merging routes together problem

I was wanting to know how to remove part of my route/map. the reason is because i have made 2 routes but they overlap where they meet. i was wondering how to remove the land. these 2 routes are big and if anybody knows what i should do please respond back to me.

You should not have to delete anything. If the routes over lap use the direction arrows on the merge tool to shift one of the routes into the position you want. This has to be done before you save the route/s as one route.

As ejlynch has mentioned, you do not need to delete anything on either route, (unless of course they are duplicated).
Use the direction arrows to shift the map until it is sitting correctly where you want it.
