Perenniality of our creations in case TrainZ disappears.

My ancient copies of Word and Excel still work just fine without phoning home once a month.

Of course, if the entire Internet disappears overnight as a result of a massive solar flare then none of us will have much say in the matter, but what are the chances? ^__^ At least we'll always have cats...

Ahhh yes, the cats. That solar flare would just be the first part of their plan to take over the world, if my cat is any guide.

I use LibreOffice as my MS Office replacement. Since I retired I have no need of all the features MS Office offered and did not want to pay for the upgrades or the annual subscription for a relatively little used product. I use GIMP instead of Photoshop for the same reason. Trainz, however, is a different matter. I don't mind the DRM monthly "phone home" of TRS19, Trainz Plus and TRS22 because they are, in my view at least, far superior products to TANE, with or without the DRM.

But each to their own.
