I've been searching the DLS for a UK guard's van circa 1940 - 1950.
I can't find anything. I'm probably not looking in the right place!
Can anyone help please?

Pikabird has nice bauxite (LMS style) brake van KUID 2512:15010:1 and tmz06003 has a series of brake vans. These all have TOPS coding so might be 10 years too late for your period.
Magandy and Jonny211 both have excellent pre-war brake vans that you could re-skin. In the very cash-strapped early days of BR, plenty of rolling stock ran in very faded pre-war liveries or with the company names roughly painted over, re-skinning would not involve any big changes.
Hope this helps,
Chris
