authentic. Here is a sample of customising I have applied to NormP's Surfside Trams layout. Still not yet convinced? I wish it would have been as easy to hold the trolley wire in position while all the spans were attached in real practice. (I wouldn't suggest hanging boat's ATLS traffic signals off the span wire in the real world though.):hehe:

Motorman, I appreciate your post regarding the overhead wires. What are the span wires you are using? They look fantastic! Looking at your shots, I think you have a valid point regarding curved overhead. However, as I have already completed the overhead wires on half of my route using separate wires as per Rolf's original V6E route, I think I will continue with this method throughout. If/when I should start a new route I will use the combined track/wire.

Hi i have been playing around with the V6E pack and i am having trouble working out what each of the triggers do... some i get it like the stop and the block sections... but what are all the little triangle ones at points and along the track and is there an order they need to go in etc when running...
Also does anything change if you change the file name or the pic that is on the triangles??
And can you anyone give a run down what everything means when you select each item when it has options with the (?) button
ta muchly :)

... but what are all the little triangle ones at points and along the track and is there an order they need to go in etc when running...
Most of the triggers are explained in the following English manual:
http://www.v6e.de/Handbuch_V6E_en.pdf (http://www.v6e.de/Handbuch_V6E_en.pdf)
The only one that is not covered is “Strab Rollbandsteuerung” (the green triangle), which was added to the V6E pack as part of Service Pack 1. This trigger sets the route number and destination of the V6E trams and can be either set to automatically change the route and/or destination of every tram that passes over the trigger (setze immer) or just trams in autopilot (setze nur autopilot).
If you open up the V6E demonstration route as an example of how to use the triggers, I’m sure you will pretty quickly get the hang of it.
... Also does anything change if you change the file name or the pic that is on the triangles??
I don't understand why you would want to do this as all the triangle trigger items are invisible when in driver?
... and can you anyone give a run down what everything means when you select each item when it has options with the (?) button
The best way to understand the options is to write down the words and use a German – English online translator as I did.
With the points (?) option box “Weiche aufschneiden” ticked means that the points will automatically set for a tram approaching the trailing end of either slip. Also, option box “auf rollband reagieren” ticked is for facing points when you want to automatically direct trams on one route left and other routes right. The sub option “nur fuer KI-Fahrer” ticked means that the point switching is only for trams in autopilot mode. “Links” is left and “Rechts” is right. With the option set on “Links” the points will direct all trams left unless they fit the criteria you list below this option. The tram routes you list will go right. Appropriately, with the option set on “Rechts” the opposite will happen.
Hope that helps; with a little bit of playing around you’ll soon have the hang of it. :)

Thanks for the reply it helps heaps... will see what i can do.
The reason i am changing the image and name is so that all the items i used on my layout are under the same name section in the lists and easy to find.
eg "YARRA TRAMS STOP" instead of "halt blah blah blah"
"YARRA TRAMS COMBINO WHITE FRONT"
"YARRA TRAMS TRAM TRACK" etc etc
It also helped to identify the V6E items clearly on the layout when editing stuff..

Thank you for all the kind messages I have received about my V6E tram layout in progress. Unfortunately, for one reason and another I haven’t worked on the route since last December. I do hope to complete it at some point.
However, you may be interested to learn that in the last few weeks I have started work on a new project which is an adaptation of the excellent tram route called “Mittelstadt” by Spikerod (Torsten) available on TRSBINGEN-NAHVERKEHR (http://www.trsbingen-nahverkehr.de). I have reduced the size of Torsten’s route from 5 to 2 base boards, added more tram lines and changed many things. It is my intention to hopefully get Torsten’s permission to release the route when I have completed it.
In the meantime, here are a few screenshots of the tram depot I have added:

As I continue work on my Hamburg V6E tram route, I have created some re-skins of Karelh's Škoda LIAZ 706 RT Popelářský Vůz (Garbage Truck) as shown below for use on my layout:-
http://www.mark.hodgkinson2.btinternet.co.uk/images/Liaz_RT.jpg
Karelh (Karel Hejnal) has given me permission to upload my reskins to the DLS and the 4 re-skins are currently awaiting approval.
The orginal model can be downloaded from http://trainz.jedisoft.cz. Search for "KH_Popelari pack" (You will need to register).

Hi Mark,
on all your screenshots I can see lots of "Trabis", "Wartburgs", etc.
While the time Hamburg had a tram there were not any cars from East-Germany. For your route you should better take VW-Beatle(Kaefer), VW Bully T1/T2, Mercedes L319, Porsche, BMW, Opel,Ford and other "West-Cars".
If you need pictures etc. from Hamburg, write a PM to me, cause I life there...
Cheers

The cream Mercedes MB230 is one of a set of cars created by Ulf Freudenreich, which I believe were originally included as part of German TRS2007.
However, the car is included as part of “GR_Content_korrigiert.cdp” which is included in Conny's Altstadlinie Tram Layout, which can be downloaded from here:
http://www.v6e.de/Altstadtlinie.zip (http://www.v6e.de/Altstadtlinie.zip)
on all your screenshots I can see lots of "Trabis", "Wartburgs", etc.

The V6E tram route I’m currently working on is an adaptation of the excellent tram route called “Mittelstadt” by Spikerod (Torsten) available on TRSBINGEN-NAHVERKEHR (http://www.trsbingen-nahverkehr.de (http://www.trsbingen-nahverkehr.de/)).
“Mittelstadt” was created by Spikerod as a DDR route, hence why the “Trabis”, “Wartbungs”, etc still feature on the route. I wasn’t intending on making my route truly authentic, after all Prague Castle features adjacent to the Rathaus! Having said that, I will try and incorporate more of the GR “West German” content into my route.

I LOVE IT!!! PLEASE RELEASE A BETA!!! :Y::clap::Y::clap::Y::clap:
I should hopefully have a beta version of my tram route available for testing within the next couple of months - I’ve still got one final tram line and terminus to finish. I will continue to post updates on this thread accordingly. There will be a PDF tram route map to go with the route too!
In the meantime, a couple more screenshots of my latest work around the city centre:

All my interests in Rail Roads once started about Trams. There has been a tram line operated in Chemnitz (my home town) in which cars have been used, been built in 1928. This cars remained until the end of line in 1889.
May one day I should dedicate some route and gmax creations to this line as well.
I just want to make a compliment to the creators of the contend been used in this route. It all looks just great!!
Cheers TUME

The tram stop sign is called "tramschild1" by Connyxy (kuid:69953:442119) and was included as part of a pack called "Haltestellenset2.cdp" from www.trsbingen.de (http://www.trsbingen.de). Unfortunately, together with loads of other fantastic content from Connyxy, the item is no longer available for download. :(

i see a problem here; in that if people download this route, then there's going to be a fair bit of missing stuff simply because we can't get it. why has all of conny's stuff vanished from TRS bingen anyway? why delete it all?

Just for your information, most of Bumbrdlik's content (plus a whole load of other great stuff) is also available on the Czech Trainz site http://trainz.jedisoft.cz.

The white surfaces are where the adverts should be. Have you deleted the werbung.tga file?
The V6E standard red and cream trams use 2 meshes (one with a grey roof and the other with a silver roof). For each individual traincar, one of the meshes is used. Inside each traincar asset, there are the individual adverts (the werbung.tga files). Obviously, for the overall advert cars, you will notice that there is both a mesh and traincar.
So, to do a re-skin you need to re-skin both a mesh and a traincar.
With my orange V6E car, I just painted the adverts in orange as there is no way to stop the advert images being applied to the side of the tram.
Hope that makes sense.

I'm currently working on a map for my route.
All things being well, I will be able to post a link to download it as a PDF file by the end of the week, but here's a quick look of how it's currently looking:

As work continues on my V6 tram route, you may be interested to learn that Rolf and Karsten's V6E website has been recently updated with a new page layout and graphics: http://www.v6e.de
The updated home page shows a glimpse of the still yet to be released V7BE trailer cars.

I wouldn't hold your breath too much; the V7BE trailer car 3D-models by Rolf are complete and have been for sometime, but they require scripting by Karsten (Coerni).
Judging by the following statement in Coerni's post in thread http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=34519&page=2, we may be waiting indefinitely:
............My motivation to invest even more time with this version of Trainz is extremly small, exspecially since my sparetime for playing with TRS is nearly gone, because of real life is getting more demanding at the time being.... .
