My Dear Fellow Trainzers,
Since the DLS is encountering technical difficulty now is a good time to introduce some third party sites that have great content to download for trainz. Be aware that some of these sites do not post some or all of their content to the DLS. Thats means if you use the content on a route and post that route to the DLS you will get complaints about missing content. With that said here are my picks:
Tall Trees & Boardwalk RR - dmdrake - Trees & Buildings http://www.ttbwrr.com/
North American Railroad Models - Locos & Rolling Stock
http://www.rrmods.com/
Please post your favorites as we patently await return of the DLS
Happy Holidays

Since Auran is too busy with the up coming TC3 to update the DLS, I thought I'd bump this thread so that we could recommend some good third party sites to continue our downloading habits.:hehe:

There's only 1 problem with "habit's", they are usually bad, sometimes illegal & normally expensive in one way or another. ;)

It's up again but something odd happened part way through the morning and I wonder if anybody else has had the same thing.
First thing this morning everything went as normal, click on download (ftp) and you had a choice where to put the item on your drive BEFORE installing it.
I have just been back for a barge and to get some bogeys for class 33's and now when you click on download it immediately begins the download, no choice as to whether you want to place it in a folder or not! At the end it simply asks you to click on install and that's it, no downloaded kuid. Can't say I like the idea much...

Sounds like your internet settings got changed maybe. Check Tools/Main/downloads and ,make sure "Always ask where to save files" is checked.

Hi and thanks,
But I am unsure where this is. Do you mean IE or the Trainz tools?
I looked in Tools in IE but there is no Main or Downloads anywhere.

I can't find it in IE7 either.
In Firefox 3 it's Tools > Options > Main > Downloads > Always ask me where to save files

Hi John,
I am a bit out of date, still have the previous version of IE, that's 6 I think....
Thanks for posting.
I had downloaded normally this morning and had done nothing to my PC, no MS upgrades or anything, and then this!

Hi and thanks,
I did what it said and checked the file extension but it IS checked for 'Confirn Open after download'.
So it should do what it's always done and that leaves me a bit stymied!
I tried to look at the exe file part but cannot find anything to do with EditFlags....

I haven't used DLS for download in months. I have found that Trainz Downloader pro is far superior. It also works all the time.

May I suggest as a next step moving over to Firefox 3? This is now available and is vastly superior to IE in MOST ways.

Good idea. IE remains available so you can use whichever browser you prefer each time. Installing Firefox is extremely simple. http://www.firefox.com

I did try Firefox and couldn't get on with it so it got sent to a darkened corner. It's probably still there sulking!
Then MS installed IE7 on my PC one day during an upgrade and I couldn't get on with that either so went back to IE6. But my second PC does have IE7 and I have got more used to it now.
But not Firefox - it got fired (and foxed).
