Hi,

I have been looking through all my "Signs" I have and also on the DLS but still could not find what I am looking for.

Does anyone know if there is a sign for "Stop, Rest, Survive (whatever after/before this)" that is quite common in NSW, I am not sure of other States but I imagine they are the same.

Thanks,

Craig

Hi Tom, sorry I had not thanked you for the offer of help but like I said I could not find a good photo/image of one either. Then Bill was able to come up with one. Happy Birthday Ghosty,
I reckon that Coffs Harbour is a nice little place. We stayed there for the first week of the June/July hols (Queensland ones so a week before the bunch of rabble flooded in from NSW), and we went up to to Dorrigo through Bellingen first. Whilst in Bellingen we took a pleasure cruise down the river in kayaks for an hour. Up in Dorrigo we had a look at the railway museum they've been trying to build for a millenium. I got a leaflet while we were up at the station - 7 MILLION BUCKS they've spent on acquiring the stock. Bloody hell, you've got to be utterly devoted to trains to fork out that much dough. But they've got everything - from small tanks right up to the AD60, stem to electric - hell, they've got a bloody complete XPT set up there! The cost of transporting it all would've been astronomical. Hats off to them, guys, they're the real deal.

So happy birthday Ghosty, once again. Hope the day works out for ya!

Cheers,
Hayden Lynch

probably will, I compltely forgot about it. It's nothing fancy, have to thank Jimbob for getting some really good graphical material for it. The platforms are low detail, but with all the signage and stuff available now you could really tart it up. the only disappointment is that no one has thought of a way to get a clock that is linked to the PC clock so it works

Pete, back in the mists of time (and dare I even mention the "old forum") I seem to remember a lot of discussion about clocks that worked and I am pretty sure that there was a working station platform clock.

EDIT: Search clock rule and you will find a rule that enables animated clocks.

Hi Colhad.... the carpark is made up of "Parking stripe spline" , "JJS Road Stripes Single White" (spline) , "TB NW Narrow RW Finish" (spline - lowered to a height of -0.53 to create the "curb") and a one of my new custom textures captured from the carpark itself...... oh ... and a grass spline next to the curb to mask the "texture overflow" as iI call it.
It was a tedious job creating it! But worth it.

Keep it up mate, few of us have the talent to use 3D Max and we need many more to advance our aussie content. Both Alyx and Nic are trying to get some content out for SA too. So things should improve in the future.

It's been 12 years since the broad gauge line to Victoria was converted to standard gauge, and a small group of volunteers has worked hard to get steam loco 520 up and running on the Standard gauge... Happily, their labour has paid off and today saw the first of hopefully many trips around the SA's standard gauge system by 520 and a string of restored SAR carriages...
The train ran a special, called 'steam through the hills', from Mt Barker Junction to Keswick terminal in Adelaide which was fully packed.

http://www.victrainz.com.au/s301/stuff/images/adelaide/2008-520-sg-run-01.jpg
520 class, #520, is seen sitting at Mt Lofty station with the train.

http://www.victrainz.com.au/s301/stuff/images/adelaide/2008-520-sg-run-02.jpg
Further along, the train is seen slowing for Belair station where it will have to wait for a Adelaide bound fright service to clear the section ahead...

Looking down the locomotive towards Adelaide.

http://www.victrainz.com.au/s301/stuff/images/adelaide/2008-520-sg-run-04.jpg
After a fairly short wait, the train is seen departing Belair for Adelaide.

http://www.victrainz.com.au/s301/stuff/images/adelaide/2008-520-sg-run-05.jpg
Finally entering the suburbs of Adelaide, 520 is seen powering towards the journey's end...

520 stands proud with the train at Keswick after a spirited run down the standard gauge...

Once I update it a little, sure. The actual workshops (just a row of sheds at the moment) are at the southern end of Wadalbavale. Thats just a single road shed, that gets only a small amount of use...

lesley
November 2nd, 2008, 04:29 AM
Nope, they're not. They are cjlear's containers which I think are available on the DLS (If not, I know they're on Razorback) under '40ft Containers' and also '20ft Containers'. Once downloaded, use the + tool in the ? thingy to add them to the list :)

Tom, you're my hero, thankyou!

On a similar note, does anyone know of any 20ft containers that would be used for bulk flour or other products similar? Such containers have lids on the top like a flour hopper... I know the Hamburg Sud containers used on the Bomaderry trains are of this type, just wondering if any exist for Trainz.

Quick question for anyone (kinda off topic)...

What would you say is an excessive amount of poly count for a station concourse? Is 5000-7500 pushing it?

I'm trying to get as much detail in as possible for realism whilst keeping it not too excessive with the poly count.

S301
November 2nd, 2008, 10:08 PM
Depends on which version. 04/06/TC(1,2,3) should have as low as possibly (much lower than that, if it's just the building). TS2009 should be happy with that though. If you can, try implementing LOD on it :)

As for the first pic... Well, yep. Thats the last developer build of TS2009, as was the second pic...

Zec

Deadly

It'd be for 06. I was just checking cause my model will be at 2000 without the roof sections added. They are all curved and cover the entire model. I'll have a toy around with LoD and see what I can do with that, lol.

0099
November 3rd, 2008, 12:37 AM
Well if you show us how detailed first...;)

Im happy to download something that "big" if its got good detail not just using up alot of poly's.

Deadly
November 4th, 2008, 03:27 AM
I'll show you what it looks like at the moment, but a single texture makes it look less detailed, lol. For a specialised route though, a station would be a focus point hence being allowed to have more polygons where necessary. Would you agree?

Deadly, that overhead bridge looks exactly like the one I see whenever I go through Ingleburn on the way south!

Edit: Just about to pre-order my copy of TRS2009, do we know what new Aussie stuff will be in it, at this stage?

I think it does kinda look good now, but when I start texturing it, thats when i'll break it, lol.

@Raichase
I'll be building more things you notice on the trip south, just waiting till I can get some useable photos of the stations.

Hi Ghosty,

an update on the weighbridge, it is a work in progress but here is a pic.

A bit more to do and I hope it will fit in with your layout.

Trainz89, We ment screenshots of the loco you've made, not what its based off.

Alcoholic, From what i can tell so far there might hopefully be some new stuff the guys at CWS made before taking a break and the world engineers edition will inculde more of the high poly stuff you've seen screens of lately.

At this stage, the only known Aus content for the WBE of TS2009, will be the content that was included in TRS2006, plus the Wallagara station.

World Builder will have the content from TRS2006, plus the german content from '2007', plus the content in TC1/2. There will also be some new content (only known is the 'example track', a tree, a ground texture, some cars, and the UP SD40, a new road, and a hedge spline, more than likely there will be more of course...).
I'm going to hazard a guess that TS2009EE will have the same, plus more, but only with driver in it. Hopefully this will be able to be integrated with 'world builder' so that we can get all of the content...

Zec, thanks for that info mate. I always hesitate when buying the first of a product like this incase a later "Aussie" version comes out or something, which contains content that you can't get without buying the same game again...

You'll need to buy WBE edition if you want to do more than just drive, since the EE edition will not include surveyor :(

Anthony, why wouldn't you want to release it to the public? I would if I could ever finish anything to my own satisfaction... :).

Well, there's not much done at the moment, a long way away from anything worth screenshotting, but this should do in the interim - you can KINDA tell that I'm not done texturing or landscaping yet...

626/726 sit on the Railmotor siding at Blackwell Rail, while 8127/48124 shunt container flats in the yard.

So far the yard has a container siding (room for 16-18 60ft flats) and a flour mill siding with runaround (iirc 12 hoppers fit there?). Trying to keep things small at this stage, easier to manage...

Talking to self, but I kinda lost that model now which really does suck. It was lost in a format. Not sure why I didn't think to check the gmax folder, whilst grabbing just about everything else on the drive.

Doubt I can do a partition recovery too.

There seems to be a problem with these splined trees, hence the 'shine through' effect - I'm trying to find a way to fix this issue, as they're nice trees, and low poly, so that's a bonus as well, but the effect is quite noticeable.

Ha Ha! and so typical. The local council comes along and puts bitumen right over the tracks, so they know a train is never going to come, and yet the motorists still have to stop and give way to trains!
Its a bit like our Council down here. They think they might do some roadwork sometime. Some idiot comes out with witches hats and closes off a lane and puts up 40 k speed signs! 4 weeks later everybody knows their is no works going on, speed creeps back up to 80 kph and the workers arrive the same day the speed camera is set up.
Anyway nice shots :D

Just to prove I am still doing things - A couple of different grain trains entering the flour mill (the actual mill at this stage is just the CWS flour mill with a run around loop...)

The brick buildings, are FMA Abandoned bld 2 (kuid:149987:25585) and FMA Abandoned bld 5 (kuid:149987:255888). There's a few in the set, so you might want to grab all of them. They suited what I was trying to do well (just a shame there's no more like that).

Comtrain: Thanks for the comments, they're always gratefully recieved, and yeah - the track is meant to be closed and abandoned, but I just can't get the right look/feel for it (of course, there's nothing stopping someone from driivng a train along that line :P).

Eventually, said spur terminates at the (supposedly) abandoned shell depot, up around the corner. I've posted speedboards of 25km/h max on the 'branch', but it still needs work (as does the whole route). I might release it later as a yard route, for others to use as they see fit, and do what they want with it. At present, I'm not happy with the texturing, but the yards/etc are fairly extensive - got some issues with signalling and such, but hopefully these can be fixed and I'll get some beta-testers to give it the once-over, so I can fix up any niggling issues before its uploaded.
