My turn...

My QR route is coming along well. I've added couple more boards to allow for a livestock yard and town. Dawson is the 4th town on the route, a cattle train has to go to Alva first. A loco will be waiting there to take the train to the meatworks.

2122F heads a cattle train out of Dawson, bound for Alva.

Wadalbavale is correct. The powers-that-be (i.e. me) decided that as it is no longer a terminal station, it needed a new yard to reflect its new status. It also needs to handle longer trains and an increase in both passenger and freight so the yard has been expanded to reflect this.

Its a shame this often didn't happen in real life:hehe:
There are a few "mid-way stations" where back in the steam days they had to back a train in as they saw no need to make it a "drive-through" yard:p

Hi all,

Have been busy with the Petrie to Caboolture section and my dalby map.

I would post some screenies, but they all seem to come out a bit less colorful and makes all the trees look like theyre covered in snow........

Colhad, is that 1502 class on the DLS?

And also, any news on Dreddmans loco's yet, I cant wait!

Yeh, I sort of thought about that when I started making the town. A cattle yard near a town. I thought, well bugger it, it's a fictional route I'll just go ahead with it.

The one at Dinmore on the Ipswich line is fairly close to a town.

My upcoming release either later this year or early next year:
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z148/MercedesO305_3079/shortvale.jpg
Starting in 2006 as Valley Coal, alot of Kms of track have been added and the scope of the layout increased to include petrol trains, coal trains, wheat trains, steel trains and intermodal trains, but if these long haulers don't suit your needs you will be able to take part in other driving activities such as comandeering 80 Class to bank engines over the ranges, or shunt the yards model off real life areas wuch as Carrington, Morandoo, Koorangang and Werris Creek utilising the venerable 48 Class. This route aspires to give you the feel of the trains based around Newcastle, with the exception of being semi fictional.

Natvander, I assume all that shell depot stuff/Caltex depot stuff is all new models? It's a great looking fuel siding, I'm always questing after a fuel siding that looks "right" without being too cluttered, so those models are going to be fantastic.

If any of those models are on the DLS, I'll be sure to nab 'em. If they are your own work, you know we'll all wait patiently.

I've uploaded them and they are waiting approval by Auran. The items are very basic but should add a slight CityRail/Sydney feel to your stations.

3.5m and 5.0m versions are uploaded.

Off Topic - I can't believe my previous content uploads (3 years ago) have both had over 8500 downloads.:o

I'll keep a look out for them. Thanks Deadly. Is there any chance you can make a Countrylink sign from your CityRail sign.

exporting a model to trs

open the scene(model) select file/ export a window will appear for you to navigate to custom/trains in trs.
when you get to the required folder create a new folder with the name of what you are exporting, then open that folder and create another folder called "loco_body", open that folder and in the open window there is a place to save the filename as"filename.im" ( call it whatever you want) type that in and press save. You have just exported the mesh. Now in gmax click on the tab with the hammer on it, select resource collector a window will open where you will see the mesh files and all the texture.txt files click on use path. then scroll down a little to where you will see "begin" click that you have just exported your textures.
if you get error mesages while exporting the mesh saying textures were not mapped to a part of the mesh, take note of which part and then select that part and apply a uvw modifier and re export the mesh, there may be several of these errors so dont freak. for shadow files when you have setup the folder just copy/ paste the.im file from loco_body into the shadow folder and name it whatever it is named in the config. remember all the file names should be reflected accurately in the config or it wont show

all that needs to be done now is for you to go to trs and write config etc. the best way to get the hang of this for all the different types of structures you can export is to look at what has gone before you for folder layout and structure.

I've done this from the top of my head, so if you have more queries flick me a mail

Good Explination Pete..... But I do it slightly different
I dont use resource collector I already have the texture files in a named folder ready to be copied into trainz (world/custom/trains if in 04) I always get a model going in 04 before I wory about 06 all that CMP rubbish .....and I Have nothing selected?
Hurleyco things to remember you will have to export in 3 pieces loco&att points front and drive bogeys and animation seperatly ....DONT EXPORT GROUPED ANIMATION!! the respective bodeys will have to be recentered after fitting realy you will need 3 scenes and export through Trainz Assett Creation Studio Hurleyco I'm impressed after 3 yrs fighting the Dots and Polys Lol it looks good Post here or email any questions you might have

import texture from?to where? into gmax or into trs? into gmax, most people make a folder in gmax /gamepacks/trainz for the particular model they are making. and save anything to do with it in the folder or are you talking about applying textures? this is getting a tad of topic it would be better to raise these questions in content creation

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I am having trouble downloading 4 items on the DLS. I thought of checking this thread but going through 140 pages may drive me mad (well madder then I already am :hehe: )

These just will not download and I have no idea why
63971:69041:2
63971:69037:2
63971:38010:3

This one is fault and shows 0kb of 0kb to download so I will also mention this to Auran with other similar errors.

63971:69040:1

Thanks for any help.

Not sure where I had trouble with 63971:38010:3 but I will run TO and see what happens.

The other two are your NSWGR D55 (kuid2:63971:69041:2) and the NSWGR D53 (kuid2:63971:69041:2).

The kuid2:63971:69040:1 is your D55 Tender, it shows the 0kb of 0kb as well.

The problem I get with these is that there is 0kb of 0kb to download.

Auran can fix this problem (well Alan and Lance could :hehe: ) so I will send them an email about this one as well.

Even though they may show many downloads this problem normally means the amount of people who have tried, and a consistent problem with many items uploaded. I have sent the HelpDesk about 3 different items as well.

To my knowledge Pete, yes. If an item is version 1 (never use 0, it stuffs everything up) and you then upload a new version as 2 then both will be on the DLS station. If someone stumbles on version 1 they will be told about the newer version 2 and this is the one that they should download. I think the Download helper actually picks on the newer version anyway. If both versions are in TRS, TRS will always use the latest version.

Anthony, NICE WORK!!!!!!. Congrads ay.

One thing I've noticed is that black triangle on one of the roofs. You see it?

(My solution to fix it - if its wrong tell me please) ((back up your work before!!!))
*Turn the shape that the triangle is in into an "editable mesh"
*In the editable mesh roll out, select "polygon or face" (can't remember)
*Select the triangle and it should turn red, then delete it
*Click the snap button down the bottom and using the line tool, create a new triangle and then click "edit mesh"

Hope that helps, tell me if it doesn't....Or someone could better explain it:p

looks good pete - the fire box looks much better :)

to be totally pedantic tho you should either remove the headlight (and turbo-generator0 or renumber her to 5112 (or do one of each!) - the majority of saturated 50's were never fitted with electric lighting and apart from some very minor cosmetic modifications, were virtually unchanged throughout their lives - there's plenty of pics at at the usual place, and more if you need em

actually I was thinking of the oil lanterns as a replacement

That would be perfect for the 'normal' saturated 50 - its pretty clear in this view of 5069 http://www.pbase.com/stanb/image/91647605 and would probbaly make scripting teh headlight easier

another useful view http://www.pbase.com/stanb/image/91647092 - shunting Pt Waratah

the mesh as it stands however is correct for 5112 in late 60's condtion - she inherited an auto coupler on the front towards the end, but was photographed at Goulburn 1967/68 in pretty much the condition you have it now - married to your existing turret tender would be a quick way of introducing a second version of the model with little extra effort a la http://www.pbase.com/stanb/image/91587662

Being a Bathurst boy would love to have 5112, all better to grow the myth that Ex Aussie Prime Minster, Ben Chifley was once an engine driver.

Records state that good old BC never made it past "Acting" Driver and a dear departed relative made it very clear that he was a very poor fireman at the best of times and as a driver was very much only the Bathurst yard shunter

An L is an English Electric built unit, used mainly on the Melbourne - Traralgon line (as well as the odd suburban goods service).

BTW, you should have 3 new wagons to play with in the next few days (On the DLS...). :)

As for when the L will be released. Depends on if I end up releasing a 'V1' release without interior or not...

Unfortunately, there is nothing remotely similar. I'll probably use the same cab that the Cardiff guys use on their 8x class diesels. This one has a panto switch, and sits in about the right spot. Untill I get a proper L class cab done, thats about all that I know of that is even remotely (not even that really) similar.

I know where this 'error' is. And I can tell you that it is TO picking up the wrong thing. I have named one of the items in the texture-group (in the list in the 'extensions' list for the script) 'interior'. TO has picked this up as the reference line for the 'interior' kuid. This shouldn't (and doesn't on my end) have an effect on TRS04, or 06. :)

Just a little thing with TO that isn't reading a TRS06 change to the way configs are setup :)

So much of the bits that make up the shots, are not out there for all to have! :p
But never mind, it will not be too long when Victorian modellers will not need visit MSTS to run the local scene..
Thank you for the stuff at the DLS, The car wagon which you helped to complete, the T van and the KMQ flatcar for 20 foot containers are really the best I have seen in Trainz.
Working hosebags, texture changes and random numbering systems, are finally showing us why TRAINZ is best. And we are still fooling around with the random weathering system, and working tail disks.
Thanks to all the other creative members of the VicTrainz team too. Working together has been a big boost. Peter (AD60200) has also started to upgrade his Victorian stock, and add a lot of missing pieces. Victorian Modellers in Trainz are going to be in for a treat in 2008.

Now that looks interesting, Patchy.
Cant help wondering how much effort it would take to convert stuff to NG though
So much stuff has been built in SG and since 2004 a lot of that was done in NG too.
If somebody went through the QR assets and counted up the new bogies required, then released all the Auran content with NG bogies would it be such a big job?
This is the only reason I can see that great maps appear but all of them are SG :'(
Charlie Lear already produced two bogies for Alco's, the Asset pack released by Auran in 2006 has most of the mesh's. I really wonder if its not time for QR trainzers to bite the bullet and convert to Queensland's own gauge and stop this SG thing really short.
Cheers

Hey Zec,
I have gone through all my videos, and have not found a useable L Class whistle :o

Might be a good time to ask if anybody has a private copy of the sound, or knows where one could be obtained.
The whistle was very loud and piercing, nothing like any other VR whistle.
No wonder they rarely got cars at crossings, I can attest to hearing the whistle over top of the old motorola car radio in my EH holden going full blast.

Yes, very long wait. I'm not creating it, just converting it to TRS. The original creator is actually creating it for MSTS, this is V3 of the tait that he is making IIRC. However, he has only made 1 M car at this stage.

Nope, Alexander made the Comeng's IIRC. Martin is making the taits.

I'm not going to think about converting the taits for the moment, as there are newer versions of these being made at this stage. Plus I have started a new one (Albeit a LONG way to go with it).

i still have a ways to go with my work, as those that have been following more than likely have worked out is that the majority of the rails are laid from end to end, they get adjusted as new information comes to hand. as can be seen i have been working around corinda taringa indooroopilly milton, and some work around Roma St which i have not shown yet as it may change.
even though the lines well advanced and i can and do still need help so anyone who lives in the Brisbane area i still have a few areas i need some basic puictures of. if anyone can help contact me off list.

No the colours aren't, but you wanted gloss(which tends to lighten colours a bit), also the colour in trs is totally different to what shows up in paintshop so dont worry to much, they are actually quiet darker than they appear in screen shots.

Ah G'Day Pete
I have been trying to get you on Skype. I was really thinking out loud with that post :) However as you are doing an upgrade on the SOP cars, and it is likely to be hanging off the back of Zec's Streamlined S, I would hope the two match colours exactly as in the prototype. Zec is checking stripes with the R Class repaint he did, so you could do the same? As well the carriage roof height / profile match the roof profile on S tender, and S Class (DE) as well.
Lets not forget we are also doing Charlie's upgraded B Class and most probably an upgraded S Class DE.

One of the SOP vans was converted to a maintenance car and painted yellow. It has now been returned to its original condition by Seymour Preservation, So any pictures you see of B74 and S302 during the run of the two anniversary specials to Albury should help with your paints.
