earlier today i went out to take some screenies.
saw a C30 (thanks ad602000 :D) pulling some CCH hoppers,
while on a different line, a triple header consisting of 3237,5917(5909 in this case) and 3830 for a special tour.

Excellent idea - although, volunteer for the diesel ones too, simply because they can often be quieter and have less dramas. No use being on your first run as an attendant when something breaks and you've got passengers asking questions you can't answer! Get in touch with them, a couple of my mates volunteer with them and love it.

No... i'm only a teenager haha....They had an exclusive tour of the Eveleigh Workshops, we saw all the 3 loco's getting prep. for steamfest, then we got to sit in the cab of 3830 and fire it up and also sat in 3265, which they are re-building and talked about the engines, how things are constructed, how things operate and sadly about how they are being 'kicked out' of the workshops. It was an amzing day, a real shame they have to go..
I'll put some photos up of the workshops for you to see...

3801 Ltd. hold regular working bee's in the LES so I suggest you give them a call on: 1300 65 3801to find out more info.
To become a firemen your best bet would be to go through NSWRTM, they run steam trips fairly often but you will need to work your way through the ranks to become a fireman.
I volunteer on a regular basis at the Zig Zag Railway and personally favour the opportunities presented here, I found it alot easier to "fit in" at Zig Zag mainly because they operate every dayof the year except Christmas, so you can do work there virtually any time, as opposed to the particular working bee's and runnings days which are a feature of most other groups.
To volunteer at Zig Zag the first thing you have to do is a Safe-Working course, this is a two day course (1st day theory + test, 2nd day walking along the rail line and using the skills you learnt first hand). After that the rest is up to you, to do any Operations work you must first become a guard, after that you can progress onto any one of many jobs
Steam Guard, Railmotor Guide, Firemen, Railmotor Driver, Signaller (Train Controller), Diesel Driver, Diesel Firemen, HyRail Driver, Mine Driver, Track Machine Driver, Fettler, Steam Driver.
I've been with the railway for nearly 4 years now and within that 4 years I have become a Trainee Guard and Trainee Fettler, but have also helped clean loco's, clean carriages, light up loco's, shunt, signal trains at all stations, both with signal boxes and flags, couple/un-couple, track maintanence (inc. repairing point inter-locking), cleaning points, repair steam locomotives, make parts, paint carriages and locomotives, repair shovels, fire locomotives, shovel forward coal, do track inspections and night patrols on section cars.
Its all comes down to though how often your at the society of your choice and your attitude towards it, the more you put in, the more you will get out, if your helpful and have a good attitude to it all, people will reward you back by letting you experience the higher up roles and under-take more responsibility in shunting etc..., and just so you guys know, I'm only 16, so that goes to show you don't need to be to old to get right in on the action:p:hehe:

I wonder how many people know of the Cargill liveried 48 class. Classed as CAR 1, it's painted in a predominantly yellow livery with a black V on the front and rear.
http://locopage.railpage.org.au/photos/Cargill_CAR1.jpg
http://locopage.railpage.org.au/photos/CAR1_2.jpg
Unfortunately, due to the way the loco is, you can't mirror the numbers so they are same front and rear. Bear in mind that if you drive this loco long hood leading, the numbers are mirrored. I can't do anything about that I'm afraid. Here is my representation of CAR 1....

Hi Col,
I was just having a look at this thread and noticed your RGB request.
The NR class loco I have is by davido, when in Pacific Blue livery it varies a bit because of shading but generally it is R59, G105, B160. That might give you a start and you can fiddle it if you have to. Unless you want Pacific Blue's official colours.
Cheers,

An easier way is to open the textures for his PN locos, and grab the RGB from there. It would certainly be the best way of doing it, as it will then match most other PN locos (namely his) :)

For some reason, I always thought that was breach of copyright. To use the eye dropper tool on someone else's work. As funny as that sounds, I'm sure I've heard people say that. Don't give me dirty looks though.:hehe:

I have a friend at work I've found out has Trainz 06 and he is great with computers and he was asking me about modelling ( I have been on the forums and such longer than he; he's only recently registered his copy so is just getting into the "wider" Trainz experience ) and I'd love to see what he could turn out.

Where else would I take him Dredd? I actually said that to him the other night when we were talking. After that conversation I am MORE convinced than EVER he needs to get to one of our meets. He would be such an asset to the group. Pretty sure he already has a few ideas on what he wants to model. With the great group that we have I know he would be warmly welcomed. Hi folks, got a few reskins to show off. I've always been one to do fictional repaints, just to see how they'd look. I find it an interesting excersize, dare to be different.
I've done a PN BL class to the best of my ability. I'm unable to extend the yellow over the cab and roof due to the way the BLs are mapped. I'd like to thank Rob Shaw for allowing me to upload these to the DLS.

Nice shot. I like the composition of the train silhouetted against the morning sky. Although, that artistic critical interlued aside, I have to ask the obvious question: Where did you aquire those twin/tri-axel coaches? Seriously, I've been searching high and low for carriages like those for years. I must have them!

Well how about taking them down.
Have you ever tried building something in Gmax?...spent hours that run into months researching, building a model and developing textures?...No I doubt it, otherwise you wouldn't be so keen to go slap paint over someone else's model.
Some one sees that and associates it with Cardiff Workshops and before you know it our name is mud.
Keep them for yourself and your friends offline but please don't show reskinned Cardiff Workshops stuff on public forums.
Thanks

Sorry i thought i did take them down but obviously it did not work...
Maybe get your facts straight about the modeling because i have attempted to create my own models... I just dont have much time to continue with it.
Really its just ridiculous how people get so picky about content....
Its no different to puting photos on the net because you share them to the outside world, even if someone does try and upload it to there website with there name on it. If you put it up on the net then its out of your control once you put it on....
Though people might be interested in different liverys but who cares ill just keep them to myself.

Drop it. Drop it now. You really don't want to try arguing this one. A search of the forums shows that it always ends the same. If an author doesn't want reskins made (or more shown publicly) then that is that. And it is their artwork, so if you show a modified version without permission, then you have broken the copyright... If you really want to push it, you might just be saying goodbye to all content on the DLS that may break some copyright... This happened to the Australian MSTS community. Every asset that may have been breaching a copyright was pulled, and only re-uploaded when copyright permission was aquired were those assets uploaded.
So please, do us all a favor and accept that some authors do not like people to have reskins of their assets shown publicly/uploaded.

just a note on reskinning if you do reskin other's content take a screenshot then send it to the auther first asking Permission if they say yes then show the screen shot if not you havent lost any thing but time in takeing the screen shot.
And yes a lot of people reskin other content but they ask first or dont show it as they have read the copyright.
This is not an attack on your skills or against you i think it looks great but its polite to ask first :D

See, I think the attitude is what lets you down here.
It's an honest mistake made by someone new to the community, and when corrected (like it was back when thebigman pointed it out), it's easy to say "sorry", and everything can be forgiven.
However, your childish temper tantrum has done little to win you any support at all - if anything, you've alienated yourself and your cause very quickly.
I think the prudent thing to do here would be apologise and walk away for a bit, but you should feel free to dig your hole deeper if you should want to.

Hi Ausrail,

But he is doing well. I had too show him about texturing etc, but he is flying along. I will admit, I help him with laying some of the track bits and pieces and some advice on placement. BUt pretty much he has done atleast 80% of the work. Gota buy him a copy as I trying too do my route and now he is addicted as well. heh!

Having navigated the short section of dual gauge track, the two T's come off the branchline into Devon Junction.
From here on they will be running on the main line to Dhura Oon, where they will sort some of the wagons for pick up by a late night goods, and then stable for the night. This is due to the train containing 4 wheel wagons and a 6 wheel guards van, limiting the train to 65KM/H.

As for losing wheels. This normally happens after minimising the game, or causing a steam loco to do something 'strange'. Probably other causes as well.

Hi folks
Done some PN 930s, three different numbers 932, 938 and 939. Totally fictional of course, but that makes it more interesting in my view.

I had to change the position of the numbers on the left hand side, the detailing at the rear cuts it out so I had to move them to the front. Anyhow, here are some more pics of the loco and a bit of the route I'm doing.

hi folks
Done my best to replicate ARG's 53, or Ex 553. The loco is now in the hands of Bluebird Railway and can be seen in this month's issue of Motive Power on page 7, Bluebird is a subsidiary of CFCLA.
The loco previously wore yellow and red livery, but due to how this loco is mapped, it's quite impossible to make the red frames as the same map also raps around the fuel tanks and handrails. To accomodate for that, I've made it very oily and grubby to compensate for the lack of red on the loco. There is a very faint red on the plows, but that's about it.
Anyhow, the real loco is this one.....

Thanks Alyx, I like grubby locos.:)
Anyhow, I've done a 2100 in SCT livery.:p QR 2114 D was real loco in service, I believe it was one of the units sent to Chile. From memory I think 10 2100s were sent to metre gauge in that country.
2114 D never was painted in QR Bronco corporate scheme, retained its blue livery until it was painted in primer before its departure to Chile. It now dawns the FCAB livery of blue, yellow and orange although I couldn't tell you what road number it received.
I guess the livery on T 414 may suit the Clyde/GM of Queensland, another reason I called it 2114 D, to sort of "associate" it with the Victorian loco.
I have no pictures of the rear of T 414 so I looked at an SCT class and made it more like that. Completely fictional so if something is not 100% proto then we can't complain really. :)
Here is 2114 D...

Hi folks
In 2002, QR reguaged 6 1502 class for standard gauge operations with Interail in NSW. The bogeys from 49 class were used under the ex QR locos.
The livey of Interail was retained from the Northern Rivers Railroad (NRR) for the "I think" first 4 units, the latter two receiving the QRN "Eagle" livery.
I'm going to put a fictional spin on this.:hehe:
Beginning of 2003, 3 2100 class were regauged for use by Interail. EDI Downer, Maryborough in QLD had some spare standard gauge bogeys suitable for the 90 tonne QR locos.
In following the class sequence employed by Interail, the 2100s became the 424 class. Class leader, 42401 is seen here after emerging from Razorback loco sheds.....

Hi folks
I've had a nother try at a QRNational "Eagle" 2100. The most difficult part to get right is the "beak" over the cab, it's not perfect but it'll do for now.
The other problem with the Paintshed 2100 is the mapping. Now I've got a bit of a conundrum and not sure which way to go with this. When texturing the frames, you can colour the metal parts on the sides of the walkways. The problem being is that when you texture the left walkways, you also texture the right walkways. Because of this, it makes it impossible to make a 100% accurate QRN livery.
This does create a problem when doing the QRN livery. I can do it two ways, either in the pics I'm about to show, or just leave the frames colourless and have them grey all around. I'm sort of starting to think the latter option maybe better, but I will experiment with that.
Anyhow, this is my second attempt at the QRN Eagle 2100 class.....

I'll add two more shots when I have the second option done. I may ask for opinions then, a bit of a vote I guess. Voting Colhad for prime minister is the third option.:p

Gee Col
They look terrific!
Wondering though what the SCT Fan logo means?
In the early days they may have called them "SCT van" but now a days they use a larger "Rail" or "Logistics on their road trailers"http://www.sctlogistics.com.au/Graphics/Interface/Home30.jpg

Hi Rod
I got FAN from a photo that I couldn't decipher properly. I thought it looked like the lettering once formed the word "FAN" and had weathered away a bit.
The photo I was looking at is this one....
http://australind720.fotopic.net/p44863878.html
Posting that picture clears things up for me, thanks very much Rod. I shall edit that to make it "RAIL"
I do a lot of Googling for pics, alwas looking for Aussie fotopic accounts as I have a few bookmarked. Can never have enough resources.
http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/8177/sctvan03.jpg (http://img37.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sctvan03.jpg)
I realise that the red extends below that red line at the bottom, I'm not sure the mapping will allow for that though.

Have done a few searches but nobody takes pictures of carriages these days ;) However when National Rail told all their customers that they were going "All container" and started scrapping vans, SCT was born. They started out using the Federal Government to force National Rail to hand over the AN vans (rather than scrap them) and were extremely proud of their achievement making money out of something NR said was impossible.
I suggest without photographic evidense that it was VAN.
I would think the LARGE Rail came later on the new modern vans they built?
Cheers

Hi everyone,
After a week of walking around the old stations and yards on the Narrandera to Tocumwal line with Noel (nbrettoner) we/I am back :hehe: . It was a great weeks trip and very interesting, we also looked around the old McIntyre Airfield site at Tocumwal which was just as interesting for us. Both of us took heaps of photos with many of the same things/areas but from different angles. I took 380 photos so Noel would have taken about the same. Each night we would set there with a laptop and name them properly so we would not forget what they are of.
I am very impressed with some of the screenshots here and the great work from Colhad. The only thing I notice with your creations Colhad is that some are showing as 2004 versions but they use 2009 built in content (not sure about 2006 etc).

Craig, I think what it is, I've used the horn sounds from Davido's 48 class on TRS2006. People who use TRS2004, all they have to do is change the horn Kuid in the config file. That's the only dependancy I have used in them, pretty much every 930, 830 class will either use Davido's or Jacob Cash's horn sounds. The latter asset is on the DLS.

Mulie, I'd love to lock you in a room with a PC, TRS2009 installed. I'd leave you in that room and force you to make that route. You'd not be allowed out until you have completed it.:p :hehe:
The only person who thinks he is incapable is Mulie, but Mulie DOES have the capability and CAN make a route. The only problem I think you have Mulie, is you try to do too much too quickly. Start with one baseboard, lay your track, terrain and scenery, then add another baseboard and do the same. Don't start with too many boards as I think that probably puts you off.
I'd like to see you make a 20 board route, A to B style. Don't say you can't cos I won't listen. Get cracking!!!;)

At the moment, it uses the BR Class 24 engine sounds by Wulf_9. I'm un-aware of how the 47 classes sound as I've not heard one with my own ears. I can't say when the last time a 47 class came to Acacia Ridge in Brisbane.
For now Wulf's sounds will do but if anyone knows of a soundfile that is available close enough to what a 47 sounds like, please let me know. They use a Caterpillar 16-D399TA prime mover, the British Class 24 has a power rating fairly similar, a smidgen more for the Class 24.

hi Nicola. I believe they are the NODY wagons by ad602000. Although they were uploaded under the Victrainz kuid I believe which is 1854:, so if you type that into the search engine on the DLS, you may have some luck.
Here are some more pics, LVR 4717, there will be two versions. I will be doing the one without the black lines as well.

Hey Col
What about the 49 Class. The AD602000 version needs a whole heap of those cool textures. You are doing something different these days. They look very good.

I hate to quote images but I just had to for these 3 hehe. First one not really sure but am thinking joins up to one of the collieries. Second one could be Adamstown (my Cousin lives there, stayed with him in January and went train spotting between Maitland and Broadmedows for a couple of days), with the points heading off towards Broadmedows yard and finally the last one is somewhere between Broadmedows and Newcastle I think...
Then again I could be totally wrong! :p
Excellent stuff Daniel, maybe we can see it on your hard drives one day? :p One of my favourite places to see trains really, lots of action...

I hope you all enjoy my fictional essay about what might have happened if nuclear bombs were actually used in 1967 in the Middle East. At the time I was listening to the armed forces radio on a new fangled device called a Panasonic transistor radio in Vietnam when war broke out along the Suez Canal. I was a Field Engineer with First Field Sqn Royal Australian Engineers and we were quickly loaded onto a helicopter near Horseshoe and sent back to Nui Dat. We thought we were going to Saigon and onto the Middle East because the sappers were needed to clear minefields and disarm booby traps. However it never happened and the war was declared over in 7 days I think.... So here is what might have happened if the bomb had been dropped again!

At Wallangatta in Prettoria's beautiful North East. the signalman is anxiously checking his watch waiting for the up goods which is 5' late for a crew change.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_029.jpg
The Aldonga crew change over with the afternoon down pass.
The Whittgarden branch is 30 inch gauge and a working museum. The Community of Whittgarden have taken responsibility for the little railway. It links Wallangatta with their community and via transfer at Walallangatta to Southern Cross to the South.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_036.jpg
As J 527 draws up beside the A2 the crews quickly change over and the guard gives right of way
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_031.jpg
The double headed NG mixed blows out and departs for Whittgarden. The local community are behind the little railway 100%. Since the oil crisis they promised, actually came, they avoid road transport where ever possible to overcome the severe financial imposts transport to small communities has caused. It is normal for as many as 6 loaded wagons a day being transferred from the broad, six days a week. Wallangatta is no longer the depot for this little train. New workshops and facilities are built at the end of the line. As well as freight the little train brings 50 high school kids into Wallangatta each school day. On Fridays and Mondays an additional train runs on the branch to bring the Uni kids from Aldonga and Southern Cross to and from Uni.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_027.jpg
Wallangatta is being fitted out with a new yard allowing fork lift transfer across a loading platform. As well stock gates are to be incorporated at one end of the dock to allow easy transfer of sheep and cattle between gauges.
A new fuel facility is awaiting tender finalisation. 3 BG tank cars, twice a week will transfer into 7 NG tank cars directly, although small storage tanks will take care of any excess loading. This is an interesting venture, as 4 nearby local town have now requested use of the fuel siding. Bio-diesel will come south from Happywatha and ethanol and LPG will come up from Jaylong.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_032.jpg
From the footbridge these magnificent engines are a real sight! We were so lucky that we had 100+ locomotives left in storage when the middle east oil fields became unusable. It might be 50 years before the US works out how to undo the damage caused by the 7 day war of 1967.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_035.jpg
Good!! The crossing is clear as the J blows out and heads south. The new flashing lights on the crossing have finally made the gate wheel redundant. However a big lesson was learned when steam was returned to service. Never scrap something you may one day need. Even the gates were stored
Now the signalman is really starting to get edgy.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_028.jpg
Aldonga has just let the Interstate XPT out, and he needs to get the goods train inside signals so the XPT can get the outer departure signal, about 5 minutes left...
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_030.jpg
What a wonderful site!! And to think that the North East was the one that decided to revert, and that it was so successful.
http://pics.victrainz.com.au/Comtrains_Image_Collection/Screenshots/Screen_037.jpg
My fuel card will be increased next month and I will take the motor bike North and check out all the work that has been done revitalising the NE rail link.
Cheers till next time

Tom, good guesses and your close to the places although Scott got all of them.
The first one is coming off the Newcastle branch heading south through Woodville junction (a Y) and joing with the beginning of the short north, next stop - Broadmeadow.
The second shot is of Hamilton from the Sydney end.
The last shot is between Hamilton and Whickham on the Newcastle branch.
Thanks for guessing, I didn't think anyone would haha. :hehe:

IMPORTANT: This is the 1460 class by David Dallaston (Pikkabird), all credit must go to David for creating the 1460 class. Thankyou to David for allowing me to reskin this 1460 class.
1460 class in earlier QR blue livery. This is the one they were in at the time of their production. I will also do this to the elephant ears 1460s.
I need a bit of help though from people who know a bit about QR. I have a couple of photos but both are inconclusive. I can't tell what the livery is doing when it curves up towards the roof on the long hood. I will try to correct the colours if they need to be as well.
As far as I can tell, this reskin is error free according to TRS2006 CMP.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e299/Colhad/TRS2006%20Screenies/Repaints/1464.jpg
Really after photos of QR 1460s as they were at that time. I'm also looking at a 1700 class as I think the liveries are quite similar. I need to be sure though.:)
Thanks folks.

Agree with Chuff Col. That looks about right for the fade. I think most of it was due to us cleaners on the ramp and the products that were used to clean them. You soon knew if you hadn't washed it off right as there would be a big white patch down the side where the soap/acid had dried. We then had to go down with a bucket of water and a clean broom and scrub it off. Just needs a little more something though but I'm not sure what it is. Possibly a rusty spot or two or something like that. Maybe this one just came out of the yard after we washed it? That's why it looks so clean.:hehe:
