Adjusting locomotive braking

I am new to Trainz and read that you can adjust locomotive braking in the relevant config file. My black A4 has demolished too many station ands. Can anyone tell me how to make these adjustments please?

Try max-decel 300000

As mentioned in many threads, you may need to delete your chump file for the change to be recognized.
