Is there an AI rule to issue a message to let the user know when
some action is completed....say message "train #xx arriving at station YY"
or using a trigger to say "train arriving at station YY".
I would prefer it to be part of a schedule so the messages could change.

Yes there is a rule you can add to a session for this. Look for "Notify" rule in your selection.
To use it, you put it in your list of commands that the AI driver follows. When he or she reaches the destination, have him or her notify you that the task is complete. It works like it's supposed to.

Hi
There's also one called "post message".
it comes with "wait for message" and " wait for message and clear"
you can use this to get one AI to post a message and another AI to react to it.
I use it in a terminus , the first AI brings the coaches into the station, decouples then posts a message.
the second AI is waiting outside and reacts to the message by coupling to the front of the coaches and and driving off round the route.
the first loco then pulls out and parks outside.
give them their instructions properly and the pair of them will do this all day
hope this helps

Hi,
Go to the DLS and search for them manually, the 2 above (131986:210005 and 131986:210006) have been replaced with newer versions, reason why CMP can't find them.

Notify - as I understand it will play an audio file.
Post/waitfor/waitforclear - is only used to pass messages on to other AI's.
What I want is something like the Message centre with messages on trigger - works but limited to single message per single or all trains.
What I'm looking for is something that will notify user when a certain train arrives/leaves station &/or move to the camera there.
Something I can use in a schedule and pass a different message to according to where it is in the schedule - perhaps as an index into a list of messages???
Something yet to be written I suppose.

Notify does that. When a task is complete, a message is presented...
