Hi,
Pete the gantry crane looks very similar to one Craig & I need for Finley, & possibly a couple of other locations on our Narrandera_Tocumwal route.
Bill the skate-ramp complex looks great!.
Could you add some fine scuff marks at the top edge, facing down, & maybe fade the blue just a bit, with some sight 'dirt' smudging around the lower one metre or so.
Yeah I know, I'm probably loading on the 'ask' a bit too much.
Just a suggestion. they look excellent Bill.
chuffbuff your QLD homes are great!. Excellent work.

Hi Bill, I love the skate-ramp but agree the Blue is a bit too much. I am too old to even consider going near a skate ring thingo :hehe: so I am not to sure what they have there. The blue though could do with a bit more dirt on it, and maybe some blood marks from the fallen young :hehe: .

Hi Bill,
Your skate park is truly magnificent!
A very realistic look indeed.
Pete a couple of questions:-
Is Weddin based on a real branch line?, & where is that please?
From-to?
Is the shunter TRS2004 compatible & is/will it be available?.
It's perfect for Craig & my Narrandera_Tocumwal route!.
The shunter looks remarkably like the old Ferguson tractor-engined flat wagon shunter in Deniliquin during the 1960's.
Only perhaps more modern.
It used to shuffle around the yard at about 3mph. Took about that far to stop it too (3 miles) :hehe:
As the yard had about five or six lines or more, & three 'open' road crossings,
sometimes it was entertaining to watch unsuspecting non-trains people get the scare of their lives,
all at very slow speed!. Both pedestrians & car drovers.:confused::o
"Well, .... it's ...... 'country', ..... mate."

there are a lot things i would love to see made for trainz and faster than they are, we all would but i and many others also understand that yes people have lives outside the trainz world. and that the lives outside the trainz world are sometimes more important. and i can say this first hand as Ipswich has several times taken a back seat to my real life (yes i do have one) where would you be if these people stopped building items you would not have your coalstages your rollingstock your items of content. so please take a chill pill and cool your jets, all the contnet i have seen made and shown off here is well and truely worth the wait. if you cant wait you can always try makign it yourself .

I can only speak for myself, I spread stuff around a few friends to beta test, once I have had no feedback for a couple of weeks, I will release the item. If we have an event like recently I will ask forum members to take a copy and spread it around the community to whoever wants it. I like others, will have several models on the go at once or just get fed up with rollingstock and do something quick and totally different for release.
I am usually reactive to requests I find interesting, especially for specialty layouts which require content.
What I am not reactive to is someone who comes here without so much as a howdy do, armed with a shopping trolley and shopping list and who starts yapping around my ankles demanding everything else be stopped to attend to them.
As they say in the takeaway chicken shops and without meaning to be rude, take a number and wait your turn. Thats also why we have a contents request process. If you cant be patient enough for that, learn like the rest of us to make something.

Hi Rod
As has been told to you before, the issue that you are experiencing is caused by your video card's drivers. You will need to contact ATI to get this fixed, as we cannot fix it, since it could very easily be broken in a future driver update.
If you do sell your Trainz copy on ebay, please remember to include in the description that the end user will not be able to register it, as serial numbers are non transferable, and that we do not support the 'on-selling' of our products (e.g. selling second hand).
Ron,
Please ensure that your video card drivers are up to date. As other games are having problems, it's likely that something in the computer is causing problems.
When you re-install, please try running a program such as CCleaner to clean out your temp folder as well as your registry. Please also try doing a checkdisc prior to re-installing.

G'Day Zec,
And like I told you before, If you think I am going to go out and spend another $700 on a video card to play a game.. well  No way!
And although 2006 does annoy the hell out of me, I have learned to switch the sound off and play 70's Digital music instead, that, I can live with.
However the point being that Corporations from the biggest (Microsoft) to one of the smallest (Auran) can display the same lack of ethical care for their customers. One with a monopoly of the computer interface Windows, and the other that produces a product and then blames the drivers of the highest selling video card of 2007 for their product not working.
Nope others might cop that, but not me! I also seem to remember that Auran was tied to Nvidia in 2003 with the release of TRS 2004? Perhaps they still are, which may explain why they have not sat down (or told us that they have) with AMD to solve the problem.
I use my machine for lots of things, Trainz is but a small part ;) I have made administration changes, uploaded latest drivers, even non propriety drivers that are supposed to fix AMD's problem drivers. Nothing works.
My laptop is a core 2 Duo 2.0gig with Nvidia Card and 2009 runs on it (XP dual boot) However it runs like a dog, as it cannot take advantage of the full 4.0gig processing power, I believe.
Cheers

I'd say it'd be at the end of the train?? Sunlander and all the QR Traveltrains have the Motorail at the end.

Hello Kane 98. Both of the trains you mentioned were marshalled with the power van against the buffer stops out of Sydney Terminal and then the luggage van, various sitting cars, buffet car, second class sleeping cars, first class sleeping cars and then motorail cars. This was to allow the loading of motor vehicles while passengers were boarding the train carriages and then the motorail cars could be marshalled onto the front of the train after the train locomotives arrived. These trains then maintained this consist to there destination and back without the train being turned so that after it arrived back at Sydney Terminal the shunting engine could couple onto the rear of the train and detach the motorail carriages and unload passengers cars as they disembarked.

I got inspired by something I saw in a route, and thought I'd 'have a go' at making a suitably ill-used industrial branchline spur and yards, so here's some preliminary 'work in progress' shots :)

A few know where its based (no, not on 'real world' place, just something fictional) - it's evolving into a modular route, that may be of use to people. At present, its about four baseboards long, and is being detailed (slowly), but I can easily change the signals/speedboards/etc to suit other 'areas' - at present, its a QR based route.

Hi all,
Down trackside today I was lucky enough to see 8125/8102 leading some Manildra MGFH Flour hoppers. Pacific National had taken over the Manildra operations from ARG and it was believed that the wagons were on their way to the DLS :hehe: following successful trials by their Beta testers (thank-you to all the beta testers involved :) !) , where if approved by Auran will be available for download.

Ghosty Have You Done The Redbank - Bundamba Section Of Brisbane To Ipswich. The Reason Is That From 1880-1979 A Maze Of Sidings, Colleries, Brickworks & Quarries. There Was A Loopline Between Bundamba & Redbank; Today The Bundamba Section Is Used By The QPSR To Swanbank. This Is One Of Two Routes The Hevery Bay Branch & This One I Would Like To Do. Lastly These Two Lines Were 1899 PB15 Dominated & The Hevery Bay Branch Was QR's Premier Holiday Line.

According to the records i have seen regarding the Bundamba loop the section from Box Flat to Redbank closed in 1970, the first so many hundred metres or so of the loop at Redbank were retained for use as a shunting neck which seems was removed in the past year or so.
in regards to its inclusion i have the section to the powerhouse included and a short section out of Redbank but the rest is not there as i would have had to have full details of the line for its inclusion.

Actually Ghosty, I think it may have been removed a little longer than that but I may be incorrect also. I do remember being on a job doing the shunt in Redbank yard one night and finally getting to go down that track a reasonable distance. I had always wondered where it went. That side of the yard hasn't been used for a while. I think there are a few of the roads that have been cut off at the Brisbane end and the others are just housing some old container flats.

Well, Mr Commissioner, if you don't like it, you know what you have to do - yourself...
I, on the other hand, have tried to make things (now I just stick to routes - I have to learn how to upload pics) and as a result of these failures, have an enormous amount of respect for the content creators out there, and am prepared to wait for them to release THEIR cretions in their own good time or respect their decisions not to release things... until now!
Right, here, listen up everyone, I want an ICE set; SMU220 & 260; IMU160; tilt trains (both electric & diesel); EMU in it's latest upgraded state; QRN painted 2800's; 4000 & 4100 classes' 3700 & 3800 classes; 1901 railcar; AC16; DD17; BB18 1/4; Auckland's EMU's as they will apear on opening day - that may not be a certainty yet; and I want them on my desk MONDAY!!!
Woooooow, now I know how it feels. It's not good. I feel embarrassed. I wonder how many I'll get?
Y'see, each and every one of these items take TIME, SKILL, DESIRE and PATIENCE to create. If nobody wants to create these things, I know I have to either learn to create things myself, or go without. I'm sure the content creators can't afford to take a year off work to master a computer game so that someone like me, who they've never met and has never given anything in return, can have another train to drive.
Keep it up Dreddman, you look at it and you know it's a very good model of a BB18 1/4. What more could a moocher like me ask for?
Sorry if I've offended anyone, but postings like that make me mad & sarcastic. You can be enthusiastic without being rude. It's just a lack of respect in my books.

G'day all,
I'm new here, but I am not shy to show my work. If you belong to the Victrainz forums, you may know what is going on, but I'll post here anyway.
When I first found out that there was VR content for Trainz, I thought that it would be included in TS2009, but was disapointed to find out that they weren't included:(
Then I finally started downloading and started a route heavily based on the VGR in central Victoria. Part 2 to Castlemaine is still a work in progress but with Zec releasing VR content for TS2009, I couldn't resist starting something new. Anyway, I want some feedback and ideas for names. Now, enough talk. Here's some shots:) (if they work that is)
1. A very dirty K103, a Y and T depart Waldine, the terminus of the line, on a freight.

2. J555 and a cleaner K103 double head a passenger train over Paul's Farm Trestle bridge

Apologies I Offended Anyone With My Comments On The BB181/4. I'm A Perfectionist & A QR Steam Locomotive Critic. The Truth Is That Dreddman Is A Great Person & A Valuable Trainz Community Member. I Was Giving Some Recomendations. Now I Realise Some Things In Life You Have To Wait For.

Appology accepted........you might be a perfectionest well thats good for you ......
I was nearly going to tell you where to shove it last night and forget about the model for another few years .......
The screens posted last night were the old model wih updated TFX effects I had'nt started any redoing of it at that stage ........
I knew of a few errors I had to fix but any creator who offers up models for free .........dont need someone to jump down their throat.
Remember being nice and polite gets you more
Many hrs later.........its a big job stupid me made 2 BB's a green and a black so now i have 2 models to patch up and because the green has whitewall tyres...that means 8 sets of bogies to sort out.......(all for FREE)
STAGE 2............."Looking more like a BB?"

I can help with the QRN 2800. I have a semi-finished 2800 in both QR bronco and QRN liveries. I haven't finished the proper cab for them, so I have put in a placeholder instead. As for the QR 4000, I'm nowhere near finished work on the body, and it will be a long time before they are finished. I just don't have the motivation to do as much modelling as I used to do.
I'll upload the 2800's to the DLS sometime next week.

Nice Screens everyone! :D
I've had a crack at doing some CityRail station nameboards, (all are renameble). I've done all the different variants so if anyone knows of any other variants please let me know and I'll make them as well.
By the way I'm aware that its not the exact CityRail station name lettering font but unfortunately Trainz content doesn't allow the default font to be changed :( !
They are all designed to be placed on platform lightposts, walls etc.

Does anyone have a copy they could pass on, or a link to a copy of the NSW Signaling Guide (http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=11873&highlight=natvander) (link goes to old thread)? I'm not quite sure how to place (2006 NSW Signals), or which signals to use for Home / Outer Home 5 aspect signals. I used to have a copy of it but i'm not sure where it is now. The links posted in that thread both no longer work.
Also, is there a way to make the NSW VSB's maintain the set speed when not saving as a session?

Evening all here's a few more poor sad QR mistakes I was looking over today....deciding who I might finish next
Now berfore I get drawn n quartered over the technical errors of the models
Understand this ..."If you know me you will know exactly how I work"
These models are years old untouched for ages
And when I decide to make a model once I have a good enough shape at the right dimentions I export it into the game to start testing as I build.
Just ask "Ghostryder" how many exports changes rebuilds there were in the 1700/20 Loco's
Same goes for anything I create
The 1200/25/50's are a nightmare as is the RM2000
Trainz89
???????? I dont know if you are my biggest Fan or Worst Nightmare?
"Firstly Dreddman How Do I Acquire A BB18 Because I Getting Mixed Memos From This Newspaper (Fourm) Can You Please Clarify & i Can't Get Your C17's From QDR To Work?."
WHY cant you get it to work?
Did you get all the files of QDR?
You got "Greg Cash's" C17.......so you have eng spec/eng sound/whistle
Did you get the QR Destonation Boards
The Loco & Bogey CDP's
But I bet you did.nt know what to do or get the C17 interior zip file!!!!!!!
What version of Choo Chooz do you use 04/06/09?
It is a folder zipped up extract to somewhere and import content and commit or in 04 copy it to your world/dispacher/downloads folder if you do that in 04 you will need to install a cdp any cdp so the log will be changed and the Loco will work.
If you cant get it to work what hope do you have of getting a BB working
Now for tonights Legendary spot the errors in these old sorta beta's
I present a yukky look a like AUS STD Garratt........with "Pete's Texture"
A couple of DD17's .."Boobless_Ed" and I played around with a while back
and a Baldwin a "YANK"......AC16.......
So Mr Commish.........things look a little different from where I sit in the Boardroom..................:p

i think dreddy got sick of seeing my name pop up on emails as they generally had list of corrections that were needed for the 1700/1720 class.
your request for route help.
having the maps you need is a good start, but you need to find someone thats able to make you the DEM. any further help i am afraid i cant assist you with right now as i think there are a few QR modelers that would like to see Ipswich completed soon so they can enjoy it as much as i have.
there is a engineers and route builders forum if you need help many great minds can be foudn in there if you have a question or three.

I would also find this incredibly helpful. I often sit there reading the signals from the NSW railways saying things to myself like '3ASP Home (s) LD... What does that mean?' I mean, sure, it is a 3 aspect left diverge signal, but where does it go to work correctly?

The NSW Signal Tutorial tells you how to use the diverge signals. If you have TRS2006 it's in the 2006 folder under docs/manual_cd/extras.

With TrainzDEM out now many DEM routes are created using this. With the previous system though using Hog etc there was a need for the Topographical Maps for the area. I have no idea how to make a DEM file with either system though, so I can not really help there. What I do have though is a whole heap of Topo maps merged together, going from Penrith to Lithgow.
If you find someone to make your route, or you work out how to do it yourself and need these merged Topo maps, then let me know and I will forward them on. I still have the single Topo maps as well, in fact of the entire CityRail network from Waterfall to Maitland and out to Lithgow.

Cranbourne is going to take up pride of place as our best Victorian Layout, if you aren't careful !
Like your work!
But can I add this one thing. We need to build some sparks to run on it.
I believe the Harris train plans have been found, and better Silver plans are now available.
I wish someone was able to finish off these projects now rather than later :(
Our problem, as always is we have too few people able to take on these jobs. It all seems to fall on Zec (with probably 10 years of work stacked up) and Peter C, who really needs to spend time upgrading his 4 wheelers for Victoria, whilst doing all this other great stuff.
We need at least another 10 capable builders and I was thinking it might be time to run some class's to help people along the way.
Perhaps we could run a monthly 3D Studio Max project, on line and meet at Hobsons Bay every three months or something?
Cheers

I've made some Hunter Valley private colliery hoppers with a red and a grey livery as well as randomly assigned colliery identification letters for about 12 -13 different collieries from memory. They work perfectly well in 04, 06 and probably 09. The crunch is, when uploading them I get a very non-descript error to do with unnamed or unidentified textures, which nobody seems to have an answer to. A fair few people have been running them and not complained about them.
I am going to put them up at Victrainz for anyone who wants them, as I am not getting anywhere with the DLS. For those who get them , feel free to pass them on.
You will find the link in the content release forum in about 30 minutes, of course the usual group requirement of registration(free) will apply.

oooh sorry, I wasnt trying to blow my own trumpet, it's just that I didnt think I was good enough to get that many downloads, there are far more capable builders than me here, now I'm embarrassed bearcat
I was always told that the value of something is only what some else is willing to pay for it.
Would not matter how good the item is if nobody downloaded it.
11000 down loads for one item - well you must be doing something right, or your have put the S wagon kuid into every other config file so we have to down load it anyway :hehe: :hehe:

David,
Could I suggest your best bet if you are using 06 would be to download the updated version of "strykers" 04 level crossings which were updated for 06 by "psycho_aussie" a year ago.
Unsure if it was these you are referring to.

having had dealing with greg cash in the past i can say honestly he is a hard man to catch up with, all i can suggest is you keep trying. why would you need the wheel arrangement set at 2-4-2 for the B-18 1/4, it had a 4-6-2 wheel arrangement better known as "Pacifc".
to ensure job security regarding the loco issues the Ghostryder production company stepped in and authorized the production of the PB15 and is expecting the Demo model to arrive for testing and crew training in the next few days at the Mayne Depot.

Dreddy put the revised "1924" type PB-15 together after a chat he and i had through yahell. the model is based on the auran model but has been reworked. it has a four digit number panel allowing variation in numbers. i have a demo model and have so far run it on one test run. if you wish a copy of the demo model you wil have to ask dreddman for one.
all
so far no qr fan has caught on to the twist i placed in the last screen shot.
hopefully one of you will get it.

August 27th, 2009, 07:05 AM
I'm not entirely sure, but I am thinking that the later batch of PB15's had a more complex side-rod construction then the ones featured in your screeny, Ghosty? Mind you, I am usually crap at this kinda stuff, and its a very wild guess. I can't really notice anything else...
lenice
August 27th, 2009, 07:09 AM
I'll take a stab and say that it is something to do with the numbers. The second has only two and not four? I'm with you Mitchey, unless its right in front of me........WHOOOSH.. thru to the keeper.

Hang on, wasn't PB15 1052 Re-Numbered to a 3 digit number?
Mitchey
August 27th, 2009, 07:24 AM
Wait! I just got it! PB15 1052 wasn't a PB15 at all. While the PB15's were constructed by Walkers, Evan, Andersen, Phellan and Co, Toowoomba Foundry and Kitson and Co, the Ipswich Workshops built a PB15 for the Aramac Shire Council in 1924 that had a larger tender and different boiler. This was the 1924 design. This locomotive was later sold to Queensland Rail and renumbered 12.
There Ghosty! Thats gotta be close! :hehe:
Ghostryder
August 27th, 2009, 07:25 AM
Mitchey/Lenice
the answer to the riddle is that 1052 and 12 are one in the same loco. there were 31 1924 version PB-15's made with walkers of maryborough making 30 of them, the other one was made by Ipswich Workshops for the aramac shire tramway. when the aramac tramway went diesel the pb-15 used was offered to qr who bought it and numbered it 1052, before subsequently renumbering it 12. so in a way it had to do with the numbering.

ok all you queenslanders let see how much you know, I have been sent a series of photos of a station building, unfortunately there are no dimensions, I can guestimate as most doors are 7 feet high, what i would like to know is the "normal " size of weatherboard up there do they use 6 inch planks? if you know I can do better than guesstimating what is the normal size of wooden windows on old stations? I would really like to do this building as it is very attractive.

I got the shock of my life the other day, I was ferreting around in "my content" folder on planet auran and it says that the little S wagon I did had been downloaded over 11000 times, i didnt think it was that good
I had a moment like that, I think my pool umbrella (of all objects!!) has like 300k downloads!! must be in a lot of routes :)

ok QR folks
longreach station building, does 120 feet long x 25feet wide and probably 15 feet tall to the top of the wall sound right? thats measuring on google earth and counting the weatherboards in photos working on 6 inch weatherboards and we can add about 4 foot piers to that as well.
Any opinions please
cheers
pete
