Angle adjustment?

On certain routes i have seen things like fallen trees which i want to use, so i got the object but when i placed it it was standing up!? how do you change the angle of objects like that?

Certain objects are able to be tilted by using SHIFT+rotate. It depends on the config file tag rotate-yz-range -180,180
