Once a thriving industry supported by local farmers, rising prices have forced farmers to walk away from their farms, resulting in the closure of their local co-op and with the closure, the railways abandoned the siding, its fate yet to be decided.

Hi guys,
First off, great stuff Patchy, well done.
Secondly I have been been busy with work & haven't had any Trainz time for awhile. :(
I have had no Progress with any Sugarcane industry items.
If somebody can help with making any of these,
I will give $150Australian for a complete Hi-Quality working Interactive Sugarcane industry, with the 5 items below (1 Loco)
Or $25 to each Hi-Quality item made separately as well, to have variety.
No more than 2 harvesters or 2 complete mills
only 1 bin & siding required.
Loco's are unlimited.
Cheers,
Torana.:)
Hi Torana,
Yes I guess we have waited long enough :hehe:
And if you get good quality stuff, then you could put it out as payware to recover your investment
I thought of doing the same thing myself, because it appears only three or four people are interested in the little railway with more track than one or two of the state systems :'(
However good luck with your tender!
Cheers

ps are you in a position to put together pictures with measurements, or supply plans? We would need something to work with?

I am interested in this sugar mill and bin tippler and the sidings and harvesters and transporters and all the other stuff. :)
I cant wait to see some more stuff cause there is so much sugar cane stuff in qld and we need more of it on trainz. If anyone wants pics of something just ask me and i am sure i will be able to get it for you
Cheers Mitch;)
PS. Here in bundy they only tip one six tonne bin at a time in the tippler.

Some good works from everyone...
A few screens from one`o mules fairly big fictional maps (slowly being bought back to life). One of which I don't think he has ever uploaded to the DS.

you're joking aren't you torana :hehe:
No I'm not joking, first in will get the $cash$. I've been waiting 4yrs already.
I used to live in the Burdekin (North Queensland) for 15yrs & became fond of the industry.
The only way is to relive my time there & have fun with a Sugarcane layout, is Trainz.
Hi Torana,

ps are you in a position to put together pictures with measurements, or supply plans? We would need something to work with?
First off, thanks for the suggestion, but i have no intention to resell anything as payware,
ALL goods would be released on DLS for everybody to use for free.
Secondly, the TRS2004 built in mill would be fine to start with.
With a rotary (2 bin) unloader, bulk Sugar out silo & a Molasses out silo
Just make it generic so it can be used anywhere in the world.
The Cane bin i want is all ready made by Shagster, Gmax files available at link below.
http://www.mybizsoftware.net/trainz/downloads.htm
The bin is fine as is, although the bogie's dont line up with the 2'4"in tracks.
Just make it loadable with Winnaa's Sugarcane product on DLS
And if some one could make the green loco sit on the track properly, it sits too low.
For the siding i don't know, I think a 5 track siding, 20bins on each to make 100 bins at max.
it would have a static, generic haul-out truck that has 2 full cane bins at one end that is backed up
down a dirt ramp to unload the bins at Rail level (ground).
The haul-out truck would be like the ones in the Burdekin (North Queensland),
Acco's like Natvanders trucks or similar.
reserved for photo
Loco's could be any Australian one's,
my preference is for the Burdekin cane trains, which can be found in Cane Railway operators, Herbert/Burdekin,
The burdekin mills are: Kalamia, Invicta, Pioneer, Inkerman.
Just click on current loco's
there are some available here http://www.canetrains.net/index.php
Just register to download 2 examples of loco's
that would give idea as to what you would you need to be done for a
hi-quality latest version of these fine examples.
Once registered, all photo's & info etc is available Goto Cane Train forums & then click on Workshops,
all Trainz info is available here.
It will be a bit quite at the moment as the crushing is on right now.

My previous post just reminded me of something happened to me a week ago.
I went to my hobby shop to check out the new wheat hoppers that Powerline had imported. They were hand weathered and I had been told they were very good, I took a fist full of cash with me. When I got there the cupboard was bare.. What sold them already, says I?
No mate they were so rubbish, I refused to stock them!! Geesh!! some people!! I was prepared to pay a premium price for realistic weathering!

Firstly you should calibrate your monitor (if you can) so that the colour you see really is that colour.
Second, don't just get the paintdropper and rely on grabbing colour from photos or even swabs (colour values from paint companies for example). You start with these colours, take them into the game and then work on them so they look right. Most need serious toning down before they look close (white is a perfect example).
Third, once the colour looks right, apply grime, dirt, dust, rust and shadow. These give the texture body, but must be applied gradually so as not to overdo it.
Fourth, when texturing the interior, it has to be dark. In some cases 50% or more darker that the actual colour. To see what I'm getting at, have a look at some pics of rollingstock and look inside the windows.

Nat and I argued over the candy colour scheme for ages (nearly came to blows and the parting of the ways :( ).
Having a colour calibrated monitor is handy but the best thing I can suggest is to look at photo's of the subject, there are some fantastic sites online for this, take notice of the weathering, shadows, highlights, buckling of panels etc.
I reckon if you're looking at a photo on the same monitor you are texturing on and you get the colours looking the same and the photo's a reasonable colour reproduction, you gotta be close.
Use a separate layer in your paint package for grime and shadows etc, so you don't end up destroying your original texture, and experiment. Layers are your friend and so is the undo button :D
I often put grime on dark and then decrease the opacity of the layer till I get it looking the way I want (or is that the way Nat wants :p).
As Nat says get it looking right in game/sim and don't worry too much about the official RGB's of the colour scheme.
Get an eye for detail......look at the photo see how the light falls, where the grime collects, where the shadows are then go and do the same to your model.

One last point that I forgot to make (and something Dave and I found out the hard way - read the candy comment), and refers to why it's so important not to rely on just grabbing colours from pics. The game renders colours slightly different in game to what you see in your paint program. The colours are generally more vibrant and saturated in game.
Also, different assets handle colours differently, especially splines. To see what I mean, grab a ground texture and apply it to a scenery item and a spline and place them all in game to see the difference.
I can't stress enough the point of calibrating your monitor's colour. Of course monitor calibration hardware/software is quite expensive, but if you take/print photographs on a regular basis you have a good excuse to get one ;) Adobe have a gamma/colour correction program that I believe is included with Photoshop Elements. It's not nearly as good as a calibrator, but it most certainly improves what you see, and is easy to use.
The reason why your monitor should be calibrated is so that the colours you use are 'correct', in that what you see on your monitor should be at least very close to what someone sees on their own monitor. If your monitor is out of calibration, all your colours are going to be off and will be further off on someone elses monitor.

Thanks Nat, that sounds like it should too.
Now as I have got rid of my big CRT monitor, and invested in a flat screen I may have caused problems for my self.
When I read all the reviews AFTER I bought the 22" Wide screen LCD, I find it has supposed to have all sorts of problems with white and black. However I do not find it a problem and I find the colors to be fine.

Apparently early flatscreen monitors had problems accurately displaying colour (hence why many print labs continued to use CRT), but newer screens are much much more accurate.

After being converted to SG (for no apparent reason what so ever) R711 was used on a SG weekender special to Adelaide where it performed a number of shuttles before heading back to Melbourne...
The train is seen roaring out of Sleeps Hill tunnel on one of the shuttles.
http://www.victrainz.com.au/s301/stuff/images/adelaide/R711-sleeps_hill.jpg
And added surprised was 900, which had been restored and converted to standard gauge at some stage...
900 is seen leading the train on the return of one of the shuttles.

actually the original colours I used on this came from the Vline car site (which I assumed was using the correct colours)and everyone complained that they were to bright etc, so I toned them down with weathering and that was the end result, which nobody seemed to mind. so it probably has nothing to do with monitors or calibration or such like, just my clumsy attempt in weathering

SAR 406 Garratt assisted by T253 sit at the home arrival after arriving early from South Australia with the extra coal train.
The sleepy border town has not seen action like this since the soldier settlements were finally beaten by the relentless droughts in the '30's.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_158.jpg
Not a lot of activity down there. at 5 minutes to 5 am the signalman and the SM are yet to sign on.
After 5 hours crossing the flats with hardly a tree to break the monotony, the crew of the big Garratt put their feet up and await developments.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_159.jpg
The crew have already prepared the AD60 Garratt for the run down to Strathbeen, although eager to depart they know that they will be waiting line on the Pass!
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_160.jpg
at 5 minutes past the hour, The signalman speaks into Control and the coal train is given the tip. It slowly gathers its load of hoppers and much to the disgust of the local citizens blows the whistle starts the dogs barking as the 400 class barks out its own beat and enters no2 road where it will cut off and hand the train over to the NSW garratt.
A tiny 19 Class sits perking in the stock race awaiting the arrival of 190 sheep, heading to the markets in Adelaide. Alco 838 is sitting quietly in the dock.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_161.jpg
By the time the Garratt eases past the platform, the crew on the local Passenger have lit up the carriages and the night shift cleaner has handed a prepared engine over to the crew with a full head of steam. Passengers are already arriving and awaiting the boiling of the urns in the refresh. Railway coffee is always the best! The conductors distribute the foot warmers through out the cars as the passengers begin to board.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_162.jpg
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_164.jpg
The 400 eases up on the dwarf cuts off his train and runs towards the AD60, then sets back clear into 3 road.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_165.jpg
The 60 Class sets back on his load as the 400 Garratt eases forward into the grain shunt clearing the way to the NSW van which will be placed on the rear before departure.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_166.jpg
meanwhile the little 19 Class has come out and cut off the SAR van from the rear of the coal train. This is an unusual move, because the crew on the 830 are still waiting loading of their short stock train. However this town has had limited interaction between the foriegn crews and things are pretty friendly here.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_167.jpg
The 19 Class pulled the van clear and left it there. Meantime the 830 has run around the sheep vans and placed them on the van in 2 road and starts to prepare his train for Adelaide. He should be able to depart as soon as the Motor arrives at 6.30 am.

Its a minute after 6.0 am and the Pass is hauled out of the platform by 1943 for the quick run down to Strathbeen, 80 miles away. The school kids rise early in this town.
The AD60 Garratt has pulled the coalie up to the stick, and awaits the departure of the pass. After the Pass is out of site, the Garraatt will pull forward until clear of the 3 rd points before setting back onto his van. By 6.25 am he should have line and be able to depart.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_170.jpg
The crews on the SAR engines begin to grumble as foreign crews always do. They are blocked in and will not get a move and a chance to have a kip until the coallie has departed. They are still blocked by the van which will be picked up when the AD60 gets a road.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_171.jpg
Well thats my last shot as the box brownie only holds 12 pictures. I think I got 14 this time though. The lights are on in the van and so the guard is ready to couple on and depart his train when they have line clear. As this is my first year out of school, I better make sure I am home, cleaned up and waiting at the Banks front door at 8.55 am just to show the Manager I am keen. But how I hate tis job, I yearn to be out there on the 19 Class shoveling coal, and getting her down to Strathbeen on time, every time. My old mate Geoff Hope is on the job, and he is going to put a word in for me. He should get his drivers ticket in the next month, and I am hoping to get his cleaners job, then.
Wish me luck?

now that will be a good one - are you keeping true to gauge on the QR side - would make for an interesting layout especially around the exchange sidings at Wallangara.
incidently AFAIK K's (D55 for those only familiar with the 1924 classification) rarely worked north: Armidale loco being mostly allocated T and P classes (D50 and C32's) for the run to the border.
I've also a couple of pics of wallangara c 1971 - let me know if you need them (including one showing a signalling layout)

hmm!
not absolutely positive, but has anybody seen the Yarram Mixed pics from the 80's?
Pass cars were cut off at some stage and it would have been sensible to have the van on the front of the pass cars.
In other pics I have seen the van on the rear. Did it depend on the van?
Also no problems having a pass car on the rear the guard carried a fold up disk in his kit which could be mounted on one of the holders provided for that purpose. The tail light from the guards van was simply removed and placed on the holder provided on the carriage.
Not all carriages were so fitted, but any carriage used in those places would have been fitted.

What about a brake tap and gauge? Wouldn't you have to have one of these in the rear car?
I can kind of believe having a van in front of the pass cars, but I would have though the pass car would be required to have a brake gauge wherever possible. I'm fairly sure that Steamrail has to have one of their 'K' cars at the rear, as they are fitted with a gauge and tap. The the other end normally has a PCP car. Sometimes they can get away with a CW/CE van or a BCE :)

Well I guess, every air operated vehicle had a brake pipe cock, and we used that for brake tests anyway. If the car was fitted with tail lamp holders or electric lights it would also have a brake pipe pressure gauge fitted on the rear near the brake pipe cock. If the pass car had an emergency cord in the carriage (and Country pass cars did) then you had a gauge and an emergency cock in the end vestibules.
Cheers

I'm fairly sure that Steamrail has to have one of their 'K' cars at the rear, as they are fitted with a gauge and tap. The the other end normally has a PCP car. Sometimes they can get away with a CW/CE van or a BCE :)

P.S. But its a Tait Car with discs, lamps and can fit a guard :P
?
ah now I see it! so we have the tools to build a 7 car Tait?
We better fix the pantographs too Zec, they need to match the height of the Xtrap, to make things easier, anyway they go much too high for Victorian clearances, maybe Springvale Road crossing might have stretched them that high :)
Now that car on the goods must have been a G car, rather than a T or a "ringer" G Cars were fitted with gas lighting to make them available for non electric running. (I know they used ringers for wheel chairs and prams but I wonder if they were guards vans or meant to be guards vans at one time, but they did not have gas lighting)

Nope. The original creator only ever made the M can I gave you... I just wanted something different in my consist :)
Oh yes, there is NO way I'm going to make my stuff match the X'Trap.
I'm sorry guys, but the X'Traps panto is much too high for Vic lines :( I've made the L class' panto match Vic practice (well, I actually set it so that it matches the default aussie Auran catenaries, which are within the VR's caternary limits). Most catenaries that look somewhat similar to Vic ones are set to the height the L uses. But the X'Trap still ends up too high.
As to the Tait. I stuffed up the animation. I just need to re-adjust the anim to fix it. I just can't be bothered till I get the T car as well...

Ok Zec but if we got your Tait and Comeng running one height Xtrap and any others running other heights, then I guess I will just not bother going to the trouble of installing overhead. As it is it looks pretty bad. By the way have you checked out the Xtrap height? I used English double Line cat. in my picture here and it looks pretty good to me.
http://www.victrainz.com.au/pics/Rods/tait_special.JPG
Remember Victorian overhead on a cold day sits about 6 inches above the whistle on a S Class (engineman's observation), and on really hot days we used to get sparks as the wire started to droop. Like I said above, Victorian O/H went to max height only when it went across level crossings, as the pantos lost efficiency on full extension.
Sometimes compromises really do not matter if they are not very noticeable. I think the overhead in Victoria varies about 4 .5 feet in practice.
Cheers

EDIT ok ok Can we change the Xtrap without the mesh, however I do believe we have the mesh?? Anyway its a config. item and separate mesh isn't it?

Yeah the Xtrap has sticking brakes. You can see the driver from the Tait (workshop orange boiler suit) is back there giving the Connex bloke a hand. It is probably a spring operated hand brake that has applied somehow. The fix is to wind it off with a large socket and wrench and from memory its hard to do and about 30 turns!

Well I'll be... I must have been thinking of another model :s
anyways, just checked the X'Trap. It looks to have been set to UK cat height (as you mentioned). However, I've been warned away from the UK cats. This is because there are only a small number of sets using this height. There are a large number using the Aussie catenary heights. I'm fairly sure this is a 6m height, or something close to that. This is fairly close to max, but gives us the widest range of catenaries. Yes, a few feet may not be noticable. But it certainly becomes a paint where there are only a small handful of catenary splines that look something like the Vic ones.
I'm still trying to find the height of the UK ones. But, after placing the L next to the X'Trap, it does seem a bit low.
The Aussie wire height has already been used on a fair few number of layouts too, including the ones by the guys at the Razorback Railway. Myself, I'll stick to the Aussie ones. Means my stuff will work with the majority of layouts, and gives a nice wide range of catenaries that can be used...

Of course, Bill. You do know that now you have to build a 3 foot 6 Steamer like this..

Then we got to set about and find narrow gauge bogies for all the stuff still not converted. Although I note so many have already been done!
Without doubt, you need only one really good NG QR map out there and everybody else will pitch in and make 3 foot 6 the norm!

When I was a lad cleaner back in 1930, I was never going to get on an engine like S301. She was VR's latest and greatest engine. A 3 cylinder brute who could put its big driving wheels a'dancing on the track as it quickly got up to 70 MPH and moved passengers along with ease. The best part about them, was that it held its feet when lifting a 700 ton Goods train up a 1:40 out of Dysart near Broadford on the North Eastern lines.
At the time old George took these pictures we were lucky to see her under load testing at Bunee Bunee. When George retired he allowed me to copy some of his pictures.
Well at least I got out of the shed tonight. In fact old George Lynch has taken a bit of a likening for me I think. Well it is always hard to tell, as I am sure that a smile would crack is cellulose collar Ha Ha! But anyway I was asking him about his camera a month ago, and as I am really interested in this new art. He actually told me a bit about it. Even invited me to help him one Saturday set up some shots. The tripod is really hard to manage on your own, and it has to be so steady when you mount the Eastman Kodak frame on top. Then set up the bellows attach a lenses adjust the focus and then uncover the glass plate. Then at exactly the right moment uncover the lenses.. wait wait that's it cover the lenses, cover the plate and remove it to a dark bag in the box.
Then lug the whole thing over the other side of the yard and set it all up once again. I read in the Argus last Saturday that Eastman have invented a film that will replace the glass negative and reduce the size of the whole camera so that one man will easily operate it. As well we should get 8 pictures to a roll of film.
Hell these 6 pictures took us 3 days to set up and get and another 3 weeks to paint the colours! But we did good! This is the original....

This is our home for the next 12 hours! 716 has full tanks and I will move it up to the loader to top up the coal as soon as I help old George put his camera away.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_002.jpg
716 loaded with coal is ready to head down the yard to get the local pass cars, and push them into the platform after the S departs.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_187.jpg
K103 came up on the empty Stock early this morning, having placed its loading it is waiting the departure of the early morning pass before setting back and across to the shed for coal and water. She will run the local later this morning.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_188.jpg
S301 is out on time, bloody George has got the shed man up the coal tower setting up the camera for this shot! George has missed his calling, I'm thinking!
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_190.jpg
Looks like old George is not the only one slacking off. The signalman was slow cranking the gates across.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_191.jpg
The new coaling Tower is starting to stain up nicely as the mighty 3 cylinder quickly accelerates the train down to Town.
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_192.jpg
All greens and already hauling 360 tons at 55 MPH!
http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Rods/night_shift/Screen_193.jpg
As the sun rapidly lights up the Eastern sky, the van is lost in the foliage as another day begins in Bunee Bunee.
Old George has packed the camera in the side car of his motor cycle and returns just as the shunters come out to play, with the stock train out in 2 arrivals
(anonymous)
old George did drive the mighty Spirit S301 many times I guess. He did exist. I fired for his son (Young George) And I put this together from things he told me before he retired age 60 in 1978.
Cheers

I new I had a picture somewhere of George. He really was a photographer and one of Wodonga's great engine men.
This picture, obviously scanned from a magazine, is interesting. It appears to show a platform through the window, and it would not be Albury as that has no buildings on the BG end. George is wearing his work uniform and never drove the mighty S Class without his celluloid collar. It could have been old Spencer Street Station, and some time before departure. He and his mate, would wash the cab and controls down, before George would remove the coat and "sweaty" ,fit the collar and then he was ready to take his be-loved train home to Albury.
In reality I never drove steam on the "5 foot 3" only on Diamond Valley's little 7 1/4" :D But it is interesting to note George is watching the duplex air gauge. I presume it shows the Main Reservoir pressure and the Brake Pipe pressure. Both needles are near zero, which probably means their is a compressor test being conducted. On Diesels not possible, but it may be that the main reservoir has been drained ,the Simplex compressor shut down, and he is counting the time it takes to gain working pressures once more? Possibly a way of learning how he is going to handle the beast today? Guessing here, someone might know?
Unfortunately I was informed most of his glass negatives were taken to the tip when young George passed away around 1981. It is really sad when ones passion is not respected by one's own family.
Cheers

G'day from Amsterdam, everybody!
It's fantastic to see so many great shots from everyone. Since I've left the dry and dusty country I've kept track of little in the Aussie trainz world, but it's really fine to see it's all still alive. All the new VR content is really shaping up to a comprehensive package. Lovely.
Bill, you expressed interest in making a QR loco such as the BB18? Well, I've searched for countless hours to find a high-res plan of the loco with no luck. I don't know of any books which will have any comprehensive plans. There might be some out there, but so many books on QR steam are very hard to find, even on Biblioz.com or Ebay.
At the Zig Zag Railway however, there is a very detailed plan of the BB18 (as well as a C-17 and an AC16) on the wall in the workshop there. I'm sure there must be someone near the Zig Zag who could ask to scan or copy it for you, or try to find the source. I tried to take photographs of them, but they were a little too distorted. From memory, the diagrams they had on the wall were at least A3 size with very fine print.
I don't know if this is any interest to you, since I have many weeks before I return to Australia and am so many miles away, but I have a partially complete model of a BB18 on my computer. It's probably half finished, as accurate as I can make it. I was using three hundred odd detail photos of it. When I get back, I will happily send that to you, though it won't happen for at least two months.
To everyone else, if you think Cityrail has issues or the suburban Melbourne network is problematic, you need to pay a visit to Egypt. So many of the windows in their carriages were riddled with what could only be bullet holes, and the grime on their locos and stock seemed so permanent, and almost a part of their livery. Most of the locos I saw had steel bars on their front windows, and all trains had armed guards accompanying every trip.
On the express train from Cairo to Aswan, the train was stopped for fourteen hours due to a derailment about a hundred miles away from Luxor, roughly doubling the journey time.
When I got to England, I really missed traveling on the trains in Egypt. Though they were lousy, dirty and inefficient, they didn't have patronising voice messages telling me that the doors were closing, and I could have a satisfying cigarette in the vestibule and chat in broken English (or Arabic) and meet some amazing personalities.
We really have it good in Australia.
Enough of this rant, anyway. I hope everyone across those many oceans is doing well, and it's great to see the rambunctious fever driving content creation is still strong.
Peace all, don't eat that yellow snow.

Willem2 your doing excellent work with your buildings. Even though they're QLD ones, I can still see them being used in our Narrandera_Tocumwal branch Line Project. Between you & VinnyBarb, there's some great 'niche' areas of the Trainz paraphernalia being covered. Thank you!.
Dreddman I 'hear what you say' (ie your pretty busy with stuff), so I will sit down & tremble as quietly as I can, in this corner. I still haven't re-installed FSX Flightsim, but will try & get stuck in to our (Craig "Seeseeme") project mentioned above.

Hi Bill, not for a little while. However once we get into some serious research into the towns on our route, I'll be asking your good self & VinnyBarb if you would like to help us out with some buildings. I'll email you both once I have some half-decent pics, & have sorted out what we need to be made.
Email me if you like (off-forum) for some 'background' on our little project. My email address is in my profile.
Well, it's selected to be viewable in my profile, but I don't see it, so just use the 'send email' button Bill, & we'll go from there.
Thanks Bill for your kind offer.

Hard to believe all this Country is soon going to be subdivided and home for a hundred thousand people.
The Class leader has just returned from an ARHS tour, and has been lovingly cleaned and polished by volunteers, who were hoping to save her from the gas axe, which was her future should their efforts have been in vain. Fortunately as we know, she was saved by forward thinkers.

@ davidO, try changing your env_metal to a grey scale image, then increase the colours to the highest(it will remain a grey scale colour) and save. That gets rid of the bluish/brown tinge when putting a high reflection on wheel surfaces and ends up much more realistic rather than the "burnt metal" looking finish.

May I suggest something to all and sundry, There are on the forums young folk who get really excited when new content is shown in this thread, probably a lot of older folk as well. Can I suggest that we read nothing more into comments of support or praise, than those comments being support or praise. Speaking for myself, if I was to get a bruised ego every time something was released by someone other than me, I would have given this all up some time ago.

Hi David,
Well I certainly hope not. :o
because that was not my intention. However we can still be excited by what we see here, and say it with a little thought for our other friends. I am no builder as you know, but I spent many hours researching some engines. The C38 started it all off when Marlboro first worked on it for us. I have never stopped hoping it would make it to the DLS for all to enjoy. I for one cannot thank Peter enough for surprising us all with his recent rebuild and release of his 4 models. I think they were a necessary improvement on his first model 38. I also think that it was pay back for all our hard work. I really was taken aback, when it was so easily dismissed by the few. I think my post shows that good honest brown nosing was not what I had in my sights, I just wanted to remind people that sometimes our souls are out there and they should not be trampled on carelessly.
ok call me thin skinned and get on with it, I have no doubt anything coming out of Cardiff will deserve all the praise heaped upon it ;)
Cheers

Geelong Loco calls driver T379. over....
Yeah its Jimmy here Geoff... so you are lacking power?
ok you have a running second engine? no alarms, ground relays?
Ok so its running, check for power, I suggest you check the load meter on the second engine, under power. My guess is you were hauling in reality 1340 tonnes and that would account for low speed of 65kph. Change the jumper cable, and if that doesn't work go and remove and replace the governor jumper, you might have a loose connection there.
Use the lay shaft and check the revs.
Turn the XX switches on and off, leave them on if they were off. Let me know how you go. If you cannot fix it at Corio I will get a changeover engine for the rest of the trip to Warnambool, stable the engines in the pass yard as we have shunters on strike in North Geelong.
Righto mate let me know soonest so I can organise that engine,
Geelong Loco out...

In regard to the "issue" which occurred in previous pages over 4 posts commenting on CWS's latest project in the form of the C38 class, I'd like to invite anyone to go back and take a look at the posts which were the result of the announcement of Pete's latest rebuild of the C38 class, the number of posts which followed that announcement numbered much greater then the measily 4 which were the result of the CWS screenshot.
Just because we post and appreciate CWS's work does not mean we automatically forget about the models built by one of the first people here to make Australian Steam....I also find it quite dissapointing someone would assume such a thing of myself and the other 3 people who also posted.
Just my 2 cents

The AD60 does look very good and I'm very much looking forward to the day I can have double-headed Garratt's hauling W44 between Molong and Orange if I ever manage to get the DEM data for the area and get out to Molong to do some research.

Those cliff splines I made ages ago. If I sent them to anyone, whoever wants to release them under there name can. I don't know when I'll be back in Australia to finish and release them, it could be a month, it could be a year. I have about two dozen spines more or less finished back at home, but I won't be there to tidy them up and get them onto the DLS.

Ok. I'm going through and 'rekuidding' them (new word for the day!), and will hopefully upload these by the end of the week. They will be uploaded under the VicTrainz group kuid (of which Boobless_Ed has an allocation, and has had since the group kuid was created).

Hey guys,
Apparently Tom (Flathog) MIGHT have tracked down some more up to date cliff splines I did when I sent an early version of the Blue Mountains route to a small selection of people.
Although not my latest work, they're probably the best bet for someone to release. If he can send them over to you Zec, it'd be great if you could clean up the config files and release them. That also goes for any of the other content that might have been with that old route, too.
Damn, so tired. I wonder if I'll make that train to Berlin this morning...

miappl,
Those cliff splines I made ages ago. If I sent them to anyone, whoever wants to release them under there name can. I don't know when I'll be back in Australia to finish and release them, it could be a month, it could be a year. I have about two dozen spines more or less finished back at home, but I won't be there to tidy them up and get them onto the DLS.
To whoever I may have sent any betas to, release, modify, upload them, take credit for them. I really don't care. :)
Jim
hah, yet another good thing you have created....
just like the Blue Baby you were working on :udrool: .
Thanks for allowing others to release the splines, they will come in handy :)
Zec, thanks for what you have done.... You sure were fast.
Cheers :)
