hi ghostryder, i saw in your screenies you have a QR 1402 or 1502, i have downloaded them from PikkaBirds website, (donationware) they show up in CMP and Trainz 2006, but they are invisible. i dont know if i should ask this in here , but i thought since you have them you might know, i also have all the dependencies.

I have constructed a Holden VH Commodore wagon, after doing a bit of Google searching, I came to the conclusion that it is indeed a VH model. I do believe the front grill tells me its a VH model.

The VH Commodores were constructed from 1981 to 1984.

One suggestion. Try making the entire wheel out of a 'line', then use the lathe tool .That way you get the correct profile for the wheel, and low polys (I would suggest about 3 segments for the dish, thats what I used on my disc wheel IIRC). :)

Still, very nice! Great to see more bogies being made :)

Muliebuck

Certainly not, I don't say stop making them, as there are countless people out there who do like 3'6" stuff (even more who like even narrower gauge), I've just become so accustomed to using the 'out of the box' standard, its hard for this semi-old dog to get used to new tricks. So, please don't misconstrue, I love your work, and that of others, but 3'6" doesn't 'do it' for me, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a lot of hard work and effort that goes into it :)

Mulie, your screenies just keep getting better, as do your layouts. Pity they aren't 3ft6 :hehe:

Joking. Keep up the good work mate.

I'm still working on rebuilding Geoff's crossings, with a new road base. The pedestrian gates, road barriers and lights are all Geoff's work, so I will need his approval before I can release them. I'm doing them up in both standard gauge and 3ft6, so the QLD "purists" can be happy.

I haven't touched the 2800 or 4000 in quite a few months now. The major thing missing from the 2800 at the moment is the cab, something that I'm struggling with. I'm intending to try a few new tricks with the model and texture to make the 2800 look a bit better, and then I will attempt the TS2009 graphic stuff and see how that turns out. So I'm still here, unfortunately...

G'day Chris, just remember - like poor Bruce, you're here FOREVER *bwhahahhacoughchokegasp* No, seriously, love your work, and Bruce's, and everyone else's, and thank you for the commentary on my route - its 'virtually' finished, and will be released as a 'modular' route, for others to do with it as they please, I'll release a NSW version and a QR version (both in 'standard' gauge), and if others wish to use this as an extension to an existing route, or as a 'start' point for a new route, I'd be happy with that, I'd only ask for crediting for the original work.

Hey rowdy,

It's not the cab shots that are holding me back. It's making the damn cab... There's a lot more required to make a good cab. I have a fairly functional cab as it is, but it's fairly bland. I'm not overly fond of it as it stands, but I honestly don't have the patience at the moment to spend time trying to make it look right.

Thanks for the compliment Mulie. I also appreciate the hard work that everyone else puts into their work, partially because I know how hard it can be, and the rest because I think they are doing good work. I must admit that some of the Vic stuff that's coming out is great stuff too.

Imagine if you will, a post-apocalyptic world, that so clearly come to the end of all life on this planet - humanity no longer exists, but over the interviening months, nature has wrought her magic and started to turn this blighted, nightmarish landscape back into a thing of beauty. Slowly but surely, nature takes back that which we took for granted, our technology, our homes and our way of life, will be no more, as everything falls apart and is reclaimed.

Today saw the opening of ZecRails new workshops... At 7am, the train departed Dhura Oon with a large group of people attending the opening... Mind you, they only went so they could ride behind a steam train... :P Myself, even though I'm in charge of ZecRail, I went trackside. The train ran well, with K103 sounding great working the grade out of Merebin. TS2009 was also heard working hard on this grade... We also ran a short shuttle service out to Devon junction, where we picked up some passengers who used the mainline service to reach the junction...

anyways, the pics!

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202738.html
K103 and TS2009 sit in the platform at Dhura Oon prior to departure...

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202739.html
K103 rattles over the Merebin River bridge at 25KM/H due to a speed restriction...

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202741.html
K103 loads TS2009 and the train across the Merebin river, again.

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202743.html
K103 pulls into Devon Junction to obtain the staff for the section... This station is intended for passengers coming on up trains to change to a rail motor service that is to be implemented in the future...

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202745.html
Having run down the dual gauge track from the Junction, K103 the train into the workshops for the first time.

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202746.html
It's now about 7:30am, and K103 coasts into the platform at the ZecRail Workshops.

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202748.html
K103 and Ts2009 rest in the platform...

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202749.html
Having shunted off the train and taken water at the 'new' water towers, K103 takes on coal from the 'new' coal stage before running back onto the turn table...

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202751.html
Now turned, K103 sits in the platform whilst waiting to depart with the shuttle service.

http://zecrail.fotopic.net/p56202752.html
K103 powers out of the ZR yard and onto the dual gauge track. The 'ground' signal is for the standard gauge line.

Hey nice work Dreddy, are these all going to be 3ft6???????? PLEASE..:D

Nice shot Dreddy, I think an old car would suit that scene perfectly. I think these things would have been common back then, but now a days, rare as hen's teeth.

An XK Falcon, first introduced in 1960 and they were American.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e299/Colhad/TRS2006%20Screenies/FordXKFalcon.jpg

I see one parked in the street just up from Alderley train station, on the front bonnet it has the letters muddled up. It says "FROD" instead of "FORD", seems typos can happen anywhere, even on cars.

This one might be done, I can't do much better with the rear I'm afraid. With rear tyres, I cut half a cylinder and shaped it to give the effect of a full tyre. It does ok, it does better on the left side than the right though.

Thanx Muliebuck, I have also done some 2foot cane stuff that I sent out for testing and haven't heard a thing, so I should release them then.:hehe:

I sent you some feedback in an email a long time ago, did you not get it?

I haven't been able to do much Trainz wise for awhile, too much work.
from memory i got some of it into TRS04, the cane bins, the red loco failed
none of the bogeys went across to '04. :'(

If you do release them, if it's not too much to ask

Please consider a TRS'04 release so everyone could use these beauties
Maybe put it to a vote.

Answer: it was painted green for the Annual Brisbane Exhibition, it retained this colour for several years until an accident forced replacement cars to come in and the set reverted back to original colours.

Probably going off topic, but I want to ask a question of mainly people who've been living in Brisbane since the 70s.

I remember as a kid Ascot Taxis of Brisbane had a green and gold livery. To this day, I still remember seeing green and gold HQs, XBs etc. The livery was sort of in triangles, green with a yellow triangle down the side, on the bonnet and boot.

I was a toddler when these things were around, I think they were gone by early 80s. Ascot changed to a blue and white livery on the XD, XEs etc.

Ascot Taxis was taken over by Black and White.

Off topic, but I make cars so it is something that I would consider making, will make some taxis if I can get some god pics. Need to some how take pics of a stationery cab while the owner isn't around. Front, side rear shots would be good.:)

Its very simple to do - two 'hill' displacements opposing each other to form the valley, make a small river 'cutting' at the bottom, lay the track in a sort of 'bending' type way (basically, it skirts the edges of the hills), add some trackside scenery and such (grass, telegraph poles, etc), texture it with some random textures that look nice, and put a 'forest' spline about 1/3 the way 'up' the hill and there you have it :)

With such wonderful new routes being created, and ESPECIALLY this current-day line in particular, turning a dream into reality by Ausrail8040... I'm sure some kind person out there with the many skills I never took the time to learn, about how to make models etc.. could have a go at making a connex comeng or perhaps a hitachi etc.. I know many have been started to then be set aside later, due to other commitments etc.. even if its payware, i'd pay if the quality was up there with the fantastic Xtrap model....

Sure, I do wish I had taken the time years ago to learn how to make models etc, but I never did, you all do such a fantastic job and have done just that with so much VR and V/Line items.. i'm looking forward to the day someone has a go at melbourne suburbans, and other current, up to date trains.. :D

*chuckles* I've just needed the inspiration, ideas and so on - this one is fairly easy (well, kinda) to design, as its primarily single-line, bi-directional working, on a 'tourist' type railway, so wouldn't be much 'line traffic', which makes me happy.

As for never finishing anything, well, is it *my* fault I'm easily distracted and...

That bridge, is Bridge Colhad Wood 1T, by Stryker (aka Geoff Steele), KUID 69937:10064

Hi Muliebuck,

(aka him plurry good pfella, him!) :Y:

Thanks for the bridge kuid & that Stryker's the author.

(yet another plurry good pfella; him). :hehe: :o

A project Craig (aka...."seeseeme", ..yet another plurry pfella :hehe: ) & I are working on
has several similar-looking low bridges along it's over-100 mile length.

I really appreciate the excellence of scene 'dressing' you do, & the speed at which you accomplish same.

Add me to that list, Thats why i never release any of the routes i make anymore, I posted some shots of a NG coalmine route i did which consisted of about 7 zig zags up the side of the mountain with a max grade of about 8 :p

Soooo...they're selling old SX set 45? How much? :) No, seriously - nice screenies

re: 0099, what I've found 'works' is when I'm 'happy' with a route, and ready to send it to the Auran DLS, I'll delete every dependency in that route and 're-download' them, what isn't on the DLS, is then removed from the route, its resaved and when everything is 'there' I send it to the DLS. Also, having friends whol will help you to 'beta-test' it (the route/content/etc), really helps - but they got to be on the ball and communicate with you. Nobody likes to hear 'yeah, its great!' - they got to be honest - they see a problem, then tell the route builder, so it can be fixed.

This way, the major 'kinks' in the route can be fixed, any non-dls content is removed from the route, so the 'end user' who downloads it, has minimal or no problems running said route, and everyone is happy. I say stick with it, keep route building, as it seems to me, so many Aussie route builders have either 'fallen through the cracks' or just stopped creating, and this is disheartening, as there were some fantastic routes being made - and more are always going to be gratefully recieved (especially by yours truly) :)

Blame Dreddy - he wanted a 'yard' he could use, to take screenshots with, so this is, more or less, the 'finished' product - sure, the township/etc still stinks, but for the sake of screenshots, then the yard is effectively 'done' so I should stop slacking off and give it to him, so he can show of his wonderful new content :)

Mullie,

There is a problem with your recent layouts and instead of PMing you thought to post here as others my know the answer.

I downloaded "NSWGR Leopold Yard" kuid 99935:1216 to 2009. In doing so I never got any dependencies from the DLS, only the layout itself. 2009 did not "see" any dependencies to download at that time, however it told me which dependencies it needed. I downloaded them ok, but had another problem and I am not sure why.

I think one problem is with the first line in the Config File which has "Region <kuid-1:7801> ". I am not sure but I think 2009 saw this in the Config File and never read any more of the file and therefore missed the dependencies.

I first started to look at your layouts when I was showing another member how to download content using TrainzAgent. For some reason we ended up downloading your layout into 2004. While your layout did not work in 2004, the example was a good one. However, TrainzAgent also did not find any required Dependencies either.

The other problem I saw was with 1 dependency, 2009 told me it was missing "kuid2:146087:27101:127". I could find kuid:146087:27101 on the DLS but had to manually change the Config File for it to work.

Not sure of why the above happened, but I hope this helps.

Sadly, beyond my control, three modular routes I uploaded, which were QR Wherearewe, NSWGR Wherearewe and NSWGR Leopold yard, which *were* built in TRS2006 with SP1 (so, theoretically, should work in SP1/TC/TRS2009), somehow, got 'classified' by the DLS as UTC (Sp3) content. Why, I truly do not know - but I have raised this issue privately with Auran Admin, and have since uploaded new versions (revision :1) of these routes, in hopes that they will upload successfully. I do apologise for this, but as I done everything right - I do not know how they as TRS2006 routes, got classified as UTC when their Trainz Build tag clearly states 2.6.

As for the content with the :127, there is a lot of this about - Advance has a fair number of them, but a lot of it is Robertoconti19's excellent foilage. I think, and I may be wrong, that this is caused by content creators giving their content, the KUID ID of KUID2:XXXX:XXXX:0 - which the DLS can not seem to understand (which I suspect is right - as it should be KUID:XXXX:XXXX, or KUID2:XXXX:XXXX:1), so it goes and adds :127 onto it. Editing the config of offending item can help, but if its downloaded again, then it will 'revert' back to the :127 KUID ID ending - only the content creator can 'update' this, to the correct KUID ID and reupload, as version KUID2:XXXX:XXXX:1, or higher.

If you would like the routes, until I can get them 'properly' uploaded, I would be more than happy to send them to you (as they are only small, modular routes), and then you can import them to CMP and it *should* then find all the missing dependencies. I've gone out of my way to remove any :127 content, but some may have 'slipped under the radar'.

*edit* Having just 'checked' these three modular routes, uploaded again, it seems they are to be approved (they're in the waiting area) and correctly 'flagged' as TRS2006 / SP1 content.

Hi Mulie,

Glad to hear you know about the problem and have fixed it. It was a strange one and I was not quite sure of the answer to it.

The ":127" problem has been there for a while and yes some of those errors come from "kuid2:123456:123456:0", though I am not sure why others occur.

Thanks for the offer of sending the routes, but I will leave it until they are on the DLS, I have enough to play with now :hehe: .

The bridges that burned down were the ones on the up side of Yarra Glen (long term IIRC), and on the up side of Tarrawarra (non operation track, from what I've heard they had been hoping to run on this section to Yarra Glen by March). So, as it stands right now, the operational section of the line is untouched...

Those locomotives in Dreddmans screenshots are still very much 'Work in Progress' beta's, undergoing extensive testing on Mark's behalf, with a group of beta-testers, to help iron out any outstanding kinks in the system, then it is hoped, when Mark is satisified with them - they will be released, but *only* when he's truly happy with them.

Some good news..
The VicTrainz forums are now back online. Unfortunately, or fortunately (from my point of view, admin wise), we are starting from scratch...

This means re-registering on the forum. But it also means I don't have to go through and try and setup permissions, etc in a large list. I just set up people as they come along.

The forum can be found here: http://forum.victrainz.com.au/

Please register. But also, please be patient... It will be a little while before our file storage and image storage areas are back online.

Also got a new 'theme' started... Still need to change all the images over...

As for my yards (and thats pretty much ALL there is of those screenshots, not a whole lot else), no, its not on the DLS. Ah, but it means that, for every image posted, we have to load that one more than once... It also eats up the image poster's bandwidth... And, I think you might find that, those with personal hosting, will want you to not do this to them...

It's also common courtesy to not post images in quotes :)

I think, if you take this advice, people might be more willing to help. An attitude of "I'll do what I like, stuff everyone else" (which is basically what you've taken by saying 'sorry, but I like keeping them') is not a way to win friends here :)

It already is starting to get painful but hopefully my skill should improve with it. I need to go take some photos of another station to try and create a more realistic feel towards it. I'm designing it to work as a 4 platform station, but parts of it will be cut off (alternative version) to make it workable as a 2 or 3 platform station.

It also needs a massive polygon reduction too, lol. Each set of stairs is over 300 polygons.

My present was a second 22" widescreen LCD monitor. The top of my desk is now full, but I now have plenty of screen space...

The Countrylink XPT now has it's "cousin" in the new livery. Now all I have to do is fix the XPT, properly...

psycho_aussie
February 18th, 2009, 01:40 AM
You should be able to download them from the Download Station, through TS2009's Content Manager 2. I have a few locos under my kuid (1551), and there are several others up there as well.

Try a search in CM2 under Location: Download Station, Name: QR. That will show all the assets on the DLS that have QR in their name, which includes scenery, layouts, rolling stock and locomotives.

Craig (Seeseeme) & I need a railmotor that ran on the old NSW Narrandera_Tocumwal line. :)
Does anyone know what that would have been, & if there's one available (or Dredd, 'potentially available'?), for TRS2004?. :o

No need to swap as I will do these for free, only because I would love to see em all in 3ft6 and I have a lot of 3ft6 meshes that are working just got to get the textures looking right, also would love to get those couplers scripted right so they couple when joining trains right, also will test stuff for toy in 09 so that any one can download and install into any version without any errors.

Hi dreddman,

I like the 1700 class bronco, how about one in Kuranda livery with the lizard along the sides? The news that you are going to release content in std. and 3'6 gauges is great too.

keep up the good work.
Cheers,

yes it was mate, there are remains next to it of the old timber bridge that used to run across the Coffs Creek. hope ausrail liked his touch of home.
