well, David, I dunno, but in Queensland, we would generally call that an unfinished paint job, but after the efforts we have seen in State of Origin, perhaps thats the best they can do in NSW :hehe:

My loco roster is as follows:
3829
4410
3670
4717

Hopefully I will be able to make a half decent route this time!

Good News Everyone!

For those interested, my Queensland route has now reached an impressive 44 boards! And it is still not finished.

I still have great plans for this route, such as finishing the two branchlines already included (there probably will be more) and creating a few more areas inspired by the diverse scenery of the large state. Mt Belsby is almost finished and features a carriage yard, loco fuel terminal, sidings, sheds, heritage train facilities such as coal and water towers, and a coach washing shed all in a compact yard. The new section of line (which has climbed on the straight for about 8 kilometres allowing for 120km/h running) will decend the mountain range in a less-than-straight way unlike the 120km/h side, to provide variety and keep the route interesting.

Ground textures are still mostly unfinished, but a lot of scenery items have been placed. The main idea for this route is to keep it as realistic as possible, without overloading the computer, and without the route becoming undetailed and boring.

Thanks for your feedback!
Screenshots will come later...

Cheers!

Thanks for using my X in your screenies, ex railwayman.

While the X was used occasionally for hauling passenger trains when the normally rostered locos were not available, its primary use was as a mainline goods engine.
A minor point: the numbers ranged from 27 to 55, though 36 is not a suitable number as that loco never was fitted with a booster.

Hi Pete,

Craig (Seeseeme) & I have just completed an inspection of the route we're building .
It's the old Narrandera_Tocumwal branch line in NSW.
Some of the outlying locations have the line raised on a bed above the surrounding flatlands.
This shed is pretty much perfect for a couple of locations.
However, because of the elevated rail, the siding platform has a slope on the non-rail side, which is fairly high.
From memory I'd say in the order of maybe up to 3 metres.
The original shed was flush with the surface of the platform, & half protruded off the rear of the platform; supported on brick piers.

Are those piers on your model 3 metres or more in depth? (please) :)

It does look really good.

Today was a good day at the ZR workshops, with a number of items being sent off to the Download Station. Of course, this meant a transfer train. Thankfully, one of the items was actually a loco...

Thankfully I was able to grab photos of the transfer train, which was made up of K103, 4 ICI/VR liquid chlorine wagons, 4 OT wagons (3000gal, two in BP and two in plain black), and a Z van. The K, the liquid chlorine tanks, and the OT wagons being the items actually sent off.

Anyhow, heres the pics.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-01t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-01.jpg)
K103 sits with the train at the ZR workshops platform prior to departure.

Having traversed the short section of dual gauge track on the ZR branchline, K103 grinds to a halt at Devon Junction platform.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-03t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-03.jpg)
Now on the main line, K103 blasts across the Merebin River bridge.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-04t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-04.jpg)
Having blasted through Merebin station, K103 crawles across the Merebin River bridge due to a speed restriction.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-05t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-05.jpg)
Due to a problem with the K class (possible hot box on the tender), and a large amount of track to be coming through soon, K103 was put into the yard at Dhura Oon.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-06t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/zr-content-delivery-18-07-2009-06.jpg)
Another shot of K103 and train at Dhura Oon, this time from the ballast pile. Unfortunately, I had to leave the train here, and have not heard of what progress the train made beyond this point.

Hello Mitchey, it's on the DLS called 3m_05 on kuid:67865:38041.

Bill.

Hi Bill, yeah, sorry, I must make a mental note to do some research before taking screenshots in future, I didn't realise its primary function was a freight loco and not a passenger one, and I put the number 65, 'cos that's my house number and the first thing that I thought of at the time when numbering the loco.....:hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:

Cheerz. ex. :o

Hi Noel,
Those particular piers are 3 foot 6 inches which was standard platform height. the platforms did slope away, unfortunately the profile I had of the platform with shed was a slope then flat ground.

The A2 has a loading platform on the back of it so it doesnt seem logical that there would be a huge drop of behind it or vehicles would not be able to access it.

Can you send an email with precise details and perhaps we can make a set of peir extensions on which you place the shed and piers, either that or adjust the peirs on the A1, probably easier, that it could be pushed down to platform level.

...you realise, Bill, that Andi06's famous "Superscript" will overcome this issue - and it isn't all that difficult to administer...

Remember, opacity is the opposite to transparency.

So having the opacity set to 10% is effectively the same as making it 90% transparent. The higher the opacity setting, the less transparent it will become :)

Hey S301, will the chlorine car be available soon? And I heard about a "certain" locomotive that is electric. Is it the E Class boxcab and steeple cab? I can find you a cab view for it. Will it be black or Blue & Gold? http://www.victorianrailways.net/motive%20power/e/e.html that link shows you variations and the cab. Please tell me that you are making the E Class?

Well, the point for that post was to 'announce' that the items shown had been uploaded to the DLS ;) So yes, when the DLS is approved the next time, they will end up on the DLS. Not sure about the K at the moment, as I'm having trouble with it at the moment...

For the spark, no, not got an E in production at the moment. I plan to make it one day, but not in the immediate future. As for a cab, this would likely be a custom build for the 1100/E class locos, as the locos themselves used parts from other vehicles...

G'day AD602000,

They're great stations, Pete, even for NSWGR ones...

...excuse my ignorance but I would have thought the A3 veranda would require a support bracket at the end furthest from the camera (where it appears to be missing), as it has at the nearest end (lest that end should sag)...

Is it the x'trap? Or the L class?

S301
July 20th, 2009, 01:54 AM
Actually, the current sparks that I've got 'in production' (but am not currently working on) are the L class, X'Trap, a Tait, and a Comeng. The closest to release is probably the L or the X'Trap, the other two are only really just basic shapes at the moment and really aren't likely to be released for a while.

Today saw a pair of T class locos hauling a long, for the ZR branch, coal train. The train was made up of ELX wagons, with some four wheel stock at the rear for various other stations along the branch.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0000t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0000.jpg)
A very dirty T384 and another T class sit at Devon Junction with the coal train, whilst awaiting departure.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0001t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0001.jpg)
Now on the branchline, the train is seen heading towards Sometown.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0002t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0002.jpg)
Viewed from outside the Sometown pub (Known as Somepub), the two T's grind to a halt at Sometown station.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0003t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0003.jpg)
Having picked up the staff for the next section, as well as having dropped off some mail, the driver carefully controls the train down the 5MPH cutting under Someroad and towards Someforrest.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0004t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0004.jpg)
Still traveling at 5MPH, the train rolls across Somecreek as it enters Someforrest.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0005t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0005.jpg)
With the two T's roaring in 8th notch, the train breaks the peace of Someforrest.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0006t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0006.jpg)
Now really going for it, the two T's belt past the first of the rail motor stopping places along the branch line.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0007t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0007.jpg)
Now traveling along at track speed, the two T's rumble across the Some River bridge.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0008t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0008.jpg)
Seen at the access to one of the many farms, T384 passes through a small group of trees.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0009t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/temp/S301_20090719_0009.jpg)
Just a short distance on, the train is seen coasting along at track speed through sheep and cattle country.

TBC!

I'm creating the V Set in partnership with Daniel and as a form of encouragement for him to continue with his amazing Short North/Lower Hunter route/s....same thing with the catenary.
I made the catenary and some level crossings available as a sort of public beta because people were keen to have a look at them.
I have removed them from the download link.
I won't be posting anymore public beta's in the future as I have created problems for myself with people uploading routes to the DLS that use these public beta's and Auran requesting that I upload the missing content.

So, a word of warning ....... don't use the catenary or the level crossings in routes that you are going to upload to the DLS. I don't want to be hammered by poeple wanting to locate this "missing" content and I'm nowhere near ready to release any of it to the DLS.

I'm sorry if I've created hassles for anyone.

No problem doing them the hard part is getting good pictures to use,
straight on shots of the front, side and rear are the best and a reasonable size over approx 400x400 pixels.

If you can help with that it would be helpfull. ;)

I wonder how it would turn out if a prototypical route included future expansions of the rail network in nearby areas (see indicator board - Bringelly - SWRL). The difference here would be 1 track more in the view and 7 tracks to the south of the station instead of 3.

Just a little criticism to help you.
Your signal box frame must line up with your track. Otherwise you would have a heap of right angle cranks out there in the paddocks redirecting all the rodding to the track :D Ah?? talking about your track.. um? their don't appear to be any points that would require a signal box anyways??
Oh I get it. A Rail enthusiast has bought a redundant signal box from the Railways and it is on the back of a semi being transported away from the Railway! :hehe:

I only saw the end bit of this on TV last night, but they spoke of a type of "Pay" Train that NSW Railways would send around rural NSW with employees pays. In what I saw some people have restored one, they may have been TAFE students. These "Carriages/Traincar/whatever" looked like only one carriage with a driver and some were for the "Paymaster" and others to sit as they traveled around paying employees. The "Carriage" was taken out of service once pays where deposited into bank accounts.

They also said that these Carriages had been held up as well over the many years they where used, one was even blown up

Anyone know about this .... or what I am trying to talk about :hehe: . It looked like a really neat little carriage that could fit into many Aussie Layouts.

That's a very old model ;) Its a repainted BL by Uncle Rob from Auran. I am surprised that it is not released on the DLS by Alex23 in 2004? Anyway I will do a search and if they are not on DLS and if I am allowed, I will put them up at VicTrainz Forums.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Screenshots_2008/Sig_02.jpg

The above picture depicts a well known signalman who manned the West Tower in the late 90's and beyond 2000. This bloke was a pain for all drivers, and he obviously believed train drivers were redundant, because he kept telling us that Signalmen run trains!
Well here he is, bringing a very late running Indian Pacific into Melbourne, and to accommodate his supersized ego, Two G Class on the SCT train are put aside.
I guess he pulls signals off, amongst other things, to make it go, and throws them back to make it stop?? :hehe:
Cheers

Ah, I think I know what you're referring to.

It's called a Paybus, which looked like an odd little red and yellow mini-bus on train wheels.

I'm not sure if anyone has made one for Trainz, but it would indeed make an interesting piece on a Aussie-themed route. :)

Thanks Enkidoh and you are right, I found that out last night from my neighbor who had also seen it on TV. He remember something similar when he worked on the South Australian Railways in the middle of nowhere. They would order what they needed, food etc, and then the similar Rail Pay Bus would turn up with their food and pay after deducting the cost of their purchases.

I did also get a PM about it as well with some more detail.

I will still keep looking for one. I did a search under a different name and I did find something looking similar in other countries but not used for the same purpose.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0001t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0001.jpg)
Despite the 40MPH speed limit on the train, the A2 looks great thundering towards the flood plains around Dalmore...

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0002t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0002.jpg)
Seen roaring across a private access road, the A2 appears to be making light work of it's train along the flat lines across the flood plains.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0003t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0003.jpg)
A little further south across the flood plains.

Since the train does not stop at most stations, we get to see the A2 roar across the twin bridges and level crossing into Dalmore stations.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0005t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0005.jpg)
Another view of the train at Dalmore, with an M van and an L van sitting in the cattle siding.

Now really entering flood plain country, the A2 pounds it's way across the Cardinia Creek trestle bridge.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0007t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0007.jpg)
Only a short distance further on, the A2 blasts it's way across yet another level crossing, with the van still on the Cardinia Creek trestle bridge.

http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0008t.jpg (http://zecrail.victrainz.com.au/strzelecki/S301_20090722_0008.jpg)
In our parting shot, A2 953 blasts past the whistle board for the level crossing in the last shot.

Dont worry about what numbers they come in,they have random auto script so you can choose your numbers and what type of tender you want, eg 3801 has a welded tender so borrow the non streamlined 38 tender and number it as 3801.

Been quiet recently, content to just watch what's been going on of late

What amazes me is some of the work Pete has done of late. I don't mean this to come off as a negative thing*, but Pete has advanced his content in massive leaps and bounds from the early days. He's always had a keen eye for details, and for producing things that are needed, but people don't know they were missing until he's made it. The fettlers shed, for example, is a perfect example of something I didn't know was missing. Yes, I've photographed c couple of them lying in various stages of disuse between Queanbeyan and Cooma, but it wasn't something I consciously thought "I'm missing something in my route"

Pete mate, please keep up the good work. Like all the content creators here, you're a true asset to the community, even though most of your audience is quiet and greedy (look at me, I don't say anything, just silently downloading and enjoying without sharing screenshots - that's only because their quality is rather... subpar).

What impresses me the most about the Trainz community, especially the Australian members, is that everyone seems to work so well together, and we have some very talented people working on content. It is not inconcievable that one day every major asset required will be avaliable in some stage. Just now I was redownloading the NSWGR Sheet Steel Wagon from the DLS in the interest of adding it to a steel train. Obscure wagons like this that some have not even seen or heard of before (some friends of mine got excited to see one on -NY3 a couple of weeks back, they'd never seen one before...), are avaliable for download, and in rather fine condition.

Anyway, I'll step back into the shadows now.

*Ie I don't want other creators thinking "oh what, so that doesn't apply to me?

Mitchey

Deadly, if you really are a true CityRail traveller, then you know that your model is way too nice and orderly to be a true CityRail destination board - it has to be painted over and damaged, with out of date stations and options on it. :p
