Folks,
For those looking for information to make their layouts/sessions more accurate...

RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch) recently released their report on a derailment in Birmingham...

http://www.raib.gov.uk/publications/...port162008.cfm (http://www.raib.gov.uk/publications/investigation_reports/reports_2008/report162008.cfm)

This report has lots of info regarding the loading, marshalling and dispatch of intermodal trains (and as an aside, as at 12:00 AEST 1st August, GoogleEarth imagery for the accident location still shows the derailed train and the recovery crane-train!)

The RAIB website also has a lot of reports on other rail/tram incidents which go into maintenance & operation of both track and rollingstock.
Their photos and diagrams are also useful. Well worth a look if you're building a present-day UK Trainz layout/session and you can also subscribe to be informed of new reports being released!
