What about a good old 1967 4 door Pacer VE had a blue one up to a few years ago with the nice large hemi V8 you know the ones were you could sit at the traffic lights and watch the fuel gauge drop :). the only problem was it cost me almost $100 a week to get to work which was only a two block drive. For some reason Mrs bear convinced me to sell it.

Do have a white 1974 Chrysler Valiant VJ Ranger sitting in the carport but its only used for the odd weekend drive, got it form a priest - I kid you not very low miles about 30,000- only driven to church on Sundays

Here is a riiddle for you! What seats 7 in comfort, has 7 airbags five doors a completely flat floor when 5 seats are folded flat. Goes 760 km on a 76 litre tank of diesel, has constant 4WD, runs flat out on sand, mud, rainstorms and dust. Climbs like a billy goat! I kid you not I have had it on hills that make it impossible to open the door much less get out, and it kept climbing.
Wades down the Kiewa river for 2.5 kms so we can go pick up the deer, son just shot, without a snorkel! Has no springs unless you look under the upholstery. Has an engine and gearbox sourced in Europe and powers some of the finest limosines built.
Has two chassis and weighs 3.2 tonnes!! (and I am not fibbing I get 9.0 l per hundred at 110 on the freeway, and average 10.0 on a trip. Even with a 2 tonne van on the rear I average 15 L per hundred.
And when its life is expired, very little of it goes to Japan to build Toyotas!! Ha Ha.

Looks like I better take a picture Ha Ha! The range rover (sport) someone mentioned has most of the attributes, I admit. However it seems to have lost its heavy ladder chassis. I believe because of safety crash test studies. It seems that they cannot tie the body of a SuV to a chassis. When it is crash tested the body breaks free and disintegrates around the occupants offering less protection than a 1962 Ford Falcon.
My vehicle suffers a weighty fix to the problem By building the vehicle as a monococ and then bolting it onto a full ladder chassis. So it behaves in the bush like it should, but if you hit something hard enough to dislodge the body from the chassis the crumble zones can then protect the occupants.
However at 1 ton lighter the Range Rover Sports cruises at 6.9 L per 100 km, and seems to be able to do as well as mine in the bush too. Wish I could afford one of those!! :) Fixed the caravan today. Ha Ha it certainly holds the truck back when I tour and suffers a lot of problems on the dirt, unlike the truck!!

Hey all, it's been a long time between visits. A few new faces poking their noses in since I last dropped by, great to see. :)

I've just spent the last few days challenging my route making abilities by attempting to design a single baseboard layout that can handle trains running alternate directions servicing 2 stations and 2 freight yards, as well as having a reasonable sized loco depot... and being able to run all trains CPU controlled without errors and traffic jams... while not making it look too cluttered.

So far the majority of my time has been spent running 30min hands-behind-the-back tests to make sure the AI are as intelligent as half of their name suggests.

Here's an early shot of playing with some ground textures and flora. (Please excuse the horrid road in the bottom left):

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/5372/uploaduw0.png (http://imageshack.us)

Now my question is; Is it at all possible to turn off traffic all together from all roads without going through each config file to edit it?

They look great, I've been looking for some new traffic that have wheels thicker than toothpicks.

Maybe a suggestion: Rotate the wheel textures on cars with mags on front and back, and mirror the opposite side, I'm just imagining having a string of them parked together all with matching wheels, like Peter Perfect parked all of them himself.

I've had multiple reformats and installations of TRS in between visits here, unfortunatly the SSR 44 was very low on my list of things to keep. But I can't imagine it would be hard to do again, especially with my new found photoshop'ing skills. I'll see what I can whip up for you when I get a spare half a day or so to do a decent job of it.

Zec, I don't know if comtrain visits here often, do you think he would mind if I attempted to repaint his VLINE Y in VR Blue?... Or is it something I should wait for?

Actually, the person to ask would be ad602000. The user ID 1854 is the VicTrainz group kuid (shows in CMP/CM2 as 'comtrain' instead of VicTrainz though).

You won't have much luck reskinning it to VR blue without the mesh though, as the textures are tiled over it, instead of being mapped out. I have a feeling there may be a VR blue one in the works though, by someone else. But sure though :)

0099: I just tried to get a start on that SSR 44, but paintshed wont open, it says something to do with no language selected, but gives me no option to choose one. Anyway, if you want a skin done I'll need you to do a full white reskin of a 44 in paintshed, and post the texture file here so I can work on it. I don't remember if it's possible, but if it is, can you please save it in at least 1024*... 2048* would be prefered.

EDIT: I've managed to find a skin base to work with. I forgot how much of a bitch it is to line up the front and sides because of Aurans weird scaling.

I'm nicknaming this one 'The Gummy Bear'. :hehe: From here on in it's going to be a long slow process, unless TRS2009 has the 44 Class in high detail so I can steal the base skin for it.

In any case, I don't think I'll be done with this for at least 2 weeks. I have other projects that need to be worked on too, and I'm moving into Brisbane next week to study avionics at uni, so TRS will have to be pushed aside a bit.

Edit: Scrap that. It appears that once I start something I have great trouble walking away from it. Only the roof to paint black, a bit of healthy weathering and work out how to get the number boards to work.

I wish I could agree with you Rai, it's giving me no end of trouble, turns out that by todays standards the Auran 44 Class has been left far behind. It's definitely getting there though. :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

On another note, attention to all TRS affiliated content producers and providers, I would like to give you all free advertising space on my route 'Quorne' - which I am bending over backwards to get at this years AMRA Exhibition in Brisbane - possibly Sydney too, provided I can find the time. If you would like your content advertised, please design a billboard style sign 512x256, and send me them via PM. You can have as many or as few as you like, and I'll make sure your signs all get as much exposure as possible. :D

(If anyone is still in touch with the CWS guys it would be good to ask if they are still interested, I'd like to hope they haven't bowed out for good.)

You're not wrong! I've confined them to "trailing unit only" status, although they look a bit sad behind a CWS 48 or 81 :). Usually lump them behind a Jumbo (now that model HAS stood the test of time quite nicely).

Yeh, they're still doing quite well. Now that I've done 40+ layers for all the parts of the 44, I might consider reskinning the 2 Auran models in 2048* textures... If I find the time. :)

Very nice, Zec. I'm loving all the content coming from VICTRAINZ at the moment, some of the highest quality stuff around. :D

Next time you're on Skype I'll need to ask some signaling questions for your VR semaphores, I've become a little too comfortable with thew CWS signals that when I replaced them the AI started jumping red lights.

When you converted this route to TRS2009, did all your track return to the default Auran standard bump?

Yikes!,
Who was the last gang out there doing track maintenance!!???.
Perhaps a tad more ballast under the sleepers on the right-hand end is needed??.
(or is that just 'distortion' through the glass)?.
(thinks to myself......"maybe it was old Jock as foreman. He's two inches shorter in the left leg.
That would explain the odd camber, eh? :) )

I did a quick Google search for some specs and I found that the HR Holdens were released in April 1966, if anyone can confirm it or not, please let me know in this thread.

The reason I need a correct date is cos I did a "special" number plate, pardon the pun. HRH-466 stands for HR Holden, April 1966 the date they were possibly released.

Anyhow, here's the screenie.

Hi Col,

Now your cookin mate.
That's exactly the kind of 'niche' vehicles Trainz needs.
There's so much 1950's through to 1970's Australian vehicle content not yet available.
But now you too have entered the ranks of the likes of
Willem2 & VinnyBarb, who constantly find 'missing links' in the Trainz arsenal.
Apologies to those 'niche-fillers' of Australian content I have not mentioned here.
I know your 'out there' somewhere!.
VinnyBarb certainly is!. :hehe::o:wave:
He know's what I mean.

Col if you still have that email I sent you with all the links, one of the Holden ones has a lot of the model dates etc data.
Some excellent information on a couple of those sites. Just re-read the email.
If you would like me to resend it let me know.

Now, I have done another HR, I've added a sunvisor at the front and rear. The front one isn't perfect I know, but I found it a really dificult shape to model. That is probably the best I could do at the moment.

Slight reskin too, here it is....

Hi Col,

These are brilliant!.
You've even got the suspension droop just right!.
We used to use these in Deniliquin NSW for work.
I was a PMG Telecomm Technician back then, & these things got a beating
over long miles & rough roads, with heavy loads.

You have captured 'the look' imho perfectly.

Love the texturing. Your making me homesick for the 'good old days'! :'(:hehe::wave:

Yeh, they're looking great Colhad, just one question though: Is is possible to taper the roof in so it's not as wide as the sides, or does that require a lot of extra mesh building? The roofs of cars aren't as wide as the sides, it would great instability on the road. hehe

Hi all,

For those of you who have already downloaded my NGHF hoppers, and have noticed the 'flipped normals' on the canopies of the wagons, I have now fixed the problem and have now uploaded a newer version to th DLS, so it should be up in a few days :) ! Thanks to davido for directing me on how to fix the problem!

They are MHGX hoppers. Some are in service for Manildra, and others are in service with El Zorro. AHGX I *think* is the code of the wagons in service with El Zorro.

Hi Jamez

I can tell you that the roof does taper, it's just not that noticeable in those shots. If you looked at them from front on, you will see that.

I will post a front shot for you to see. Unfortunately, I can't taper it too much otherwise it will distort the textures and polys, which it's doing at the moment. I've been trying to learn another method for making cars but just haven't got it right yet.

Brought TS09 in a shop yesterday, found that most of the content was in German language, and it didn't have the TC3 Content in it (which i am heavily attached to due to the steam effects).
So far i rate it 2 stars.

My question is for Zec, that track in your recent screenies, is it available to download?
and are there any Aussie Steam locos at the TC3 standard so i can have them in the game?

Oh and Colhad, YOU ARE DOING AN AWESOME JOB ON THE CARS!!!!, cant wait to have them driving around the world...

The actual point work is a bit difficult due to the number of changes that the track pack keeps going through. When Andi finishes his 09 junction kit, I will look into them then. It's not really worth doing the junction for the 04-TC3 set, since these have a fairly different shape (especially ballast) compared to the TS09 version. And I'm still tweaking the 09 version. I'm hoping to put it all into a single texture sometime soon, if some of my changes pan out. If this occurs, it will make it run reasonable well. When I do get up to the points, I will base them off KKeeley's work, but will have to make them myself so that that match in with the current shape, and textures. And this will allow me to tweak these as I tweak the rest of the model as well.

Love the way they move houses in Queensland.
I was running a caravan along the developement road between Cairns and Normanton when I saw this Queenslander at the end of a long straight. It was shimmering enough to be a mirage and as I was only doing about 45 MPH it took for ever to get to it. I'm thinking fancy having to divert a road around a farm house way out here. Anyway I was probably a bit dazed by the monontonous emptiness, when all of a sudden I noticed a Police car with lights on. Strangely enough he had his door open and was laughing at me. Must have seen the expression on my face as I headed for the sand to avoid this monster.
The two trucks were road trains with stock crates on the back. Two multi wheel flat beds supported the house high in the air. The multi wheeled beds were coupled via a heavy frame that hung off another A frame linking the two stock trucks!
Quite a site!!
Cheers

Glen,

From what I know, you need to get the Trainz Art Source CD, which I understand Auran has sold out of.

44 Class repaints are available on the DLS, and TRS2004 has paintshed which I use to create the detail overlay from a plain grey paintjob.

The 45 was originally Ringarooma's (I think), I did this repaint mainly in MS Paint to be honest. It was a relitively simple way of doing things. :)

Cool. This is on my test layout. It's a similar design to Highland Valley, with Orbury being the main station. The way it works so that the standard and broad don't clash is the broad gauge is the terminus, and to get up the branch you drive all the way around the dual track mainline back to Orbury, where you enter from the standard gauge end, from there you can stunt in the yards, turn around and go back, or continue up (the branch). I've based it on the 1962 plans of Albury when they only had one dual gauge line in the transshipping yard adjacent to the station, which I've made the mainline goods through track, so if you really want to you can just keep looping the main line. :)

I'll just call it a Falcon GT then, I am confused as to what model I am making.

I'll just make a note here folks, I'm not really a revhead but I have found something I like doing. Modelling cars has given me a new interest, I mean I like cars but not a revhead.

I hope to get better at modelling, I'm still a n00b really, I know I have much to learn about modelling.

Dear Cook, May I Ask Where Do You Get Those Three Sets Of Signal & Points Levers Because If Its On DLS I Am Getting Those Levers Straight Away!. They Are Exactly Similar To Those Used By Queensland Government Railways In Their Yards & Signal Boxes & Some Are Still In Use.

It might just be done, the Ford GT Falcon, some say it's an XY, some say it's an XW. I can't say for sure what model it is, but it will be released as Ford XY Falcon500 GT.

I've tried improving a lot of things since I posted the first screenie of it, I hope it looks more correct now.....

The levers are built in content in TRS2006 and TS2009.
The semaphores are by Jetstreamsky. There is also a updated version by Alex23.

Alby6 made some QR EMU units, Psycho_Aussie has made some XPT units (maybe not what you're looking for), and I believe, Davido (from Cardiff Workshops fame) made some Explorer sets and the 620 class railmotors. I do not know, if any of these will work correctly in TRS2009 WBE, as I haven't gotten that far with it personally.

With that, I'm hoping to scoot off and go film the AHRS Tour to Dirranbandi, which (I believe!) is to be hauled by vintage QR Heritage unit 1620, in original livery.

That must be why it's called Coffs Harbour, full of coffee drinkers. Then they smoke cigarettes and start Coffing.

G'day Col,

As a coffee-soaker ( I absorb coffee from my surroundings),
I blend in fairly well here. :o:hehe:

However as yet I haven't seen anyone driving along with two coffee flasks
strapped to the dash of their 4x4, unlike our Canadian friends of Alberta & BC.

I suspect that it's a road code; that at every stop (sign &/or traffic light)
it's mandatory (& probably womandatory) to have at least two sips,
before moving off. Irrespective of the way ahead being clear. :udrool:

And another BTW....

Hi Warren,
I have never seen pics of the loco hauled cars, whats the difference apart from a lack of engines?

None as far as I know, except that the driver's cab might be missing.

Regards,
Warren
