I read about Basemap A, and can't get it right. How else do you resize and superimpose a Topo map, or Google Earth satelite image over top of a Trainz route you are building ? I need detailed instructions on how to do this as I am not very computer literate. Trainz 2006

Have a look here, and go through the threads, there are some instructions within them.

The link does work, I've just used it to fetch this page.

If you can't use that link, the you will struggle with Trainzdem.

I have used Google Earth images, my tutorial might help you:

Note that this method allows you to position and locate objects, but does not give you ground texturing or 3D information.

And, getting back to the basemap problem, here's the basemap tutorial.

There are several manual approaches to this.

A few months ago another Trainz route builder presented his method of adding floating "base maps" with Google Earth images to HOG-created TIGER/DEM-terrain. Unfortunately, I can't find it now.

Although there was a good deal of approximation in it, the method addressed the problem of matching the base map objects to the DEM terrain, using TIGER-based ground textures as orientation.

Basically, automation of this process in TransDEM (see above) implements a similar concept, but relies on proper, absolute coordinates throughout.
