If not then Ill think ill have to do it myself.........

I'm in the process of rebuilding the QR 2800, and the "Double Eagle" (QR National) livery is the one that I am currently working on. So you will have both the Bronco and Double Eagle soon (™).

Tom, I would hazard a guess that it is setup as 'traffic'. This going by the light effect, of which traffic in TC1/2 (and most likely TC3) has available to it.

I don't think even Nathan could add stuff to built-in code if the support weren't there...

Thats what I was asking then. If 'night lights' works with road traffic in TRS04/TRS06. I had heard that the support was only added in TC1/2...

Zec, I have been interested in a dual guage line that matches (or is similar to) the NSW track on the DLS from Cardiff works, and I would really like to know how that was done. (onliy if you don't mind)

They should. The 'ML/YL/YML' tracks were designed to replace the old ones (otherwise they wouldn't have overwritten them).

As to dual gauge track. The one in my screenshot was made using custom tracks, including a specially made track that only has 1 rail (and a marker to help line up the 'common' rail). However, if you can find a SG/BG pair of track that match, you can very easily set up a dual gauge line by laying one over the top of the other, with one of the rails from each merged together to form a 'common rail'.

Both are very fiddley to set up though.

I have some UTC dual gauge track by DS1 (?) He made a BG +SG converge into DG and then various lengths of DG track. Wooden sleepers as well as concrete.

The 'DG' track that Ds1 made (I was working on fixing these for TRS04/TRS06/TC standards, but kept losing track of it all :s ) were setup as 'bridge' track. This means you couldn't used the 'straighten' tool on them, or have 'junctions' in it without using the regular tracks.

The system that I'm currently using for the DG track was actually suggested to me by ds1 a number of months back. I will most likely make a 'fixed track' piece to go with the DG tracks to make laying it a little easier. But, it is the best way to go. At least if you want to be able to use the track for a large variety of areas (yards, and so on).

X'Trap. It's at the same stage. If you go over to the VicTrainz forums, you'll find the beta for it available for download though :)

Hitachi, haven't heard anything new on it.

Comeng, I started one a long time back, but didn't get all that far.

Tait, I've been working with an MSTS creator to convert his over to TRS. However, he has only created an M car for his new set, so I've only got an M car in TRS...

Why would you show support for mindless retards who destroy another's property? The boys and girls at Seymour preservation spent "unpaid hours" restoring S303 to as new condition. Between last Saturday and this Monday, these witless wonders placed graffitti all down one side. They also damaged several suburban trains.
Melburnians struggled to work this morning on overcrowded trains worse still because they were minus two trains withdrawn for cleaning.
Seymour preservation will lose hundreds of dollars and the volunteers will waste their time cleaning off this mess, before S303 can raise a few dollars towards maintaining the preserved fleet in that Society.
I ask again.... Why would you support these retards? Even in Trainz!

Hi comtrain,

Good 'food for thought' in your post.

For some, realism is important & perhaps to that end, the messy side of life is thus included in the presentation of that realism.
However for others, presentation of a less-ugly world is a delight to the heart & soul.
Tolerance of bad behavior however is a 'PC' cop-out.
(Political Corruption of a moral society's standards).

Personally I am saddened by our sinking society, & would love to see a turn-around to a more considerate healthy & happy one.
Note I use the word 'considerate', not 'tolerant'!

i don't support vandelism of any kind.but i live in the real world and hope they catch the culprits who graffitied the s303.
i try to make my trainz as realistic as possible
but if it comes to censoring what is uploaded to the DLS and become POLITICALLY CORRECT we'd be banning all the steam locos and desiels for assiting global warming, and anything else that may cause harm.
we are all induvidals and everyone has right to voice his/her opinion.

I am sorry did you say you are not supporting vandalism?
Oh good then you will not be showing your younger friends graffiti when you demonstrate Trainz? You will not be posting pictures of it in public forums, and you will not be releasing any of this crud on our DLS... will you?
If that is not support, I don't know what is...

Hi Patchy, the graffiti covered QR QLX wagons are mine. There are rolling stock and scenery versions. Just search for kuid 59737 on the DLS.

There has already been a long and sometimes nasty debate about the merits or otherwise of uploading grafitti to the DLS and I would not like to see it start up again.

For those who may be interested those wagons are photo skinned with images of real wagons that were stored in Brisbane a few years ago.

Cheers, Geoff.

Unfortunately, graffiti is around. And if we want our trainz to look realistic, this is a part of it. I don't condone graffiti. But, it is a reality. To me, not putting it in trainz is akin to denying it. It would be like not having any dirty locos or wagons in TRS. Which would be like denying that trains get dirty (even the Spirit).

Now, to go and use a photo of real graffiti, that I don't agree with. It is using a person's 'tag' which would be advertising it. But, to make some 'coloured dirt' on a freight wagon. Well, it's realistic.

And it's an unfortunate fact of life. You don't have to use those versions. But if they end up in a screenshot, then so be it.

Again, I don't condone graffiti. But, I do accept that it is a part of reality. An unfortunate part, but still a part.

Myself though, I probably won't make a reskin with graffiti on it. Unless it is of course that easy to remove 'graffiti' (finger writing in the dirt on locos...). Or unless I'm making a very specific object, such as a specific station that is in a more graffiti prone area.

I think graffiti has it's place in Trainz. Although, instead of using traditional "tags" that one seems to find all over ex SRA grain hoppers and cement hoppers (what is it about these wagons that attract the graffiti), tags like "Trainz 08" or "username" would be a little amusing.

I like weathered trains, I like dirty trains. I don't like to SEE graffiti on my trains, but it happens. If someone released an S-Set model with graffiti, well, it would be accurate of some of the S-Sets, but it wouldn't be the same as a dumped, unloved looking freight wagon with tags on the side.

hmm strange this discussion is going on this long. I gathered that our screenshots are to try to recreate realism not show a perfect world correct? therefore its inevitable that your going to get wagons or locos with graffiti on them. its not a question of morals its a question of making your shots look believable.

screentshots do not condone graffiti or any other type of illegallity to me, seems a bit silly carrying on to that end.

having said that, nice shots chaps.

Some screenshots of my naked test route. I'm just testing a little track from 500m south of Ingleburn, Sydney, to 1.5km North of Glenfield via Granville and East Hills. The signalling is off but it works atm. Some may have seen a little route similar I was working on before for testing but that was lost. This route has used coordinates and proper measurements. As per usual there are errors but i've minimised what i've found.

Working on bridges at the moment but nothing really to do with scenery.

I also did a test following a train service on the timetable and the padding seemed alot worse than in real life. Probably because the M-Set hit 105km/h alot of the way. :P

Bloody typical of Davido/Natvander! They don't do anything in half measures - even if 90% of the Trainz population might not notice it, they will know that the windscreen wipers actually work, and that's all that matters. I look forward to downloading these tomorrow and having a bit of a play.

Certainly did :p

Thank you David.
I am into model railways too. I modeled D&RGW up until recently but now I am strictly VR.
I said strictly, but that was until all this lovely stuff arrived over the last few years from you and the people from Cardiff Workshops.
Now its easy to model Victorian and NSW and QR etc in Trainz.
But it is very expensive to try and do it in HO
However because you guys taught me to appreciate this stuff from North of the Murray, I now own a Garrat (well one did tour down from Albury as far as Wangaratta!!) But how do I explain the 620 / 720 Railcars I purchased early this year?? :o
But thank you for making this terrific model. It looks as pretty as the Eureka model, and sounds better... Oh and I was always poor, now I am broke too!

Gee Nat,
This screenshots page is getting to be the Cardiff workshops page!!
such magnificent "screenies".
That street looks magnificent! Is it part of a future project that we all want to happen? I should spell it out. Your silence or response will tell the story. :D
I truly believe that the Cardiff Group is the only one that is good enough to present Auran with a TC aussie pack!
So I hope that this nice stuff is a way of letting us know that you guys are onto it!
If you are not, you really should be :udrool:
And thank you all, for producing such lovely models as "free ware" Your models are near perfect and your modellers are true Trainz Artisans.
If some have a name for me for dishing out such praise, well, its your prerogative, however I believe it to be the truth
Thanks and Cheers

Davido, as marvellous as that loco looks (and we know it's going to be good, and that's no false flattery on my part, when considering the 620 railcars), I'm quite interested in that layout (and the passenger cars, but that's another wishlist there).

The track, looks very similar to Natvanders track, and yet it is so smooth and realistic. I'm a massive fan of the CWS-brand track, mostly for the squeal of the 5m curve track.

Any more shots from the layout, and information would be great, it's a nice looking one. The size of a HO layout is even better, as that's something I'm going to build in Trainz, just so as to have a finished layout :P

Fantastic stuff.

Thanks for Dave's pub kuid.
My Dodo server account updates on 28th, & I have 35Mb left on peak time!
Eeeek!.
I downloaded 700Mb between 6 & 7am this morning (off-peak time), thinking I still had way over 100Mb left in peak time. (10Gb plan!!!)
So either I stay up waiting for that magic moment when it goes 'off peak'

You guys do such a great job making these models!! I dont know how you do it!

Am i possibly the most eager, excited and the one who's constantly on the edge of my seat waiting for some good Melbourne Suburban content to be magically created by one of you guys? :D There's so much great V/ and VR stuff / wagons etc around i'm suuure it wont be long until someone delves into them head first... and then possibly into trams too? who knows.. bylands would be easy to re-create! ..

Also, i havent seen it mentioned here yet but has anyone downloaded the Queenscliff - Lakers Siding route on the DLS? I was quite impressed with it- although the track texture needs changing and the bushes down the lakers siding end are a little 'too much'..! :o

The above loco's are from BHP Steel Works in Newcastle.

Believe it or not they were NARROW GAUGE:eek:, or at least pulled narrow-gauge carriages, or something of the like, never quite understood the system, but 2 are still in service on the Standard Gauge working for Manildra Group as MM03 and MM04.

That's all I know about them :p

Also, great work on the 44's, I'm actually surprised at how close the Auran 44 is, although, the CWS 44 looks alot "crisper", as for the pass. carriages behind the 44, they are something which we can never have to much of, would go great behind AD602000's C38:D

just a bit of background on the centre cabs.

the locos were built by Goninan & Co from the 1960's. The first five #37-41 were built to service the 915mm gauge railway network. The rest, except for #56 (which was also built for the 915mm narrow gauge), were built to service the steelworks standard gauge track. The narrow gauge units were all withdrawn in 1991, but about seven survived in service until the steelworks closed.

As has been mentioned, two are in service with Manildra (48 and 51), plus #58 with Heggies Bulk Haulage, 49 & 50 went to Loonganna Lime in WA. 42, 43 and 54 are stored at the RVRM, 53 is undergoing an overhaul at the RVRM, 47 and 52 are stored at Dorrigo, 55 and 57 are in service at the Junee Railway Workshops.

Yep, they are BHP Newcastle Steelworks loco's. There where narrow gauge and standard gauge versions. The narrow gauge where used exclusively on the ingot line, where they cast steel ingots into molds mounted on special ingot buggies/cars which where coupled in trains of 8 or so. They where then transported to the Bloom Mill via the narrow gauge where the ingots where rolled into billets. The standard gauge serviced the rest of the plant.
If I live long enough I hope to model the steelworks...how daunting is that!!!

adding to my earlier post, a good source of reference about the former Newcastle Steelworks is an article by Leon Oberg in Australian Diesel Scene 5 published by Eveleigh Press. It has a diagram of the track layout of the steelworks plus other interesting details about the diesel locos that worked on the site. Those who have read the article will know what i mean.

David, the steelworks in trainz would be a daunting task, one that I would not be able to achieve myself but would love to see something like that in the future. Also, the oher diesels that worked in the steelworks, I would've sent you plans and the like, except I have not come across any. A mate of mine hasn't been able to track any down either, and I think (not 100% sure on this) he worked at Goninans (or knew people who did) years ago.

W44 -

A Garratt and usually a D53 and occasionally a D50 worked the train from Brokenhill to Molong, both the Garratt and Standard goods would face forward for this part of the journey.

On arrival at Molong the D53 would be removed and a Garratt which was running bunker first would be attached in front of the other Garratt, this Garratt would always be a Heavy type with DC (Dual Control). The double-headed Garratt's would work along the steep grades from Molong to Orange.

On arrival at Orange, the forward facing Garratt would be removed for servicing whilst the Bunker First Garratt would continue the trip to Lithgow where electric traction would take over to Gosford where-by another Garratt + suitable loco would take over the train to Sulphide Jct.

During the later years of operation this trip was also run by a Garratt + D53 from Brokenhill to Parkes, a 49 from Parkes to Sulphide Jct. with appropriate assisting loco's being added where needed.:p

Just a little lesson for everyone...

I'd be willing to beta the Garratt in 06 if you want Pete if you want, I assume you still have my e-mail address?

I still remember the day I made a post asking if someone would be willing to make an AD60 Garratt if I supplied the plans, thank you very much for taking up the challenge, improving on your first efforts and continueing with your Gmax-ing to produce the great works which have followed:D

Going to wait for the loadable bins before I finish mine :hehe:
Can you get pictures or plans dimensions of the bin unloading facility? From memory one or two bins are rotated up side down then returned backwards to the upright position. I have been looking at Bendorseys rotary coal unloaders, and feel we could probably ask Ben to do the modification. He is a very helpful person. He has just completed a key bridge that links Melbourne Interstate traffic to the yards for me (..us ;)
It would be great to get this going in 2004/6.
If we could get the cane carting machines to arrive and depart at the rail siding and tip into the bins to simulate loading too. With pictures and measurements, I am pretty sure I could ask someone to do that too ;)

We found this picture recently shot in NSW. A spectacular gathering of Victorian Locomotives arranged for easy inspection by would be users as the preserved locomotives get set to re-enter service in Victoria to fill the vacuum left when "Bell Transport" tried to move everything out of the state. It is rumoured that "Bell" are moving surplus road transport into position, and with the loss of a viable railway, Higher road transport charges already compromised by high fuel prices will cause food and other services to sky rocket!!
Thanks to Ad602000 and Tom for putting together this fine Victorian collection for us all to enjoy :D

A few from me:

S301 and K103 were chosen to run an old VR Special. I only had my B&W Camera with me but the pics turned out pretty good:

http://www.victrainz.com.au/tommyg/Trainz/S301-K103%20Pass%202.jpg

The shot below was taking after the run-around was complete. They didn't have time to turn the locos (were already 20 minutes late).

http://www.victrainz.com.au/tommyg/Trainz/S301-K103%20Pass%203.jpg

And these two from the next morning, T368 waits for the Pass to arrive so it can depart with a Wadalbavale Goods.

Well of course it would be the ambos, they always start everything hay Peter, they get so bored sitting around playing with Gmax, sometimes they are even to slack to drive there own bone box and have to get a real driver to do it.

May be the pub is now offering emeregency service discount on meals as of course no one from the fire service would be drinking on duty.

Best way to get a park in front of the cafe is to use the lights and siren

With pictures and measurements, I am pretty sure I could ask someone to do that too ;)
Cheers
Rod (a Victorian and not expecting to visit the FNQ for a couple years)

they tip two bins at a time up this way,TORANA has been asking for an active mill and bins.
but i don't know how he's going.it would be good to have a havester and
haul out tractors to boot.

cheers,
patchy

p.s. when they start cutting cane down from my place i'll get some photos

Hi guys,

First off, great stuff Patchy, well done.

Secondly I have been been busy with work & haven't had any Trainz time for awhile. :(

I have had no Progress with any Sugarcane industry items.

If somebody can help with making any of these,

I will give $150Australian for a complete Hi-Quality working Interactive Sugarcane industry, with the 5 items below (1 Loco)
Or $25 to each Hi-Quality item made separately as well, to have variety.
No more than 2 harvesters or 2 complete mills
only 1 bin & siding required.
Loco's are unlimited.

This would include:
1 Cane mill with Rotary unloader, Bulk Sugar out & molasses out, with smoke stack.

2 Loadable cane bins (Shagster's bins)

3 Harvester working with Haul out trucks that have 2bins on the back (animated) like the JD animated tractors Etc.

4 Interactive siding that self load the bins.

The siding would be good to have it so the bins self-load them self on the siding set as a rate of your choice.
that way you just come along an leave the empty bins & they fill up automatically
then just hook up to the loaded ones & head back to the mill.
i think a 4 track & a 6 track

5 Hi-Quality (Universal) Cane trains All shapes an sizes Diesel or steam (2ft, 600mm only) to fit in-game 2ft tracks

Cheers,
Torana.:)
